Polluxlm, I'm very interested in this CFR you reference. I've heard others on the internet reference it as well. If you have a link that outlines what it is believed to be, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry Axlin08, Obama is just another cookie-cutter candidate. Nothing special about him at all. People loved Hitler and Stalin too, doesn't mean popularity accounts for taste.
I just hope that when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are a success and long over, historians realize it was the leadership of Bush and General Petraeus that made that possible. Then again, academica have a liberal bias and will probably give the guy who voted against funding and the surge credit.

They only need 30$ an hour because they live extremely beyond their means. Someone working a McJob hasn't earned the ability to own a nice home, car and other commodities. That's the root problem. Americans have this work ethic that they are entitled to a middle class quality of life even if they don't work to earn that status. Unskilled labor should always be paid to the lowest bidder as anyone can do that job.
You don't have to goto college in order to gain a skill; hell I'd argue that you don't gain a skill from most college programs. The reality is that if some immigrant who doesn't even speak English is able to do your job as well as or better than you, you're a failure.

We wouldn't have to send jobs overseas if Americans didn't favor bullshit unions and wages and benefits for work that isn't worthy of such pay. When Mexicans are willing to do 2$ an hour work for something an American would expect 30$, that tells you something. I'm not saying that Americans expectations are that grossly unblanced, but the answer is somewhere in the middle. With people believing they are entitled to numerous sick and vaction days as well as a generous wage, it's no wonder companies seek employment in areas that have a more realistic expectation.

PaSnow, I believe Cheney's wife's name is Lynn. I didn't use google in the spirit of your question, but I believe that is right.

James, come on. There is no way Obama is going to introduce those clowns into his administration. What credentials does Oprah have outside of being a talk show personality. Putting Oprah in any government position would be infinitely more naieve and dangerous than running Palin as a VP.
Obama's going to surround himself with a bunch of liberals and a token republican in name only. God forbid he get to appoint anyone to the supreme court, cause we'll have more morons like Ginsburg on the court who could give a shit about the constitution.

I pray that no harm comes to him or anyone else, but if the country goes down the toilet, I can easily see that happening.

I want to add something to my previous post. If America is truly on the downward spiral, Obama will go down in history as the person responsible for it. I'm not saying that is fair or would be an accurate portrayl, but History will view him as the man who ran on a campaign of hope and change that would restore America's greatness. If Obama fails to turn the tide and we collapse, no one can intelligently say that Obama wasn't in at least some aspect responsible.
This brings me up to my next point. I was discussing with someone the other day of where America will be in 20 years. He expressed his opinion that America is headed towards a fascist state, ala the Nazis. Now it's no secret that racist undertones exist on all sides in America. Albeit much less pronounced than it was 50 years ago, but it still lurks beneath the surface. If the masses view a Black Man as the downfall of their once great country (which could be spun a number of ways) I could certainly see the masses turning towards a leader who much like Obama, offers to solve all their solutions, but also appealing to the most obvious and prominent connection between groups - skin color or ethnicity.
Yes, I find it completely plausible that should we experience a complete economic collapse compacted with fear of outside attack lured in by our weakened status, the majority of Americans would turn to a Hitler like character willing to provide them with security and stability if only they let him rule.

It's no secret who I want to be President and how bad I think Obama will be for America's long term future. But after looking at the latest polls from sources I consider to be reputable, it's going to be a blow out for Obama. Florida has done almost a 180 swing for Obama. Virginia is very strong for Obama now, and meanwhile McCain holds a 1% lead in Ohio according to the polls I go off of. By next week, Obama will be several points ahead in Ohio too. It's shaping up to be around 370 electoral votes for Obama, far better than the "mandate" Bush had in '04.
Hopefully I'm dead wrong about Obama and he's not really a marxist. And hopefully the American people are intelligent enough to realize there is no such thing as a free lunch and won't be swayed by dillusions of grandeur. But I sadly think this period is highlighting the downfall of what was once the world's greatest country ever.
I might just stay in Iraq Rambo II style.
