Matt on the official board also made this statement regarding STP:
Quote from Matt on the official board:
"When dates are confirmed, you guys will be the first to know. They have a new management and they are very good at communicating things to me. Sit tight and enjoy the ride."
So it sounds like STP have been in talks about a reunion for a while now. And it also sheds light on just what this rumor entails. I can't see them going with a whole new management team and Scott talking about recording a new album, and Dean talking about 'the time we're about to spend together is a true celebration' and thsi being a 'reunion of epic proportions'- and have it just be a reunion tour. It will definently be more than that.

Jonathan Cohen of Billboard.com reports that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and LINKIN PARK will head the bill for the 2008 Edgefest in Toronto, which is returning after a one-year hiatus. The event will be held July 12 at Downsview Park.
Rounding out the bill are SAM ROBERTS BAND, THE BRAVERY, ASHES DIVIDE, ATTACK IN BLACK, ARKELLS, THE COAST, CREATURE, THE FLATLINERS, HOSTAGE LIFE, MODERNBOYS MODERNGIRLS, THE STEREOHOAX, SWEET THING and USS.
Tickets go on sale Saturday (March 1) to the general public; members of 102.1 The Edge's Inside Edge club will have access to a discounted pre-sale tomorrow.

They're the confirmed headliners.

things have really slowed down on the STP front...we had those 2 announcements right quick then one was removed from the website and now nothing
STP were always quiet though. With them, no news is good news. It means Scott's either in rehab or not arrested.

I'm lost
May 17th? Perhaps they didn't get the notice, but STP are back for their first show in 5 years that very day.
Unless of course VR are getting a new singer....

STP is gone from the rockfest website now
weird....either they jumped the gun or STP's status is in limbo with scott in rehab
Actually STP were just rumored to be playing Rock Fest, it was never anything official.
I don't know if you remember, but fall of last year a guy posted online saying that Scott had called into a radio station and said STP might be playing Rock Fest in 2008.

Talks about Buckcherry getting back together, then the new album 15, then how he was almost singer of Velvet Revolver.

Neemo, it works the same the other way around.
Most STP fans don't like GNR either and rag on Axl for being a pompous asshole who can't release a record.
Both sides have valid points.

Three favorite 'grunge era' bands- STP, AIC, Soundgarden.
Since Neemo failed to put up an option for us younger posters, i had to choose the first option, because none of the other ones fit.
STP is damn good. Scott's lyrics may not be the best and most clear out there, but backed by Robert's bass, Eric's drums, and Deans guitar they were definently a powerhouse.
