Although I didn't agree with Bono on TWAT, since it's one of the few songs on that album I still listen sometimes, I was surprised that after his (civil) comment a bash-fest started. In the end he was the only one who got a warning. Strange.

Why?
The Axl camp did its job again? I just can't imagine Slash cutting the set GN'R-less by his own choice. They all should accept that the others were there, they wrote the songs together and let the others use whatever they want
I also don't het how he can release the Guitar Center GN'R songs, but cannot the New York show's.

I am quite certain he hasn't sold 250,000 worldwide. He makes his cash off touring now....just like everybody else except for the big pop stars like Taylor Swift, etc. Radio Chart positions don't mean shit unless they are backed by single sales on ITUNES, Amazon, etc.
I did hear Slash's recent single on the radio a few days ago...the one with the Locomotive type riff. It sounded so much better than all the other modern rock crap (the instrumental that is). Myles kind of irritates me after awhile but the guitars just kick ass.
Quite possible. A lot of sites hail it as a contender for the album of the year, yet only a few people bought it. Downloading motherfuckers are one thing, but sometimes I think that people (rock fans mostly) aren't really interested in new music anymore. They have their old AC/DC, Zeppelin, Floyd, GN'R etc. stuff and it's enough for them for the rest of their lives.

Funny how "success" changed over the years. Two number 1 rock singles used to mean millions of albums sold. Now, I don't think Slash would have sold more than 100,000 copies in the US and more than 500,000 worldwide (probably it's close to its half!), although much more people saw him live on the current tour.

I love saint is a sinner. Melodic and haunting
Seconded.

I don't consider neither BD's not Gotten's "solo" a solo. The Fergie one is just jerking off a bit on the guitar with no ration, while the second was less than a minimalistic approach. I hate that. Gotten is an amazing song and would have deserved a fabulous Slash solo.

Yeah, Far and Away is another great choice, something you wouldn't expect from him.
I find AL's solos more constructed and I hear less cliches there. Some songs, like Beautiful Dangerous or Gotten doesn't even have a solo, and Promise almost killed me with that note by note rip-off of Snakepit's Back and Forth Again

There are so many..... Not saying its the "best", but that solo to By the Sword has so much sex and passion in it. No shredding at all, pure class and taste. For a Shreddy solo Anastasia I guess.
Ghost
Nothing to Say
Watch This
Halo
Anastasia
By the Sword
Dr. Alibi
Starlight (very good but almost gets too Shreddy)
Back from Cali (pure taste, could have used one fast lick)
Great topic!
Although you seem to prefer Slash I's solos, I think he's doing a much better job on AL. By The Sword is pure genius, very fine playing, not too many notes, but the feel and melody is all over the place. That's why he's my favourite 6-stringer. I also dig the hell out of Watch This N' Starlight, while Nothing to Fear was a huge step into a new direction in Slash's career. I'd also mention the bonus(?) track Mother Maria, which is maybe even better that By The Sword.
However Anastacia is an all time great, without a doubt. I love No More Heroes' solo, at a point it sounds very chromatic. Not for Me is simple, but very Lies/Dust N' Bones-type slashy. I also like the solo of Halo, Standing in the Sun, Shots Fired, Carolina and Crazy Life a lot. Such a badass guitar album! My only complaint solo wise would be the title track and We Will Roam, which is basically Civil War II.

Yeah, cancelling the movie in the last minute is GN'R business as usual. I totally understand how frustrating it can be for those who bought tickets or wanted to buy.
But. Although I'm not a fan of the Malibu Mafia, they've done better job so far as the management than anyone before, sans Azoff. I have theories, similar to Monkey's, why they managed to do better, but I rather focus on the outcome: things were better in the last months.
