can you post a link to that announcement please?

I google translated this, didn't say anything about a new album.
Maybe he was talking about another link/announcement...?

Hm? Obviously I ditn't read it. If that is the case, that's wierd... and sucks! Germany has a lot of people...

as it seems, it will only be one show in germany... and 7(!!!) shows in france!
what`s wrong with the organizers of this tour?
I'll bet more dates in Germany are coming.

And one show (so far...) announced for Germany!

I'd love to see them bring back the PPV concept from the LA & Vegas shows last tour. Obviously the technical glitches need to be worked out. But i'd love to stay apart of the GN'R on tour experience from the comfort of my own home.
After you've already seen the show in person, PPV's like that become alot less hassel, far cheaper, and relaxing.
I'd love to see that continue. If GN'R really got their heads together and became a strong touring act they could archive all kinds of shows on demand and for download for a monthly subscription price on the new website. That would be fuggin' awesome!
I'd also love for this to happen!
There are a gezillion ways to do stuff like this. The fact that they've done it at least four times allready, shows that there are no legal, publishing, label-whatever obstacles stopping them!
Earlier today I tweeted Fernando and GNR and asked if there were plans on some iClips streaming from the club-gigs. No response so far...

gunsnroses: THANK YOU NYC for the overwhelming support! Still a limited number of VIP tickets for NYC shows available here http://t.co/vuSpsYTb

I've noticed Metallica are planning a tour of Europe in the coming months. I have heard they're also gonna be recording during 2012.
So are they touring Death Magnetic from 2008? No, the Lou Reed album doesen't count! No, they're touring with their hits (actually they're litteraly touring The Black Album from 1991, playing the whole album start to finish!) and playing songs the fans want to hear and see.
Well I consider myself a supporter of the new band but it's hardly the same situation.
Since 1992 metallica have released 4 studio albums, 4 live albums, a covers album and now LuLu - and that's not including stuff like the EPs with B sides and that kind of thing.
GNR have released 1 album, 1 Live Album and a covers album.
Now it's not just about the quantity I guess, as some of those extra metallica albums arn't so good. But it's the mentality of things.
Metallica have done shows with traditional rival bands (megadeth) and unusual stuff for better or worse.
Can't see GNR doing a tour with VR. Can't see GNR deciding to play UYI1 from start to finish.
I think a closer comparision would be Ac/Dc - 1 album every 10 years or so and always the same setlist with a couple of recent songs added.
I don't have a problem with it...just saying it's not really the same thing.
My example was only to highlight the missunderstood "rule", that in order to tour a continent/market for the second, third or even fourth time post release-date of the last album, the band must have a brand new album out there.
Those days are gone!
Bands go out and play if promoters think they can sell tickets. And Metallica are masters at being creative about their "excuse" to go on tour (" Escape From The Studio", "Sick Of The Studio Tour", "Vacation Tour", "The Big 4", "The Black Album Tour 2012" etc etc etc")
Nothing wrong with it. Just as there's nothing wrong with GNR doing an "intimate tour" on the east coast of the states or hitting the festivals in Europe for the second year in a row. They keep the brand alive!
For the avarage concert-goer a brand new album is just a bonus. Might be the other way around for us truly hardcores, but hey, you gotta be realistic!

This is supposed to be today's big announcement:
February 10 - Roseland Ballroom - New York, NY
February 12 - Terminal 6 - New York, NY
February 15 - The Ritz (Webster Hall) - New York, NY
February 19 - House of Blues - Chicago, IL
February 23 - The Fillmore - Silver Spring, MD
February 24 - House of Blues - Atlantic City, NJIt's really too bad that they couldn't have announced this a few weeks ago. I really don't think I'll be able to plan and execute a trip to Chicago on such short notice.
If something else happens during these dates (new songs, announcement of next album), I guess that's kinda cool. Pluss it's a bit larger venues than those intimate shows from 2010, so that fans actually have a chance to go see them. But like Russ said, too bad this announcement comes so close to the actual gigs!

Fernando tweeted something vague about something happening in New York on Tuesday.
The more they don't care to actually inform their fans, the less I give a shit what's actually going to happen.
Could also be that they're doing the Fashion Week in New York, again?
On their wiki-page it says that Fashion Week is a semi-annual event held in Febuary and September each year.
