They drive their BMWs, they live in their houses that are nicer than some working people have, and they collect all the gov't freebies they can. They live a better quality of life than many of the working poor that get nothing from the gov't either by choice (pride), not being qualified because they make too much money somehow, or just not knowing how to get access to it.
I can read an almost identical diatribe about poor "takers" almost anywhere online. It's always the same about their cars and nice homes, buying lobster in the grocery store etc. Pretty lame, and hardly true.
I also think it's interesting that what was good for your family, is not OK for others. This also seems to be a re-occurring theme within the conservative mind. Paul Ryan advocates the same thing (reduction of "entitlements"), while having benefited from social security growing up.
You only have anecdotal (and not very original) stories to support your position. It's easy to look down the ladder and demonize those less fortunate than ourselves, with nary a shred of understanding of their predicament I guess. The reality is that corporate welfare takes more (and drive nicer cars btw) then any welfare cheat you could dream of. They drain our revenue as the debt builds up and our schools crumble. But those on the right side of the aisle never shake their finger upwards...only down at the poor people. That's the new trend in this country, brought to us by the GOP: demonizing the poor. For shame I say.
Hardly true? Holy shit dude, you're out of touch. It happens all the time. I don't tell stories, I give my experiences. I worked in grocery stores from 14 to 22. I've seen it all, and while I didn't take names so I could prove it to you, it happened.
There is no demonizing of the poor from me. I applaud those that try to make their lives better and damn straight I look down on the ones that don't. Why? Because I was one of the poor and instead of feeling sorry for myself I got a job at 14 and worked my ass off. I have that right. I earned it. You can't tell me it can't be done. You just have to want to, and that means working while your buddies are hanging out getting drunk or high. That means not joining a gang. That means not playing video games. People make shitty decisions all the time, then blame society for their woes. No, you're just an idiot and got exactly what you deserved.
To all those that pulled themselves up like I did, congratulations. To those that chose not to, I have no sympathy for you.

I got reduced/free lunches at school as a kid. We were on food stamps from time to time. I am all for supporting the people temporarily that need it. The problem is people haven't just used it as a crutch, they've used it as a way of life. They drive their BMWs, they live in their houses that are nicer than some working people have, and they collect all the gov't freebies they can. That's what needs to change. The lifers. If you're collecting, you're working. End of story. You're cleaning the side of the road. You're cleaning gov't office buildings. You're doing something that is contributing to society, and if you don't want to do it, that's fine, but the freebies stop too. I have no idea why this isn't already the law. Almost everybody - even the disabled - are capable of contributing to society in some way. Enough of the sitting around doing nothing. Work for your freebies. Then let's see if they would rather collect gov't assistance or get a job that might allow them to get out of the circle of poverty.

See ya here in Chicago, Buzz?
For sure. My wife already knows I'll be hitting a few shows around the country. 2 in Chicago with family and friends is a good start.

You can't have a discussion on qualifications if you support Obama. He had zero qualifications, yet he was elected twice. Discussion over.
I am an independent. What I mean by that is I am not affiliated with either party. I am a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. I am essentially the poster child for the middle class. I don't rely on gov't handouts to survive, nor do I like the gov't telling people how to live their lives. I am all for supporting those that really need help to get by; I am not for supporting those that are too lazy to work or unwilling to take a job that they feel is below them so they sit at home and collect from those of us that work hard and pay our taxes. I am not for supporting those that made poor life decisions and never made an effort to save any of the money they were making and blew it all on shit they didn't need like the biggest house or the nicest car.
We do so many things ass backwards. We help other countries before helping our own. We pass laws that we have no idea what they actually state because our party told us to. We vote for or against things based on race, religion, politics, etc when none of those things should play a role in the decision making process. The whole system is broken. It's all about money and power and nobody cares about me any more than they care about any one of you. It's all about power and money no matter how much they try to fool you into thinking they care about you.
Thanks to whoever got me started on the gov't...

I've heard from a different source than my other information that gnr have 2 dates at the United Center in Chicago this year. Don't know the dates yet, but there's no way they are playing 2 dates there without Slash.
Edit: I hear Adele is coming there too, but don't care.

Here's why I lean republican even though I disagree with them on most social issues: the Republicans just ignore the middle class; the Democrats try to bring the middle class into the poor. Given the choice, I'd rather be ignored.

He's also going to tax and spend us into oblivion, so there's that too.
Democrats would never lose an election if they could just figure out how to pay for things before they buy them. It also wouldn't hurt if instead of enabling the poor they provided ways to help themselves live a better life instead of giving them the bare minimum to survive.

I believe in equality as much as anyone. I'm not a trump supporter. I'm just explaining why things are the way they are. Obama's dictatorship the last 8 years created the resentment that has allowed trump to be a force. There are a LOT of people fed up with the lies and deceit coming from the white house.
I'm all for completely closing the borders. That's not discrimination. Fix the process for letting people in, then open the borders with 100% adherence to the new policies (whatever they end up being).
There's absolutely nothing we can do about the Islamic perception until they care enough to fix it. That's 100% on them.
Is there oil in Korea? Germany? All the other places we have a military presence? I'm not going to sit here and say the oil isn't important because it is, but it's not the only reason we get involved. I'd love to leave the rest of the world alone, but guess what? Even most of these places that hate us need us. Anytime something happens, who gets called? What will happen to the rest if the world if we stop taking the calls? We get involved because it's our obligation to get involved. We have to because someone needs to and nobody else outside of maybe Russia has the resources we do. This isn't what I want, but it is reality.
What happens to the world if we stop taking those calls?

Come on man, be intellectually fair here, you know that's not what I'm saying. If there's 5 people out in the woods and they run into a bear, it seems only logical that the one who pokes the damn thing is going to be the one that gets attacked, no?
Don't poke the bear, don't make yourself a target...
And therein lies the problem. We have to poke the bear because nobody else will. We get shit on for being isolationists and we get shit on if we poke the bear.
If the non-radical Muslims would take care of their own problem, we wouldn't have to be the world's police. They don't do anything about it because they are all trained by their bible that what the jihadists are doing is the right thing. Even if they personally don't do it, they don't do anything to stop it either. They need to fix the perception people have about Muslims. Nobody else can do it.
I said it before. Trump only has power because of the shit Obama has (or hasn't) been doing the past 8 years. They built up the resentment and they created this feeling of enough is enough by shoving this PC shit down everyone's throat.
