Richards looks good since he cut the booze. Probably gonna live another 10 years now. His constitution is amazing.
Problem with Axl was he got burnt with the media early. He was too real for them. The Stones never had this problem and that's why you get these articles. You have to drag something out of Axl now. I had hoped the reunion would alleviate this somewhat, but apparently not. He's more tight lipped than ever.

I dreamt about this song last night. It definitely has vocals.

Earlier the better. A nin style GN'R record is never going to be huge. The less anticipation the better. Get it all out of your system. It should have been out in the summer of 2001 at the latest. Get out on tour then have the VMA02 moment be a success with Axl knowing not to blow himself out in 30 seconds. Do the follow up in 03-04, then see where it goes.
Downside is that a reunion might never happen if nu-gnr is a success.

Eagles is one of the weirdest bands in the world. When I first saw the Big Lebowski and the Dude says "I hate the fucking Eagles" I never quite got what he was on about. They seemed respectable enough to me, with a handful of well known hits. As I got older I started to understand the sentiment. Until Hotel California with Felder and Walsh, the music was always kind of lame. Unadventurous, timid even. There was talent there, but very restrained.
Glenn Frey is like the Denny's manager who wants to play in a band because it is more profitable, and Don Henley is the equally shallow guy who wants to be a rock star for the money and jet set lifestyle. Both of them strike me as people I would not under any circumstances want to socialize with. I would keep any young daughters far away from Don Henley, that's for sure. That dude literally creeps me out when I see him in interviews. If a body was ever found on his property I would not be the least surprised. There is a very disturbed mind hiding behind those eyes.
When I think about great moments in the Eagles it is Randy Meisner, Don Felder and Joe Walsh that comes to mind, not Frey and Henley.

All of it caused by clinging on to the GN'R name. Even if he wanted to make an album like that the record company would never back it. More or less that is what seems to have happened. Instead we got an eclectic disk of some non committal "NIN type songs" and a whole bunch of UYI feat Finck and Bucket which rarely fit together.
This why I think OMG is so interesting. If they went balls out with that type of music we could have had a special album. So far removed from the GN'R sound that it would never suffer under comparisons. It would be able to speak for itself.

Boxing has been a shadow of itself since Tyson retired, but now it has become an outright parody. These guys would get destroyed in one round by any top 70s boxer. It would be an utter embarrassment. I swear these guys can hardly box at all. Everything has become so controlled and sanitized there is no excitement.
People want to see these fights because they either want to see the youtube star get beat, or the other way around, but what you really get is a friendly stage play with no real damage being dealt in a prearranged outcome. It's just pure shit.

Definitely. It's a tough spot I'll give them that. If they do a real OG-5 reunion for a couple of shows, then everything afterwards will feel second rate. And if you don't call them up at all, then you'll get shit for that too. At the end of the day it's not Axl & Co's fault that Izzy and Steven can't be relied upon to do a full tour. But pay the fucking guy. I'm sure he needs the money.

Literally just kids here.

They only bought his plane ticket. If they're paying fucking Melissa Reese to be an anime Teddy Zig Zag, then surely they can pay an original member for coming down and doing a job for them. If they're bitter about shit then don't call him up in the first place. Since when did they all become Hetty Green?

It's amazing that Steven is still alive. I remember reading his book, thinking even Keith Richards would take a bow to his excess. One of the funniest stories I've read from a rock band is when he tried to land a record deal, claiming he was completely clean and sober, and just as the suits are meeting him, one of his dealers drives up to give him heroin.
That being said, the way Axl, Slash and Duff treated him was completely shameless. It's fine that they're only giving him a couple of shows, but at least pay the man! They're out there raking in millions every night and still they can't find the heart to throw their old band mate a bone. That kind of cynicism is staggering to me.
