The Desmond Child thing gets old. It isn't like he wrote the song by himself. It was a collaboration and funny thing to me is, he never had anywhere near the hits with other artists as he did with Bon Jovi, so that should tell u something.
Bon Jovi,also, wrote plenty of hits without Desmond Child. Dead Or Alive, Lay Your Hands On Me, Living In Sin, Ill Be There For You, Bed of Roses, Always, Who Says You can't Go Home.
D, was it you who recommended the documentary about Bon Jovi ("When We Were....something) a while back?
I saw that. A good documentary, wether you're a fan or not. It was interesting to see how Jon Bon Jovi ran his "business". I was suprised at how much it was basicly a one-man-show in the sense of behind the scenes decision-making etc etc.
I've always guessed that he's the boss in that band (considering the name and all), but I never knew it operated at the level it does. The other band members were basicly session-players and didn't seem to mind (at least as far as I could tell).
Prolly similar to the way GNR is run (after mid 90's). Except in Bon Jovi's case, the session-players have stuck with him since the start(?).
It seems to be the norm in many of the huge bands. In most cases it works and in a few cases not so good. When it gets to a certain level, you can't have 5-6 people running the ship, I guess...

And they seem out to prove a point. Unfortunately, not enough people are realizing their greatness according to the attendance at some of the shows. Not that I was expecting anything different, just pointing it out. It has to be a little strange for GNR to go from playing to 70K in South America to 7K a night in the US. But it hasn't affected their attitude or effort.
I've thought a bit about this lately...
The shows so far seem to have been really well received by, not only the few diehards, but the casuals and the media/critics. And the band are firing on all sylinders as if, like you said, they're out to prove a point.
I think they know that if they wanna have a chance to do another arena tour (or maybe larger venues), the crowds that are attending the current tour are gonna have to be persuaded to come again next time AND bring a friend or three!
And the way to do that, is to do exactly what they're doing now, being nice (no riots), interacting with the fans, rocking the FUCK out and giving them a show worth their money!
And doing it like this, the casuals (the majority at the gigs) are not gonna just tell ONE friend about the awesome GNR-gig. They're gonna tell ALL of their friends and EVERYBODY at work/school!
So that next time GNR roll through town (CDII-tour 2013? 
), people KNOW they're gonna miss something cool if they're not there!

If some current members attend their boss' party, how'd that be cocky and arrogant?
Tommy's been in the band nearly 14 years. You go tell him he has no right.
He's saying Axl would be cocky and arrogant enough to demand it.
I meant that Axl would want the current lineup as the MAIN band. Being at the event/ceremony and performing, with scattered guest spots from Izzy and Duff (as a thank you for what they helped build!). That is my guess on how Axl would want it play out
Tommy should def be inducted! So should Pitman, Fortus, Ron, Frank, Matt and Gilby!
My view is, if you've been a member of the band and recorded on a released album, you're in! No Teddy zig-zag big bag, Tracy, Reberta or horn sections!
But it is a bizarre situation. And regarding who gets inducted and not, how does that even work? I tried to look it up once, don't remember what I found out, but I think it wasn't clear enough to wrap my head around it. Was Rob inducted with Metallica? If so, the list of GNR-inductees is gonna be loooong.

I'm guessing there won't be a full AFD-linup performance. It sorta sends the "wrong" signal out there. Axl knows that if he does that, there's gonna be a whirlwind of comments and articles about THAT fact. Kinda works against what he's been trying to accomplish since around 95-97.
My guess on how Axl would want the RRHF ceremony to play out would be: current line present (yes, I think he's cocky and arrogant enough to do that!) with guest spots from Izzy, Duff, Gilby (or maybe Adler and Sorum, depending on what state his relationship with them is at the time)..OR... just blow the whole thing of, with a cocky and arrogant comment on facebook/twitter.

Understandbly, there is a lot of emotions amung fans when it comes to "who should be at the ceremony?" and "which members should consider themselvs inducted?" etc etc.
My view is that, if you've recorded on a released GNR-album, you're in!
That leaves out only one member (as of now). That could change before the ceremony, if a new album is released.
And I guess that if RRHF wants Axl to be there at the ceremony, he will prolly demand that HE chooses who he wants to be on that stage with. Considering recent comments by Slash that "we've actually been pretty cool lately" or something like that, I'm not 100% sure that excludes him.
