Paul Manafort Wrote Op-Ed With Russian While On Bail

President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort was ghostwriting an op-ed with a Russian with ties to the Russian intelligence service while out on bail last month, Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team said, CNN reported.

Manafort was working on the op-ed, written in English, as recently as Nov. 30. It related to his political work in Ukraine and his foreign lobbying and money laundering criminal charges.

In a court filing, Mueller's team claims "Manafort worked on the draft with a long-time Russian colleague of Manafort's, who is currently based in Russia and assessed to have ties to a Russian intelligence service," ABC News reported.

The filing from Mueller's team Monday asked the court to renegotiate the $10 million unsecured bail and house arrest agreement Mueller's office and Manafort's lawyers made last week. It asserts the op-ed reflects "an intention to violate or circumvent the Court's existing Orders." Therefore, "the government submits that the proposed bail package is insufficient to reasonably to assure his appearance as required," according to ABC.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson placed a gag order on the trial and warned both sides not to "try the case on the courthouse steps."

"This is a criminal trial, not a public relations campaign," Jackson said.

Prosecutors said if the op-ed had been published it would have violated the judge's order because it was written "to influence the public's opinion of defendant Manafort, or else there would be no reason to seek its publication — much less for Manafort and his long-time associate to ghostwrite it in another's name."

The former campaign chairman was indicted in October as part of the ongoing Russia probe on 12 counts related to work done before joining the Trump campaign, including conspiracy against the U.S., conspiracy to launder money and serving as an unregistered agent of a foreign principal. Manafort pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

7-2 verdict. Trump’s travel ban continues unaltered. When will we prevent far left judges on the west coast from wasting time?

The only think surprising about this ruling is it wasn’t 9-0.

It continues for now, but it's not the final say in the matter. No decision has been made on the constitutionality of the law. We're still waiting for the court of appeals to make that decision.

You don't think when it makes it's way to SCOTUS (assuming the 9th circuit doesn't leave it in place) after this ruling it will be upheld? .

I didn't say that. I said no final ruling has been made.

Mueller has now subpoenaed Deutsche Bank for Trump's financials.

Trump's lawyers deny this. But his lawyers also claimed Trump didn't write that Tweet that incriminated him for obstruction either.

Also, Manafort must be the biggest idiot in the world. Or just so arrogant, he thinks he can do anything. I wouldn't be surprised if his bail is revoked.

Have you found a Samantha Bee clip yet explaining how Trump obstructed Justice?  How firing Comey impacted any investigation?  Or did you just stop at the headline that says Trump obstructed Justice?

Always trying to pivot huh?

Well since an investigation is ongoing, I'll wait for Mueller's results. But he's on record asking Senators and other intelligence people to make this go away. Also asking loyalty from Comey, and then firing him when it was clear he wasn't some bootlick. Among other things...

But as I said, there is a reason Fox News is saying that obstruction isn't a crime.

The National review article I linked earlier does a good job of explaining why your thoughts are folly.

Don’t forget, Comey told Congress Trump was never under investigation. And nothing from Mueller has had anything to do with the election.

It’s over. Now the only question is how much did Clinton’s Steele Dossier factor into any of this. I’d be much more worried of the fall out from the FBI being partisan than I would anyone on Trump’s team being indicted for anything related to the election.

This is completely detached from reality of course.

Seriously.

But I see what you're doing here. You also see what's in the pipeline. So you're trying to create a schism here. Unwilling to admit you're wrong, you want to slice this up in to particulars so you can't ever be wrong.

So when the Trump admin does go down the toilet, you'll say "Ah ha, but it wasn't for this! As I've said all along" (and ask for an apology.)

You're a pretty dishonest guy.

Vindicated for what?

We have one reporter, who put out erroneous info and a company who reprimanded him for it an apologized. That's pretty much it.

In the meantime we have two indictments, two guilty pleas and Kushner is probably next to be scooped up by Mueller.

Don't conflate, don't lie, and quit acting like a martyr. You've been wrong about nearly everything thus far.

Slightly off topic...I saw Steel Panther last week, and they kept fucking up the intro to SCOM. Too fast, too slow, off key...the lead singer says "C'mon, you sound like DJ Ashba."
