No military should ever take over control of their country. Civilian control of the military is crucial to any democracy.

Could you imagine how apoplectic the GOP would be if:
The Democratic candidate's wife was foreign born with a thick accent.
Who was the third Missus, clearly a trophy wife, after the other two were traded in/cheated on.
Who then gave a speech which plagiarized two paragraphs directly from the current Republican First Lady.
Just imagine that for a moment...
Versus the Clintons who have a marriage of convenience and still fuck around on each other? And weren't all of Trumps wives trophy wives? My opinion on Trump is clear, but I also think it's highly fucking unlikely someone intentionally stole Michelle Obama's speech and thought they could get away with it. Maybe I can walk into the police station and light up a crack pipe and no one will notice either.
Didn't people accuse Ryan in 2012 of plagiarizing Cobain because he said he called his daughter "bean" when they first saw her on the ultrasound. I guess Kurt and Courtney were the only ones to ever notice a month old fetus looks like a bean.

But when you compare black and white communities with similar education and poverty rates, there is still a huge disparity in crime. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal decisions. This is the 21st century. Everyone knows if they stick their dick in someone without a condom, there is a high chance a baby comes out 9 months later. People understand that a high school diploma is required to secure just about every job in this country. You can't even join the Army without a diploma, and some jobs literally just require you to run copper wires or shoot guns at bad guys. Not exactly the epitome of an intellectual challenge.
Like you, I had shit growing up. I never went hungry, but I went to public school in the poorest county in Ohio. I still remember my 3rd grade teacher showing us slides on the overhead from the 1960s claiming Mars had vegetation that bloomed in the summer months, or school books in the mid-90s written in the early 80s. You don't need to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth to be successful. But if you didn't know your father and choose to impregnate a woman and not be present when the child is born, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Until black american start making personal decisions that positively affect them and their progeny, no other laws or programs are going to have any positive effect. A black man who was born to a single mother who practically abandoned him to go chase ethnic men while his grandparents raised him is now President of the most powerful country in the world. Granted that is certainly an exception, but so is anyone becoming President. But there's also a huge chasm of opportunity between selling rocks on the street and being the leader of the free world.

I came from nothing. In fact I had less than nothing. It took me years just to get to zero. So spare me.
Nobody is "shaming" anybody...just asking them to think outside their own existence, if only for a moment.
Except we all live in the same country and have the same educational system. 50% of blacks not finishing school, 70% of black fathers not being present and 12% of the population committing 52% of the murders isn't caused by actions 200 years ago. It's because blacks are raised in this country to be perpetual victims and never take ownership of their actions. We have a shared existence.
You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than you do being shot by a cop. Over 5k blacks are shot by other blacks each year. Yet none of that is part of the discussion. Just a few gang bangers who decided to fight police and got shot for it being made out to be martyrs by those who statistically don't know their father or by those who want to keep the blacks in place to keep their votes and rage.

I don't know anything about the murderer, but I know Al Qaeda operatives are "allowed" to party to disguise themselves among westerners. This guy may be another loon like the Orlando shooter looking for attention. Only time will tell.

I wasn't there, so short of the police admitting this, I can't say with any certainty if it's true. But if it's not, it's all that more troubling. An "Arab" man sitting in a truck, where they're not allowed, and no officer said anything? If someone can camp outside a major event on the biggest French holiday and no security forces question them, that does not bode well for France.

I live in a nicer neighborhood. Houses are 150K+, not super huge, but big enough and expensive enough to keep the impoverished out. It is predominately African-American. It is interesting to be the minority, I'll say that. We smile and wave at people and get largely ignored. It's an interesting dynamic to say the least. Being poor isn't the issue...the same stuff (including drive bys) happens here. It's a cultural thing. You can't blame it on being poor.
That's racist. I mean, yes, when you look at cities with a similar poverty rate, yet different demographic makeup, you see reduced crime compared to blacks. Yes, the most violent cities in America are also overwhelmingly black (Camden, NJ anyone?). But because someone's great, great, great grandfather was a slave, that means they have to be violent. Because Jim Crow ended in 1965 and limited to only the deep south, where most Blacks don't live, modern Blacks in the north suffer some intangible blight that forces a 50% high school graduation rate, 70% out of wedlock birth rate and a crime participation rate many times higher than any demographic. What I'm trying to say is, black people aren't responsible for their individual or collective behavior in America, and you pointing out their personal actions is racist.

I will need to look into it, I didn't see anything about this so far.

Terrorist attacks for who? Excuse me if I don't get as upset when Arabs blow up other Arabs for not agreeing on who succeeded Mohammed.
These attacks jumped up in the west following the 2011 American withdraw from Iraq. The west can't stop Arabs from beheading anyone in their countries they dislike. They have an obligation to their citizens however to keep bad people out of their countries and prevent such attacks. And the DNC just removed the requirement to speak English to become a citizen. Really smart people at work behind the scenes. Keep following Merkel.
Spending trillions of dollars, thousands of lives of American soldiers, with little to show for it...yes, I care when innocent people are murdered, no matter who they are.
I'm not defending the war in Iraq, but I'm also interested in being honest and calling out what it really did rather than what looks good on a meme. I'm also being honest and admitting what everyone else secretly agrees on, and that is I care more for my family and countrymen than I do some foreigner who comes from a completely different culture and has no interests in embracing western values. Multiculturalism is a crock of shit. Not all cultures and beliefs are equal. Japanese culture is different and it's cool to experience, but it's not fundamentally at odds with western values. No one says 18th and 19th century slavery in the west was a good idea, so why is it okay in the 21st century if you live in the Middle East.
The west didn't kill millions of innocent arabs. In every bombing raid we gave the civilian populace ample warning or made direct strikes on known jihadist targets. Yes, some innocent life was lost, but that's the cost of every military action on this scale. Had the jihadist and their sympathizers not enabled and continued a hostile environment, civilians wouldn't have been harmed. I can't speak to the terrorist acts jihadist commit against their own people.
I'd much rather prefer a ground war around Babylon that forces them to face soldiers than continue to bury our collective heads in the sand while they infiltrate the west and bring their 6th century mindset with them.

Yeah, it is hard.
The area was supposed to be locked and pedestrian only due to fireworks (it was bank holidays, French national day). But this guy somehow got in.He may have had some help.
I read it was 80 km/h.
I read that the police stopped and asked him why he was in the area, and he told them he was delivering ice cream, so they let him go.

He may have had some help.
