It was either abandoned in that 99-00 period due to the negative reactions to both OMG and Silkworms or possibly still around with one of the updated song titles. They sure loved changing song titles all the time... probably out of boredom.

I don't really like it. Glad it finally came out though.

Seems they wanted it to be a secret track on the vinyl, but found they couldn't fit it on without compromising the quality.

Didn't want to compromise the quality?  The quality was terrible!

I guess it could've been worse!

Where did it leak?

The original Monsters and The General leaked here.

Bat poop crazy week....

Chiefs officially knocked out of the playoffs...and the cherry on top of their shit sundae is Mahomes going down for a year with a torn ACL.

Throw me in with the group who believes we're witnessing the end of an era....Chiefs dynasty is over. The only question is which team is going to step into the breech and replace them on the pedestal.

AFC is now wide open.

Bengals knocked out of playoff contention.... showing how weak this division is right now. They shouldn't have been in contention at this point.

If the Ravens are going to go on a run....the time is NOW.

The Patriots faced a major test....and lost. Quickly taking a 21-0 lead and then falling apart is not a good sign heading towards the playoffs. They still have a shot at the division and #1 seed....can't lose any more.

Broncos continue to look impressive while pretty much being ignored by everyone. They're reminding me of the 98 Falcons.

First team to clinch a playoff spot in the AFC.

Chargers continue to win but not a lot of consistency.  They could go into the playoffs winning a wild card in a blowout....or lose 30-3.

The Philip Rivers saga would be so much more interesting if Indiana Jones had went down a month ago when Colts were #1. It would've allowed Rivers a few losses to get his 'sea legs'. Instead he's in a situation that allows few mistakes and requires the Jaguars and Texans to go on losing streaks.

He played ok under the circumstances but holy shit.... he's slow as molasses and clearly can't throw deep or accurately. It was 99% screen passes.

Rams first team to clinch a playoff spot in the NFC.

Another massive blow....Micah Parsons out for a year with a torn ACL. Huge implications for the playoffs....many expected a deep run into the playoffs....maybe SB. The Bears are now in the driver's seat in that division.

Lions now highly unlikely to make the playoffs. Only chance is if Green Bay collapses after the Micah injury and Lions win the last 3....the final game against Chicago.

The Bucs are in full blown collapse mode. One of the top NFC teams the first half of the season and one of the worst in the second. Their only prayer is for the Panthers to keep losing.

Neither team deserves to go to the playoffs....but will get in by default. I say it every year but the NFL needs to update the playoffs structure.....allow the top teams in.... regardless of division.

They should've fixed this decades ago.

Cowboys pretty much out of the playoffs. They showed some promise earlier this season but did what the Cowboys usually do. Eagles just need one win to take the division.

The playoff bracket if the season ended today....

Some killer matchups there.

The amount of hate online celebrating this, cause someone Trump didn't like died is pretty appalling.

This is just how the US is now. The West has amused itself to death and is now wallowing in a big tech dystopic Idiocracy fueled by social media and a hyper partisan culture war.....which is really a distraction for the billionaires to plunder and loot all the resources while the unwashed masses...or parasites as Musk and Thiel call them ...cheer on their own imminent demise.

Yes it's disgusting for Trump to go down such a path ...but the other side does the exact same thing all the time.

In the US....any time there is a mass shooting, both sides have to wait until they know who the shooter voted for before weighing in on the tragedy. They can't risk saying something bad about someone from their own team...even if that person just shot a room full of children.

If God forbid one side prematurely goes  and comments negatively towards a mass shooter and then they find out he/she was on their team, massive amounts of posts immediately get removed....simply memory holed.

It's disgusting. Other than the main news when such massacres occur, I no longer read/watch any of the coverage. Doing so just reminds you of how broken our society is now and IMO.... it's beyond repair.

