They're classic pics aren't they Monkeychow. It's bizzare to see them actually coming down from the trees looking for water and cooler/shadier places. I thought this pic was awesome too:

#2102 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose Speaks to Billboard » 900 weeks ago
When Axl took the name with him he took a double edged sword. There were positives with having the brand name and setting up a new band under that banner, but there was also baggage that came with it. Consequently he is continually faced with that baggage from the media & certain portions of the fan base. It's a fact of life and it was always going to happen, I'm sure he knew it was an inevitable consequence.
Clearly Axl thought he was bigger than the name itself and could overcome any baggage associated with the name, hence the route he took. But to date it doesn't seem like he has been able to. Whether he likes it or not there seems to be a large portion of the media and fans that simply refuse to accept that its Guns N' Roses unless a guy with a top hat is on lead, regardless of what Axl and NuGNR do. I'm not saying that's my view but it certainly seems to be the view of a lot of different parties.
He has had 15 odd years to try and change that view and show the world it's still GN'R without Slash. Unfortuantely for him it doesn't seem like he has succeeded and maybe he will never ever change the weight of public opinion to the extent that he would like. But there's no point him blaming Slash because a large portion of the public and media believe Slash is just as much Guns N' Roses as Axl is, and without him it's not GN'R. Axl took his chances, played his hand but unfortunately for him it seems he lost that round. Suck it up and move on.

Like Smoking Guns I'm kinda over hearing how difficult his life has been and how tremendously lucky we are that he has been able to overcome such adversity. How all these obstacles and challenges have been put in his way by people, and this person is out to get him, and the record company is fucking him around, the press hate him and the shooter on the grassy knoll is trying to get him etc etc etc. Everything is somebody elses fault, but I see one common denominator - AXL!
Besides everyone has fucken challenges, I wonder at the moment where my next $ is coming from at work because of this fucken recession - it's the realities of life. But I don't make myself out to be a martyr over the daily issues I have to face.
Look it's really cool the guy is speaking (from my unqualified position) it sounds like he needs to talk. Plus I genuinely want to hear what the guy has to say. I'm hoping he might actually tell us what his plan is, what will the lineup for a tour be, what are his thoughts after that, another album with that lineup or another direction? etc etc. If he is going to talk in articles and essentially dwell on things like how evil Slash is and how poor Axl doesn't get a fair go then please tell us exactly what it is that Slash has done, enlighten us. Did Slash sleep with his sister or something or give him aids???
I get that he has no interest in a reunion, but FUCK let go of some of the resentment and bitterness then. Besides you forgive somone not so they can feel better, but you do it for yourself - so you feel better. It doesn't mean he has to have the guy around for beers and a BBQ every weekend but Jesus Christ be the bigger man and put this silly feud to rest once and for all. For someone that wants to move forward in a world without Slash he sure seems to still be consumed by the guy.
As for the press giving him a fair go, I think that to a certain degree it's a bit like getting respect. People can't give you respect you need to earn it. Same goes here, positive actions are his best chance of winning over the press, media dot coms etc. I wish him luck with this because at the moment he certainly has his work cut out for him.
I'm willing to move forward with Axl because the guys got a shitload of talent. I just wish he would stop looking over his shoulder. It's hard to go in a new direction when you are continually looking in the rearview mirror.

He can't honestly be surprised that they left him high and dry with the promo I mean c'mon. The throw it at the wall etc etc comment... He has to be grateful they still even have the energy to pick up the shit to throw at the wall. As for the "cut throat loan sharks", presumably it's only a natural progression that if you are getting fucked over year in year out, when you finally get the whip hand I'm not surprised that there are people that are looking to dish out some retribution in return.
#2105 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose Speaks to Billboard » 900 weeks ago
In regards to Slash, I read a desperate fan's message about, what if one of us were to die and looking back I had the possibility of a reunion now, blah blah blah. And my thoughts are, "Yeah, and while you're at the show your baby accidentally kicks a candle and burns your house down, killing himself and the rest of your family."
I've certainly thought that way before and posed the question - what if one of them dies before a reunion
Axl seems to believe that situation will occur. It must be a massive burden to carry around with you such animosity year after year, personally I don't know if I would have the energy that far down the track to hold a grudge that long I would be fascintated to know some of the background regarding their lovers tiff.

And this place continues to depress me more and more every day.
If you need me, I'll be at HTGTH.
How about you discuss the latest Classic Rock issue over there with Alan Niven's cover story regarding the GN'R name. See how long that thread lasts there.

I'm curious, what is the statute of limitations for suing if you signed something under duress?
In Axl's website post on mygnr he says:
So let’s start here… the whole Axl wouldn’t go on stage yada yada… is complete and utter crap.
Never happened, all made up, fallacy and fantasy. Not one single solitary thread of truth to it. Had that been the case I would’ve have been cremated years ago legally, could’ve cleaned me out for the name and damages. It's called under duress with extenuating circumstances. In fact the time that was mentioned the attorneys were all in Europe with us dealing with Adler depositions.
However, later on in the website post Axl says:
Media and others ignorantly, wrongly and falsely harped on about it at mine and the fans expense for years and Slash has hoped to use all that to continually sue and have some sort of legal nonsense going on behind the scenes in an effort to reverse things. He wouldn’t have been able to get the support and action on the part of his various team members over the years to do so if the truth were out there especially when the statute of limitations had run out years ago.
Now according to Axl the band signed over the name rights to him before the UYI tour when the contract renegotations took place. Is it therefore possible that Axl threatened that he wouldn't do the tour (even though dates were booked) unless the rights were signed over to him. Then somewhere through the chinese whispers and passage of time this event was bastardized into the "Axl wouldn't go on stage unless we signed" version.
Regardless of the specifics, it seems plausible that Slash and Duff could have signed over the name under duress and never bothered to challenge the situation until it was too late. i.e. after the statute of limitations had run out. I mean the UYI tour went for over 2 years - could this have been long enough for the statute of limitations to expire?

The WTTJ Live Era video is pretty good:

Well if Axl really is waiting until the 6 month exclusive deal with Best Buy is up before talking, touring, promoting etc - then this could be plausible.
