what in your opinion is the hold up in releasing the new album then?
You know, who's saying there IS a hold up to begin with?
Maybe Axl thought late last year that: "Well, 2011 is gonna be all about lawsuits, with the Azoff-thing and the Activision-thing. We might be able to play a few shows in South America. Those countries are sure things! After that, in 2012/2013 we could maybe start planing some NA-shows and maybe release the next album(s)"
So maybe, just maybe, according to Axl, things are right on schedule! Or hey! Maybe even ahead of schedule!!!

what did axl mean exactly when he said CD wasthe album that was able to be pushed thru 'the red tape'? is there a host of legal hurdles in the way before they can release new material?
From what I understand from the few "interviews" he has done since the launch of CD, it seems that the label have a rather large say in what kind of album GNR will release. I mean, seems like GNR can hand over an album, but the label can say: "Nah, I don't think this is the right album at the right time" or "the sound and feel of the recording is not good enough, lets try a different producer" or whatever... u know what I mean?

Saw this on twitter. Nothing definitive, obviously, but going along with the theory that a US tour is at least being considered/worked on.

Possible U.S. dates?: Heard this the other day on WCCC in Connecticut. http://bit.ly/kcDmN9 #GunsNRosesThe discussion is kind of lengthy, the GNR part comes about 3/4 of the way through. Basically the concert promoter says he does believe GNR will play somewhere in Connecticut by the end of the year. And they discuss playing either the Mohegan Sun Arena, which seats around 10,000 or the Comcast Theater which seats around 6,000.
Didn't listen to it, but going by your post, that's a good sign right?
I mean, often the first hints of an upcoming tour leaks out from promoters "running their mouths"...
Hope it happens for you guys in the US (well, for those of you actually wanting to see it happen), it's well overdue!

I've come to the conclusion that there are two major reason for "trolling" boards with this "it's-not-real-guns-it's-the-Axl-Rose-Solo-project-and-the-new-era-sucks" -mentality.
It's either from a place of passion. You know, the music from way back when hit you really hard at a time when some people really get into music and stick with it for life!
Or they have other personal issues that are depressing to deal with and are just angry a lot of the time. Both reasons are understandable.And Ali is right, there ARE less of those people here. You can prolly count them one one hand. Which is why this is my prefered board to post on. But boy, do they stand out!
It's not trolling. It's simply a difference of opinion.
If you absolutely have to mention that the current GNR isn't GNR three or more times during a couple of pages in a thread, to me that's trollish.
Or if you keep repeating that there is only one or no good song on CD several times in one day, to me that's trollish behavior.
But like I said, you can count these kind of posters on one hand here at gnrevolution. Some take the bait, some ignore it!

The live dvd its 80% done, we just need to do some mastering to the audio source, and to announce the release date, we are also thinking to make a website or something like that, because we are loving the concept of this live dvd (the filmed and edited by fans idea, and seeing GNR from the fan that attended the concert point of view) , and also to make it easier for everyone to download this baby
The documentary (for the ones that didnt know, we are working on a 10-minute doc, about the last CD world tour, to release with the live dvd) is a little bit more delayed because we are trying to finish first the live dvd which is the main idea, and the concept of making a documentary from fans footage its a lot more complex, and also we are trying to include some sort of surprise on it, but cant tell until its confirmed

Like they'd help them book tours and venues all over the world but just not the in the US. Yeah right.
Just my opinion but it seems like the common sense opinion to me.
Things like major companies' many different divisions all over the world is prolly a bit more complicated than that!
Spotify, a major online music streaming service in Europe has struck a deal with all the major labels in Europe. Yet a deal with the US divisions of those same labels seem to be nowhere in sight! Same goes for Netflix, only the other way around. Europe is not getting Netflix.
Same with Apple's new iCloud service which launches in the fall(?) in the US. Europe ain't getting that service until sometime in 2012 at the earliest.
Wierd? Yes! Complicated? Yes!
But there is most likely some high level of common business sense that is beyond the comprehension of GNR-fans on a message board!

Business is business. If there was money to be made, it would have happened.
And Axl is Axl!
I'd bet this isn't the first time Axl has refused to do something because of a personal or professional "grudge".
I'm pretty sure there are money to be made out of US tour. Sure the music marked in the US is a bit different then some other areas. But people in the US isn' THAT different from people in every fucking other country in the world.