That brings back memories. That 95 team was one catch away from being the greatest Cinderella team in league history. Their ascent was so unlikely...but it happened. I didn't like the Colts or Harbaugh but I was glued to the TV.

I wish it had happened. Colts vs Cowboys would've been much better than what we got. That Cowboys team was just begging to be upset.

God I miss the real NFL.

This past off-season I watched a hefty portion of the 1998-99 season. God that Jets team was killer. Everyone looks back on that season and dream of the Vikings making the Superbowl. That Jets team was just as deserving.

They just couldn't stop that Broncos machine.

The slide has begun. Nothin’ is #7 now & Atlas 10. They peaked at 3 & 5. Still solid, but there’s always momentum when they release these songs & they do nothing with it.

The pop, and subsequent slide are predictable. New songs targeted to an artist with a base of x-millions of subscribers will create a huge initial imprint. Everyone listens to the song when they get the notification on their phone, then moves on with their lives.

Just like the other drip feeds, they can't even get a hefty portion of their own subscribers to click on their videos.

GNR have 13.1 million YouTube subscribers

Atlas: 649k views

Nothin' 827k views

About 10-15 of those views are me. yikes

They are an anomaly. Most major acts get more views than subscribers.

While it's nice to get 1-2 songs every other blue moon, this approach doesn't work on any level. For various reasons, it's impossible to get any traction under these circumstances. It would require a highly unlikely incident where one of the songs go viral.

The band doesn't comment no matter what and the fan base tires of the new song(s) within days. With a non interested general public, where can the songs realistically go but down?

They're already disappearing from the Spotify charts.

#47 Re: The Garden » NFL 2025 » 9 weeks ago

Crazy week....

The Colts are collapsing...and the death blow happened today. 'Indiana' Jones out for the year.  Their rookie 3rd stringer is now their starter . Colts went from the #1 seed a couple weeks ago to #7 and sinking like a lead balloon.

Jayden Daniels injured AGAIN. Unbelievable. He shouldn't have even come back. Their season is over. He should've been put on IR for the year weeks ago.

Bears fail their first big test. Went from #1 to #7.

The collapse of the Ravens continues full speed ahead.

Bills-Bengals game was crazy. Burrow handed them the win. Bills should be in deep shit right now. Next week's game against the Pats is HUGE.

Dolphins staying alive somehow. It really shows how weak the league is when teams like this have a shot at the playoffs.

Rams back in the driver's seat.

Seahawks killed the Falcons. Their coming showdown with the Rams should be epic.

Bucs lose.... opening the door for Carolina.

Texans are getting red hot at the perfect time.

I'm so sick of the Chiefs. Their "dynasty" needs to end. Anytime someone gets within 5 yards of Mahomes, he's looking at the refs begging for a flag. Same with Kelce.  It's pathetic. The league never should've started coddling their golden boy QBs. I guess they had to...in the parity era, gotta make sure there's one consistent team in a sea of shit.

Andy Reid... pretty much the Marty Schottenheimer of the NFC in the 90s and 00s is now considered worthy of the Mount Rushmore of head coaches. What a world. I said it years ago....one of the iconic coaches still alive should've attempted a comeback 10 years ago.

It's not a coincidence that the two 21st century dynasties were led by the last two 20th century head coaches.

Who becomes the next dynasty? Patriots? Texans? The Jets in a few years with their stack of 1st and 2nd round picks? Can Belichick make it back to the NFL and get hired by the right team? Or is the league in such pantywaist shambles that there will be no more dynasties but instead just a series of one year wonders?

I don't get why Axl feels so close to these people. They have always struck me as very low class. He keeps coming under the spell of questionable characters, it's very strange. Madly in love with Stephanie Seymor, a complete user and a nutcase, spent hundreds of thousands if not millions on that whole Yoda medium scam and now delegating his business affairs to complete incompetents.

How can a world famous rock star be so naive?

Slash & Duff are probably cringing on a daily basis, but they want that money to keep coming in. Old enough to not give a fuck about anything else.

