Right... fingerprinting... and of course DNA testing, eyewitnesses, and that damn bank surveillance camera 22

You're the one with the cop dad, right? 18

As we can see the interest for Guns N' Roses is at it's lowest since early 2004, but CD on the other hand is up (although on a decreasing trajectory at the moment). This is probably due to people hearing actual music from the album and liking it.

On the other hand, google activity is probably up big time in the same period, so the actual numbers could in fact be way lower.

Too bad these don't go back to 00/01.

Saturn comes back around
to show you everything
Lets you choose what you will
not see and then
Drags you down like a stone
or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.

Tool - The Grudge

In astrology Saturn is the planet of spiritual death. In it's circuit it will affects humans to make a change in their life, or drag them further down on a destructive path.

I do believe this is true in a sense. Pluto is my planet (scorpio), the planet of psychology and enlightenment, and I swear I have felt the effects of that this, especially this month. I've felt a fuzz of happiness/energy. I think clearer and in broader terms.

Of course, I also think you have to believe in it to really sense it. It's not like a drug.

So I find these news very interesting indeed.

I'm excited to see how all of this pans out in the next few years.

The more I research this, the more I know how little I know. The mechanisms of the world are hard to grasp indeed. So many facets, so many lies, so many motives, so many factors.

I wonder if I'll ever get to the point where I can just read a news article and think to myself "aha, of course. devious bastards" and just see the big picture completely.

With my current rate, yeah, I probably will 16

James answered the original question for me (thanks James).

I don't think anybody is saying there's something wrong with what they are doing by copying other trends.  Very few artists are truely groundbreaking.  I think the problem is copying trends when they are already a little aged, then waiting 10 more years to think about releasing them.

True, you can't accuse Axl of rushing things 16

How and when is really of no consequence to me. It sounds good and it feels good. Last thing I wanted was an attempt to recreate something old.

As for the old band copying Aerosmith and the Stones, of course they did to some extent.  The difference is that when they played, you knew it was them playing even without Axl's voice.  They combined those styles and made it their own.  I don't hear any style of their own with the new band, especially without BH.  I hear a bunch of different styles thrown together for the sake of throwing them together.  That's fine, but it isn't groundbreaking.  There's no direction, nothing to build a foundation of their own off of.  Even with the bloated songs of UYI, you still have DTJ, Locomotive, YCBM, etc that let you know this was still the same band and tied it all together.

As far as having a foundation or identity I'd say the bets haven't been called yet. Yes, there are a lot of styles present in the new songs, and each song follows a different formula. This tends to sound contrived and patched, but I don't think so in this case. I also have to mention that the man is in his 40s. Surely some of his ways will be set, but when comparing him to other musicians at that stage in their career I'd say Axl fares pretty well.

Christ, this man is a genius.

Last night I was talking to DTJ. Mainly about the BBF footage she uploaded, but as usual, I steered the conversation towards BH.:butt: We were talking about Rio 01, and after our convo was over, I put that DVD in and watched Madagascar.

He takes that song to a place no one else is even capable of going.

Amen. He's the best soloist in the world. Nobody can match him when he nails it. BH is the definition of getting the guitar to weep (sorry Clapton).

The fact that he's the only guitar virtuoso I can stand says a lot.

6 days till I leave work. First thing I'm gonna do is put on "earth heals itself" and just sit back with a joint. (ok, I'll make the joint first).

A baz album at display in my collection? Sorry, that's not gonna happen.

I got the songs I need.

so you're jus gonna keep the ones you want for free?

baz funded this album out of his pocket.   sorry i just hate seeing people pirating shit because it takes money out of my own pocket everyday.

It's not about the money, it's about principle. I don't support shitty music.

Now you might say "why did you dl it then?"

Well, I am a die hard Axl fan so I just had to hear it. Wasn't too impressed with the non-Axl work, but always nice to hear his voice. So does that make me a thief? Yes, but it is a special situation, and that's pretty much all I can say about it. I spend like 30% of my paycheck on music and films, so I can't really say it gets to me.

But I understand and agree with your point completely, I guess I just chose to be an egocentric asshole this time. Nobody's perfect.
