Again, Pitman did not want to tour anymore. Even the last tour. He wanted to stay in the studio. There's no reason to bash the guy. He had to deal with dumbass, douchebag trolls and lashed out.
His comments about it being a cash grab can't have been directed at trolls?
Also i'm not bashing him, I'm just saying, he's always seemed to act as if he's old gnr and as if the band was actually going to do something

It would be interesting to know.
I wonder if maybe he wasn't too thrilled about Slash and Duff returning and thought they should be subservient as the new guys lol
He always seemed to have the strangest attitude.

Don't get why people wouldn't be interested in Slash and Duff on the CD songs - they're the newest stuff we have - and now that the band is back together there's no reason to hate them out of politics like some do.
I mean we have 300 other boots of jungle over the years....nothing of Slash on better.....just sayin...
#1844 Re: Guns N' Roses » What does a reunion mean for Axl's Vault? » 528 weeks ago
Why? I agree they wouldn't need to financially. This will sell stadiums as a reunion tour (despite no Adler/Izzy) alone.
However to me artistically, while I love live shows and I'll be happy to go when they come, it's a game of diminishing returns. They've played these songs live thousands of times now. It's a great night for the locals who can go in any town. But at some point they played it better at some other show. There's a peak.
But if they were to write a new album - that's music that will last for the rest of our lives.

Something else that never made sense. Fine, in a live setting Pitman had a fairly auxiliary role, but to deny there is value in having someone with many talents for the purposes of writing seems strange.
I agree.
I think the problem though is that with only one album to their name in the modern era the writing role is basically irrelevant for practical purposes.
This band doesn't have Ac/Dc's "Rock or Bust" / "Black Ice" or Motley Crue's "Saints of Los Angeles" or Aerosmith's "Music From Another Dimension". They seem to operate outside of the standard - album/tour cycle that most bands follow.
If GNR was dropping a new record every 4-5 years even - then the theoretical role of someone joining the band to compose would be the foremost thing in all our minds.
However as it stands, the "new" songs in the set are songs like Chinese Democracy and Better which we have heard live for between 10-15 years respectively.
So people are skeptical about adding people for their studio value, then it's made worse that the bulk of the setlist is AFD / UYI tracks that don't require a 2nd keyboardist at all - and some would feel are actually diluted by the addition of such.
I mean i hope things change now and they drop a record, and if so, I'm happy for melissa to be part of it. But if the plan is 2 more years of AFD shows....I just don't know if we need her or anyone.

Hadn't heard of her before now, but to those dismissing her as someone who can just press some buttons. Please. Just by giving those videos that James posted a skim you can tell she's a highly talented multi instrumentalist who can also sing.
In fairness, so is pittman and he's usually also dismissed the same way.
To me the surprising thing is that the replaced that role at all, I figured it would go the way of the 3rd guitarist. I mean sure there's some samples to trigger during the CD era songs - but surely you could build that into Dizzy's keys.

Are there any clips of the CD songs?

Some serious misogyny going on in this thread tongue in cheek or not. It's fucked up.

I think some are a little awkward with her arrival because there's a few songs in the catalogue that, if not entirely misogynist themselves, certainly at least contain a lot of angry 'Male Perspective'. I'm talking about both the style and tone and lyrics of stuff like 'Locomotive'.
I'm not saying Axl himself is necessarily those things, but one of the interesting parts of GNR to me is how it can nail feelings of love, anger, racism, prejudice from different perspectives people might have and sometimes perhaps only have for a few moments in a certain situation.
I think that's why she feels odd up there to some, also, because this is a reunion....so it's about getting back to old GNR vibe....frankly...I can imagine a young fortus hanging out with a young slash and axl...easier than I can see them sharing a bus with a Melissa.
#1849 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Guns N Roses member Melissa Reese » 528 weeks ago
Fortus performed in the band for six years before appearing as a dog whistle on the album and people considered him a member. I'm not holding her to a different standard. She's onstage...she's in.
I agree she's a member, but, the comparison with fortus is a little strange. Fortus was playing the rhythm guitar parts - it's a slightly more important role than triggering the robot sounds in better

To me getting a record out is the most important thing now.
Obviously shows earn a lot of $ and are a lot of fun - but in terms of history we have a lot of boots of these songs already. (jungle et al)
In the studio any weakness with Axl's voice could be fixed.
It's time to let Slash and Duff rock up this vault tracks and release them.
