They sound different in the context of normal live variation vs studio recording. They sound the same in the context of comparing two different players and styles and interpretations.

If it’s Robin on the version we heard then Slash has done literally nothing to it. Which is unlikely when considering the other tracks we’ve heard.

Hard Skool hey hey might be copy and paste from EYE on YOU but the way Axl sings hey hey in Perhaps with Slash is different than what Axl sings hey hey with Robin on the Perhaps rough mix demo. And it's not copy and paste. Axl sang Perhaps all over again recently in the studio. Look at the ending of Perhaps. No Finck outro. But it does have Axl singing the ending different on Perhaps than its demo. It's clear as crystal. And like someone else said I say it's not Patti Hood lol or Baz. Baz is a LEGEND and an ICON. Axl I assume has sung The General and Monsters all over again in the studio recently too. Slash I bet recently has added his guitar style to The General and Monsters in the studio too. Another poster said that Robin is piercing and strident. Well, if you listen closely to the end solo of Monsters you hear something that is strident and piercing too. It's classic Robin Finck. Slash can't play at that level. He tried on Perhaps, but Slash just couldn't quite get there. That is not in the Slash wheelhouse.

Absolute dribble.

So far only the Bucket/Robin versions of The General and Monsters have leaked. The Slash/Duff reworked versions of The General and Monsters have yet to leak. And that's because AXL has those tightly locked under lock and key because the vinyl release is set for December of this year.

So is it confirmed the demo is Bucket/Robin? I thought that it was from the Vinyl release.

I hear a bit of Slash in Monsters. I’m not one to know the differences in guitar styles to be fair.

No it’s not confirmed. They’re guessing, like everyone else. They just want it to be Robin.

Which it could be but it’s based off no more knowledge than anyone else has.

I’d probably compare more with the recent releases than classic stuff. Does Monsters sound like Slash from UYI era? Not really. Does it sound like Slash from Absurd, Hardschool and Perhaps? It does to me.

Could still be Finck or even BH of course but my gut says Slash. Less sure on the General but the voice box is a Slash signature.

Taken the weekend to digest the tracks.

Firstly they have to be taken from different sources? General sounds like it’s been recorded through a pillow. Monsters is crisp by comparison.

Love Monsters, it’s single worthy. That vocal bridge is incredible, I love the build to it as well before the drums crash back in. Got to be S&D on it, doesn’t it? If it is then surely the possible sources must be quite limited? Cant be that many people with access to slash and duff takes of these songs?

General is interesting, definitely a grower but needs a better mix. Catchy chorus and really haunting. Great for this time of year. Monsters is the pick of the two for me though.

Really intrigued to see how these two tracks fit together (if they even do). I did wonder if it’s a kind if jekkyl and hyde to child abuse. The General being more haunting and sorrowful, Monsters more reflective and angry.

That can’t be true. That would be fucking insane.

It’s no.3 on main UK itunes chart at the minute, which is pretty impressive.

Elton just stole the show to be fair. What a way to sign off.

Yes I saw about Lana Del Rey. Most  reviews of Arctic Monkeys were unfavourable as well so I think GNR fayred well in comparison. Lets be honest there’s a fairly influential and vocal group who seem to think the headline spots for Glastonbury should be reserved exclusively for whichever artist ticks the most ‘persecuted minority’ boxes that year. GNR was never going to play well with them.

With that said I caught a bit of Christine and the Queens set after GNR. She is now a he apparently but fuck me what a voice.

The show itself was good. Axl looked like this one really mattered to him. He wasn’t helped by his sound guy though, they only seemed to tune his mic in halfway through every line. It looks like it was better at the show so maybe a tv feed issue? I thought Duff and Frank looked pretty tense and only seemed to relax into it half way through. Slash nailed it, some great icon photos of him from last night doing the rounds. Agree on the setlist comments, songs like CD, Slither, Absurd could have been left out to tighten it up a bit. A casual audience probably doesnt need them.

A bit dissppointed the only guest spot was Dave Grohl. He’s a crowd pleaser so it went down well but I was quietly hopeful of Elton on NR but nevermind.
