It didn’t really work out well for any of them except jarmo but it killed his forum

All the others(Eric, Madison, and BP) got were backstage passes and getting to email with Merck and Fernando.

I cared less than nothing about those "perks".

This community's soul was not for sale...and IF it was for sale....it would've required a 5 gallon bucket of Oxy and CD II to buy it.

Edit

We also got punished during the Axl chats.

He signed up at all 4 main forums..but this was the only one he didn't post at.

It was sending a message.

Message received.

Nope...still didn't give a fuck.

2nd edit

They did acknowledge us by linking the full chat transcripts we had posted here on the official site...that was pretty cool.

I hope he at least respected our stance...the young Axl would have.

You’re right that the young Axl from age 15-25 would appreciate your stance on refusing to kiss butts for special perks, refusing to censor the dialogue on this forum. Axl turned into a different guy when Appetite became so successful. He’s had “yes” people surrounding him since the summer of 1988.

So Brain is the primary songwriter on The General? That’s interesting. You don’t typically see drummers with that kind of songwriting impact.

Listening to some of the old leaks right now. I hope they eventually release "Going Down" as a single. If they don't want to use Tommy's vocals, they could put Duff on there...obviously with Axl's backing vocals layered in there. Give Tommy a really nice royalty percentage for his songwriting.

It's just crazy to pump that much money into promoting one song. That would be unprecedented but if any band has that going for it...it's GNR.

That Times Square promo is an eye opener. That's like Taylor Swift-Beyonce shit.

Maybe the last two releases flopping hurt some egos? Maybe they finally decided to do a thing right? Ticket sales aren't what they once were.

But getting the corporation to spend money on this type of marketing is pretty surprising. I guess the company believes there is enough public interest to justify this spending. That’s a surprise given that it’s an old geezer band.

It’s no.3 on main UK itunes chart at the minute, which is pretty impressive.

That’s awesome!

The song is now up to #9 on the iTunes chart. Oliver Anthony currently has 4 of the Top 8 songs. Take out of 3 of those songs, and GN'R would be sitting at #6 right now. Pretty damn good.

Played around on the YouTube app with my Roku device. On the home page of YouTube app, they have  a "Trending" section. Scroll through it and you find "Perhaps" in there. Didn't have to scroll very far to find it. Nice!

I purchased the full quality FLAC (24-bit/48kHz) from 7Digital, but I've been checking the song's performance on iTunes. It's up to #10 on the overall iTunes chart.

One weird thing I noticed is that the iTunes "preview" button does not seem to work for this song. It's not just a problem with this song, it seems to be a problem for a lot of songs on the charts. I don't remember this being a problem with iTunes in the past. Apple has managed to screw up a product that worked just fine in earlier versions. Constant updates on the iTunes software for no reason.

You guys could be totally right. He’s added new vocal parts to TWAT, The Blues, CD, Riad on old vocals before CD’s release, so he’s done it before. I’m just not used to the vocals sounding this good 16

I just wish the songs could be mixed properly.

I want to enjoy listening to The General on 11...not be forced to lower it to 3 so my ears don't bleed.

Funny thing is Chinese Democracy avoided the "loudness" trend of the 2000's. Supposedly Axl was given a choice between an older mixing style and the louder version. He chose the old school approach. Given all the dumb shit he did in the studio on that album, it's hilarious that he still had good taste for proper sound quality.

Sudden shifts are the band’s strength, similar to what McCartney does (think of “Band on the Run,” the reggae break on “Live and Let Die,” or side two of “Abbey Road.”

The finales of “Sweet Child,” “November Rain, and even “Paradise City” are not hinted at earlier in the arrangements but they all work brilliantly. Jamming unexpectedly complimentary ideas together is absolute genius.

Rocket Queen might be the GOAT in this department. Pretty incredible shift in the final 2-3 minutes of that song.
