Lzzy has talent and pipes, there's no disputing that. And from that list, she got my vote (definitely over Myles)
#442 Re: The Sunset Strip » Anyone here good at making "Mash Ups"? » 736 weeks ago
Making mash-ups from full songs is very difficult and will almost never sound right. If you could get the moggs or (even better) actual multi-tracks for this the situation would be a lot better, but I don't think Cecilia is the kinda song that would end up on a Guitar Hero or Rock Band release
.
As for the basic process: first you make sure that both songs follow the same tempo and root key (pitch), which shouldn't be too difficult in Audacity. Then, you usually pick a few measures of the basic rhythm track (why you need multi-tracks) and build your mash-up's song structure out of that. Where the verses are, where the chorusses (chori?) are, etc... then you overlay the vocal melody and the instruments of the songs to your liking over that structure et voila! A mash-up.
It's probably doable if you can get at least the vocal track for one of the two separate from the rest of the music, but for best result you need multi-tracks for both.

Sounds like someone forgot to kick in their distortion pedal...

Yeah, there's quite the discrepancy in how things are viewed in the old and new worlds when it comes to sex with minors...
. Over here she can officially/legally consent as long as she's at least 16 years old (or, in some countries 14 and the age difference is less than 6 years). In my mind, if she didn't come across as immature or mentally too young in the two nights you spent with her, she was probably well aware of what she was getting in to and she was "fair game" so to speak. If she hadn't asked, you would've gone ahead with it. You gotta ask: why did knowing her birth date make that much difference?
But I get it, I'm 32 and I can't even relate to girls younger than 22 anymore. I can't imagine myself fucking anyone that young either. That said, living in a society where we have sayings like "If there's grass on the pitch, the game is on" and "Old enough to smoke? Old enough to fuck!" does kinda make you a bit more open to the idea than if you were living in a community where you have registered sex-offenders that did nothing more than touch a 16 year old girls' boobs when he was 21 years old.

By the way, if you like I'm more than willing to take a stab at mixing one of your songs for you; sound like a nice side-project!

I love prominent drums as well, check out Motley Crue's Saints of Los Angeles for a good example. I also like a lot of "fake" drums, most hard rock/metal albums these days use triggered samples for at least part of their sound. I love the Steven Slate samples for example; they can definitely be pushed up loud without getting in the way of the music. That Sixx:AM song though, dunno... the snare sound very thin and harsh and the rest of the shells sound dull to me. But hey, who am I... they might actually _like_ that sound
.

The mix in that Sixx:AM example actually sounds awful to my ears. Especially the drums are horrid, and that typically _is_ the mix engineer's fault, although the recording engineer might have something to do with it as well (doubt it in this case though).
The AIC example sounds VERY good, conveying the band's typically dark sound and still sounding fresh and "'bright" enough... If you're looking at examples within the GNR/Slash realm, I've used IFOCS as a reference for mastering in the past as I really love the production on that album.
But I would suggest looking for very modern reference materials. As "classic" as your music might be, a modern production will make it sound more fresh. AFD was great for it's time, but if you make a heavy rock album produced like that today it's gonna fall flat on it's face.
Suggestions: Halestorm - I Get Off (but not their covers album), Maylene & the sons of Disaster - Step Up (I'm On It), Foo Fighters - White Limo & (best production evar!) Tool - The Pot.

Megadeth and GNR at the same show would be awesome overload for me!
It's getting better, they just added BLS and Slash to the list as well (probably because they had to replace Black Sabbath with Ozzy & Friends, of which both Zakk & Slash are part). The only thing that bothers me is Limp Bizkit headlining on Saturday...
But yeah: Axl, Slash, Dave Mustain, Ozzy, Zakk, Sebastian Bach and Lemmy all on the same bill. And then there's Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Twisted Sister, Pennywise, Sick of it All, ...
