#11 Re: Guns N' Roses » If GNR releases nothing in 2023, is this the end for you? » 113 weeks ago
I don't believe Axl has ran out of the creativeness that wrote songs of the past. He didn't want to undermine GnR by doing something solo but also did not want to deal with the criticism of releasing new music with new GnR.
Now I think the issue may be that they reunited for the money and one party or both still has feelings about the past can't get together and write.
I also can't imagine it is easy for Axl to re record these (cd2) songs for the umpteenth time when he likely already had an older version he likes more..

My wife wanted to get me tickets to the Chicago show for my birthday and I told her don't waste your money. If they don't release these songs soon I'm not going to bother watching the same show I seen in 2017, this time with no pyro and Axls shot voice. We will see the week of if I feel like it and we will get tickets day of. I did that in 2017 as well when they played the Bradley Center and got great seats for 62 bucks!
The ONLY thing that would make me buy tickets early would be new music. Not just one song either. If you have 4 songs just release them there is no allure to this piecemeal bullshit.

It's probably nothing, but I don't think they would do this to promote a tour that's not in the US.
If there is anything to be announced along with this, I imagine we would hear by Sunday.
I don't think they did this to promote a tour or merch, there has to be a reason.

I am a big racing fan and a fan of NASCAR. NASCAR'S biggest race of the year is this Sunday, and as I was scrolling I seen that one of the cars is sponsored by...Guns n Roses?
I had to do a double take..
It's true though, the #43 is sponsored by GnR for this Sundays race.
Wonder why they would do that...

I was listening to this awhile ago and at 4:15 for a moment the solo sounded like the Buckethead nightrain solo from 02

If they’re going to do a US tour after the SA shows on such short notice, they will need an album release to get me interested. Even another single or two wouldn’t get me to go pay those prices to see the mostly the same show I seen in 2017.
#18 Re: Guns N' Roses » Could the first Snakepit album have been a good record with Axl / Duff » 152 weeks ago
I see it like this..
Axl was neurotic himself, opinionated, a bit hot headed, and he a vision which he didn’t want to give up. Slash and Duff were drinking like fish, using hard drugs and had Matt and Gilby on there side as they were more friendly with each other because they all used/drank. Axl isolated himself for those reasons.
Now based on stuff I have read, Axls take on it, ‘Slash is the Vargas’, I feel as if Slash turned the other members against Axl and frankly I think if he got his way maybe we would have seen GnR without Axl. We all know him as the legendary voice and everything but a lot of people didn’t like his voice, especially live, back then. Metallica famously mocked Axl (I believe part of the reason for the switch to clean vocals, wanted to prove himself as a singer). This is why Axl replaces Gilby who is already a non original member who also hasn’t recorded anything yet, with a friend, Paul Tobias. Axl wanted someone in his corner.
It’s my belief Slash put out SnakePit to spite Axl. That in turn led to the downtime and more side bands/fracturing of the relationship.
As far as Axl wanting to change direction? Look i like a good amount of what Slash has put out solo but just as much is hot garbage.. imagine a compromise between the two.. it would indeed have been a great album. Better than illusions, while not sounding like anything they’ve put out before. It would have sucked for GnR to put out albums like AC/DC did, all very similar sounding. Btw AC/DC kicks ass.
It’s a shame when you listen to the versions of silkworms and hardskool that they couldn’t have been released with the 94 lineup. Had we not heard the unreleased versions of these tracks, and assumed they were written together as a group, I feel we would be talking today about how they were great follow up tracks to the illusion records. Still classic sounding, while also moving in a new direction. A shame really.

The only reason Team Brazil is the ‘management’ for Guns, is because they will do whatever the fuck Axl tells them to do or not do.
Axl is essentially the manager of GnR

Only thing in your post I would disagree with is that it has anything to do with Slash and Duff rejoining. Slash has put out NINE full non-GNR records and countless guest appearances since he originally left GNR. Duff isn't a guy that's going to get in the way of putting out a record. Their presence on a record, as members of the classic GNR line up, would only encourage a label to support a release not detract from it. It's not them.
I know it’s not them, what I meant is that essentially writing/recording/re recording and talking about getting it out there is impossible because like Matt Sorum Eluded to ‘they’re walking on eggshells’. So it’s entirely on Axl I agree. I can’t imagine Axl trying to tell Slash ‘re do that solo I don’t like it’ but you know that’s probably happening to some degree because the album was finished already! And as Axl said at China Exchange ‘I was a big fan of the old lineup’ speaking of the last iteration before the reunion. I also remember Alan Niven speaking about how Slash and Duff were annoyed at recording Axle Chinese leftovers or something like that… this is all so strange. I still wonder what prompted this whole reunion. Did Ron and Tommy leave to make room for Slash and Duff? Did they quit and leave Axl with no other option but to reunite? Weather or not money was the main driving force to get it going, it surely is the only thing that’s keeping it going now.
