Baz needs to pull his head out of Axl's ass.
You can never understand how Axl feels (that goes for Baz too!), because none of us have had stardom like his. It was quite pointless for Baz to keep mentioning Axl through every interview he does. He talks about Axl more than he talks about his record that is coming out.
From what i've heard, he can promote Angel Down without referencing Axl all the time. I can see making a couple off hand comments, and then going on to talk about the album's material, since it is strong enough material to stand on it's own.

If it's true, the record company must have a pretty optimistic view of the industry. The way I see it, record sales are going to keep falling and falling until these companies are bankrupt. If I were Universal, I'd try to rush this thing out as quickly as I could.
The idea of promoting a record for 7-8 weeks is crazy anyways. It'll leak halfway through that time period, so why not try a creative, fast-paced short term promotion plan?
This is Chinese Democracy we are talking about. Just the fact that there is a date (no matter how soon it is) is a lot of promotion right there.
And i agree, they need to hurry it and not hold it up. Every week they wait is less the album will sell at this point and less of a chance that they will have of breaking even.
If they have the official album, release a single, announce a date, send out promotional materials, do ads, radio, television, interview and release the album within 2-4 weeks of the single. In that order too! Release a single without telling anyone. It'll have that suprise factor involved, then you can announce a date within a few days of the single and instantly start promotion.

This is definently a scary time right now. Bush may just stretch us (as an empire), past the point from which we could ever recover, if that hasn't already happened. Our allies hate us, now how about we lose their support too? Good idea Bush.

There was a review (the one that said it's the best metal record in a decade) that also said Axl sang lead on at least one track too. Maybe there were other versions of the songs floating around at some point, but he's definitely not singing lead on these.
It's very possible.
As for this album being the metal album of the decade, that's clearly not true. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album so far, just not the metal album of the decade.

I have no idea what the hell Baz was on when he said Axl does lead vocals on 3 songs. Axl did a dual lead part on Back in the Saddle, he's done backup on the other 2.
However the song sounds pretty good.

James you bring up a scary point. Axl has just released material, that he barely worked on. Finck and Dizzy (who've been there longest), must be feeling some resentment towards Axl.
If they choose to leave, i wish them all the luck in the world. After this nightmare they've lived through the deserve success. I can't imagine how it would feel to work on a project for a decade of your life because one man says it's not good enough to be released.