Yeah the Yoda stuff showed how susceptible he was to all sorts of shenanigans. He could've just as easily fell into a cult.

If the internet had existed in the 60s/70s, Beach Boys fans would've been asking this same question.

Down By The Ocean was written by Izzy in 1995 (among other songs). But, according to Izzy, Axl contacted him some time in 2000 (or maybe early 2001) and asked him for the tapes. It's not clear if that means that Axl hadn't kept the songs at all or he was asking for the masters.

Regardless, since that song was written by Izzy, it's almost safe to assume that it would have been a full fledged song since 1995 or at least not a sketch in the form of Nothing that we heard in the locker leaks, unless Axl used just small elements of it (but that doesn't seem very likely).

Izzy was writing with Duff.
Per Chinese Whispers
"In April, 1995, Duff calls me again: 'I'm trying to compose new songs for the guys in GN'R. Come and give me a hand.' It made five [years] that I'd left Guns but I said myself: 'Well shit, after all, why not?' Duff and I wrote ten songs in the space of week. We even recorded them as demos." (French Izzy interview, 2001)
Which means Duff has the dat tapes too.

In 2000 Axl was talking to Izzy and not Duff whose now back in gnr.

We have no idea the level of completion of any of the Izzy and Duff songs.
Is anything i written above not factually correct ?

In an alternate timeline there's a really interesting GNR album released in 1996.

I guess it was just too early, Nothin’ is now #1 on the iTunes Rock chart & Atlas is #2. They’re all the way up to #5 & 6 on the overall chart. Initial buzz is there, but it won’t last when they do nothing with it.

Based on what ?

Have you heard Down By The Ocean ?

Odd story

When I was doing my website years ago, people thought I was a trader, which I wasn't. I heard 10-15 seconds of that song from someone who thought I had other songs, which I didn't.

I don't remember much, but I think I'd know it if I heard it

Yeah this is how it happened back then. A select group of people on the forums were sent different clips....some got CITR (me included), some Atlas, some Hard School (Razz the famous receiver of this clip), and I think Silkworms. You and a few others must have got that one.

The 9 second CITR clip leaking out in the open is the only reason the full song leaked a few weeks later.

It was 18-19 years ago. It was validated officially by someone. I just followed advice back then and left it alone

Probably a smart move. TPTB didn't want anything else leaking out....it's why they went after Razz over the "Checkmate" clip.

The fan. base came really close to a huge leak happening.

It should've happened.

When listening the first time, I was shocked they kept that Casio keyboard sound. Sweet baby Jesus.

Other than that, it's pretty good. Slash must have really liked it because he brought his A game to the solo.

Like all the other songs, it sounds like an unfinished song that was simply polished and released.

The post reunion years have revealed the true meaning of the A and B lists....

A list - Actual finished songs going on Chinese Democracy

B list - All the half finished songs, instrumentals, and fragments

Back in the prime years of the CD saga, fans assumed the A list was all the massive epics and the B list all the rockers.

The only thing improved in this updated version is the awkward transitions/cut and paste hell are not nearly as noticeable. They pulled a rabbit out of a hat in that regard. While I loved the original version, I didn't think they could fix that.

Everything else is a downgrade. I like Duff's bass but it's mixed a tad too high, Axl mixed a bit too low, and all the music together is just one big blah and everything kinda cancels each other out. Slashs solo sounds like he listened to the original solo and devoted one take to replicating it, and then moved on.

It also made me realize that the song simply goes nowhere. It wants to be some sort of epic but it just can't. Like mentioned above, it really needs a killer bridge and a GNR epic outro to take it to the heights it wants to go.

I'd like to hear that alternate take but let's be honest, it's probably identical with one instrument higher in the mix.

This was not a band doing legit alternate versions of songs.

Yeah....the mix is terrible.

Amazing how they refuse to bring in a professional to improve all these songs.
