#2581 Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Alone: An Interview with Brooke Ellis » 778 weeks ago

At the end of May, Brooke Ellis came forward with an open letter accusing former GNR drummer Steven Adler and his associates of essentially screwing him out of a book deal. Ellis is professional writer, avid music fan, and was the founder/administrator of Adler’s site for nearly a decade. His work has been featured in publications such as Classic Rock Magazine, Skinnie Magazine, Culture Magazine and for music merch retailer, Hot Topic. Ellis’s allegations leave very little to the imagination: A deal was made in which he would write Steven’s autobiography, and after submitting the initial draft, team Adler washed their hands of him and took credit for the work. The book, “My Appetite For Destruction, Sex, Drugs and Guns N’ Roses” went on to become a New York Times best seller with credit to Steven Adler and Lawrence Spagnola.

I had a roommate in 1990 who found out he was HIV positive. He has never taken AIDS drugs and still is alive and doing just fine in NYC today. I also met a guy who was one of the first men ever diagnosed with AIDS in San Francisco in the early 80's. He's 50 something now and in amazing shape. I'd say in the top percentile of his age group and probably most men 20 yrs younger. He about broke my hand when he shook it. When he was diagnosed he changed his diet and ate mainly "super foods" rich in antioxidants and began to exercise regularly.

I've also known maybe a dozen men in the 90's who died (all relatively young) from this disease. All were heavy drug users and partied hard til the end.

I am 40 and wear converse. I used to wear 'em when I was 15-18 too.

Docs I wore in my early 20's, just like every guy in their 20's in my area did, lol.

I say wear what you want, who gives a shit.

Remember, a lot of people thought this was a lie, too. Axl getting into a fight with Tommy Hilfiger is much more bizarre and surreal, so I'm inclided to believe DJ.

I don't remember anybody thinking that was a lie.

DJ is a dumb ass.

Game Change, an amazing book about the 08 election, and Ozzy's book were the last two I read. Knocked 'em both out quickly, a couple days for each one.

I've seen so many great bands up close in Vegas. That's another one of my favorite things about that city. And they ALL roll through there, you'll get to see whoever you want eventually.

Lmao, really the only thing Kutcher has ever done that was good and funny was That 70's Show, and if him on 2HM is just a re-cycle of Kelso, it's gonna be Happy Days without Richie.

Kutcher is incredibly untalented and also incredibly lucky.
