It's a shame for the family.

And Scientology is nothing more than a cult. Shame so many talented people have fallen for this bullshit.

I had to do some research for a Theology class a long time ago and there are so many horror stories. A lot involving people who died of normally unthreatening illnesses because people wouldn't go to normal doctors, but rather Scientologist doctors who wouldn't administer everyday drugs and prescriptions.

Ha, I love how one of the scenes was Jason Segel dropping his towel from 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'. There's a clip at 3:52 of Benicio Del Toro. What movie is that from?

I remember various controversies with the Travoltas over this kid because they are into Scientology.

Well Kelly's already blamed his health and death on toxins you find in such items as household cleaners. I'm guessing we can expect them to go extra crazy with the Scientology now.

They just lost their son. They can go as "crazy" as they feel they need to. People grieve in their own ways.

My condolences to the Travolta family.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not bagging on them for the loss of their son or anything like that. I honestly feel for them and am in no way trying to make light of that. All I was saying was that they're trying to use Scientologist reasoning for the cause of the death, and this could push them even further into their religion. We might not see John in movies anymore.

Was anybody else into them back in the mid 90s? I recently started listening to them again and I'm still to this day amazed with a great songwriter Kevin Griffin is.

Lose weight. 10 pounds would do it.

Get a guitar and start learning. Buckethead has inspired me. It's late to learn, I'm 35, but I want to give it a shot.

Any advice for a 1st guitar? Acoustic? Electric?

I also suggest an electric. Hell, for cheaps pick up a Mexican Strat. They're great guitars for the money. I suggest an electric because the tension's usually less and the action (distance from the string to the fretboard) is lower, so it's easier on your fingers.

Andddd...... it's never too late to learn.

I second that one. I would like to quit again.

Other resolutions include

-Going back for my business degree. I just applied at Eastern Michigan, so I've started on that one.

-Getting out and playing some live shows.

-Engineering/Producing at least 3 albums.

Communist China, why would you put Vernon Reid on rhythm?

and probably name recognition...i'm already scared about what the new mastodon record is gonna sound like.... but if y'all remember, that's why zakk wylde hired Michael Beinhorn. Roadrunner wanted him to get a "name" producer, even though he had produced all the previous BLS records. the killswitch guys prolly heard he was doing the mastodon record  and figured "why not"...
these bands are on the cusp of something, and their labels are prolly pushing them to appeal to a wider audience. B O' B has a mainstream track record...

that's why i give huge props to lamb of god, who, after their last record sort of went for the full on pantera tribute, are apparently not giving a shit who RR wants to produce their record, and went with Josh Wilbur.... the guy who engineered the drums and guitars on sacrament and a guy i went to high school with in maine...

Yeah, I was wondering why the hell he's been using a Parker for the past year-ish, but I guess it's because it's because of his back, the Parker being so light and all. I think Beinhorn may have been more up their alley than O'Brien tho.

Good band. The Holy Diver cover is a great current spin on the song. Hopefully there is more singing than screaming on this new album. I'm a fan of a few songs but don't really know the band all that well.

Oh they're a great band, easily one of my favorites. The weird thing is that Adam D, who plays guitar for the band, went to Berkley for recording and has produced/engineered all of their albums so far. I don't know why he's bringing someone else on this album, he hasn't done any wrong so far.
