#371 Re: Guns N' Roses » Volume 2 - What if... » 680 weeks ago

There have been plenty of rumors about it through the years.

Obviously Weiland said the pens were ready to sign.  I also remember when things went shit with VR at one point and there were reports that Slash moved all his gear out of the studio etc.

I also recall murmurs that there was agreement on a reunion of sorts at one point but when the paperwork was finally done Axl had slipped in an additional clause where the they would have signed away all remaining rights to the back catalogue (or something to that effect).

Remember also when Madison (plus some others) had hinted that Slash could be at the Hammerstein shows in2006? I think this was also around the time of Slash supposedly moving his gear. She was hammered for that, but I always thought she wouldn't have said that if there wasn't some basis to it.  I mean hell she got hammered for the Slash t-shirt thing too and that turned out to be true, people were being told to take them off sometimes.

Nothing surprises me with this band anymore, including the possibility of Axl trying to construct some fucked up (for everyone else) reunion on crazy terms.

Thanks for refreshing my memory of the timeline. Given that, I'd say Iovine/Azoff with Azoff being the puppeteer. So the next question becomes why, right?

If it were those two, I'd say it clears the deck: it rips the band aid off and forces everything forward. It removes the fear of public reaction, and ultimately, given what we know of Azoff, might even pave the way for a reunion by sabotaging CD.

Exactly this, get it out of the way, try and make it commercially fail, apply financial pressure too if possible and force Axl into a reunion.

I would suggest he pretty much achieved all of that but fell short with the final piece of the puzzle - Axl wouldn't budge on the reunion.

Ahh that makes sense then if its for the screens at the gigs.

That looks pretty cool. Would be interesting to watch in 3D.  I did find it a bit hard to watch tho with it continually flicking images every second or so.

Curious as to why they would spend money on a vid for a song they released over 20 years ago?

Here is a custom pin that Hetfield had done for himself (one of a kind).  The guy that did the artwork on this custom one- Dirty Donny, has also done the artwork for this new one.  It looks great and about time Stern got some decent artwork instead of their crap quality photoshop style shit they have put on recent pins.

Yeah, looks great. I bet it will cost a shitload of $$$ though...

Yeah they are not going to be cheap.  These were the US prices for the ACDC pins, they are a relatively similar cost here in Oz:

Pro: $5699
Premium: $7699
Back in Black Limited Edition: $8499, limited to 300 machines
Let There Be Rock Limited Edition: $8499, limited to 200 machines

You can expect the Metallica to be the same or slightly more.

Personally I think those prices are too much.  Pinball these days is bigger for private collectors than operators, but at those prices it does limit their market.  If the base model was around $4,000 or just a bit above I think they would sell a lot more.  Stern might make a similar profit by having higher sales volume.

Either way I will eventually hope to pick one up at some point second hand.  Only problem is I want the ACDC and Metaliica pin now.  Also with the ACDC I want the premium version as it has a lower playfield in it that the Pro doesn't have (plus a few other minor things).  It looks heaps better than the Angus artwork in the middle of the playfield of the Pro version.

Just watched those vids too, amazing how keeping your people so insular and controlled that they have no choice but to accept the propoganda they have been fed since birth. They have no other information about the outside world to base any sort of informed opinion on. Im sure if they went to war the people would have no idea how stupid and suicidal that decision would be for them

Watching their army, the salute and goose step they use looks horribly similar to that used by another crazy leader in the past...
