Pantera - Drag the Waters

I think they are complete shit.
I've tried multiple times to get into this band, and it never happens. Downloaded this new record, giving them one last chance, three songs into it, I deleted it.
Yeah I actually took this one out of my computer as well. The one song I mentioned was alright but the album just got too eh I can't put it into words.
#3724 Re: Guns N' Roses » Baz now claims 4 GNR albums exist » 944 weeks ago
He may have enough material for 4 separate albums, but what I want to know is how good is the material that he has. None of the demos that I have heard so far suggests that this album will be a masterpiece. I still say he never releases the album. At least with this lineup.
I think he knows that he's waited entirely too long for this album to ever have a fair chance with the media/critics. Unless it is truly the best rock album ever, he will be slammed.

I agree with some here. The demos are good songs but not "masterpieces" or anything to that degree. That's not slamming the songs either because I do enjoy them. He has waited too long but I think there is still a small chance that the album will get released. I don't think it will be put down in the media by critics if it's not the best rock album ever. If it's a really good solid album then I think it will get the respect it deserves. Anything average or a little better then I could see more of a negative reaction. On those demos alone I don't see it fairing too well.
As for really being four albums worth of material? There could be. I bet there are some really great songs recorded that could never be released. They have been at it for so long there going to be a lot of material. Good and bad.
Bach did say four albums worth of material in the interview. I heard it today on DHA here in New Jersey. They also played Back in the Saddle Again and Love is a Bitch Slap but the version without Axl on it. Pretty entertaining interview overall.
Anyone think there is a hint of truth to this, or is Baz just blowing smoke? Whether you love him or hate him, he is really approaching backlash territory here. You can only hype GNR and talk about Axl for so long before the fanbase gets tired of it, and with him releasing an album next month and depending on GNR fans to buy this record, he needs to cool it. Start talking about what HE did on the record. Last time I checked, Angel Down wasn't a 3 song EP.
In this interview today he talked a lot about his band and their contributions to the album. He talked about his own vocals and told a few stories about the recording sessions with him and his band and producer. He definitely promoted himself and his band before Axl Rose's parts on the album. Bach and the DJ did make a joke about China actually getting democracy before the album and GNR slashing the price in half or something to that effect though. But that and the four albums part was all brought up by the guy talking to Bach and asking if had heard Chinese Democracy. Bach isn't banking on Axl and the GNR name he is out there selling himself and his band of talented musicians.

Do you look at college athletes and try to scoop up their names before they have their people get them? I've thought about investing like that.
That's not a bad idea man. I might have to look into that myself.

What does it mean when I as a fan of Axl and GNR don't even care enough to download this?
I'd call you lazy

Communist China wrote:It's a Sebastian Bach album, mainstream radio and rock will ignore it, like how they ignore GN'R. Rock-based radio stations and publications- will probably like it.
I agree totaly. People who like the hard rock sound (like myself) will like it and people who don't will ignore it rather than bash it much because they just dont pay any attention to the 'has been' rock music scene. I think it would be riskier if it was experemental in some way - as then it would prob get ignored by the popular music scene and then rejected by fans of the old school rock.
Exactly. He's making music for his fans and fans of this music. He isn't trying to break new ground. It's so tiring to hear people and their fucked up expectations and when they aren't reached it's automatically considered trash.
#3729 Re: Guns N' Roses » Stuck Inside » 944 weeks ago
I like it better than the last song. It's a pretty rockin' song and even if it sounds some what "dated" get the fuck over it. Did you expect earth shattering modern material from Bach? If you did you are living in a dream world. Baz is going to make the music he makes and that's hard rock/metal with sounds of his past thrown in for good measure. I'm not trying to convince anyone here to like it but I am just pointing out what it is and not what people want to make it out to be.
Axl sounds good but I do agree with him not quite fitting into the song. Still a nice touch for the song. Metal Mike came through in this one.
#3730 Re: Guns N' Roses » KFRQ plays Baz/Axl song Back in the Saddle » 944 weeks ago
It won't effect Guns N' Roses. Axl is just singing and from the song we have heard he sounds pretty damn good. He has nothing to do with the making of the album. If anything the guest spot will end up being the only positive spin on the album if it is as shitty as you think it will be.
