Those casual fans don't know what they are missing. Appetite alone has so many great songs that are equal to those Big 3 tunes on the radio. Rocket Queen is THE greatest song on that album.

The real sad thing is the Illusion albums, where too much attention is given to cover songs like Knocking On Heaven's Door or Live and Let Die. People are really missing out if they've never heard Coma, Locomotive, Pretty Tied Up, Breakdown, 14 Years, Dust & Bones, Double Talking Jive, Don't Damn Me, Bad Obsession, etc.

Nirvana overrated as usual.

I dunno man, kurt is still a major influence to this day...my kids have discovered nirvana...it's like a time warp

My 15yo was listening to unplugged on Spotify today

My 18yo has like 4 nirvana t-shirts

Cobain posters on their bedroom walls...pretty wild

That says a lot about how shitty the music has been for the last 25+ years. Says a lot about the poor taste of the audience as well. Nirvana themselves would not rate their music ahead of the bands who influenced them from earlier decades. I'm not even a super old guy (born 1985), but I don't think the older music from the 1940's to 1970's gets anywhere near the respect it deserves. Sadly a lot of the audience who appreciated that music is dead now.

I'm all in favor of using AI to give us more GN'R music with Axl's classic voice, especially new songs/albums in the future. He had one of the coolest voices ever until it slipped away in his later years. I'm not even against having a backing track for him in concerts. If Slash/Duff and others are doing a good job playing live instruments, I think the audience deserves to hear a strong voice from Axl instead of the Mickey Mouse one.

I'd also place Roy Orbison on my list. His comeback had just begun when he died. They said how happy he was to finally be back...and then it's over.

Jeff Lynne never got over his death. Let him write the songs and produce it.

Speaking of those two....how about a proper followup to that Traveling Wilburys album? Loved that album....

Orbison is one of my favorites. Would be glad to see AI new music for him. He had the GOAT voice and pretty great songwriting too.

Given that Axl has wasted the last 30+ years, I am 100% in favor of Artificial Intelligence to give us new GN'R music. Also want to see high quality AI music from dead musicians, especially the folks who died young such as Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and others.

I find it sad that the rubbish Greatest Hits album is performing better than Appetite. Way too many cover songs on that Greatest Hits album, with only 3 tracks from Appetite.

They've been overdue for a new GH since the day that monstrosity was released.

The funny(and pathetic) thing about it is the fact GNR wanted all fans to boycott GH. Both Axl and Slash camps suggested it at the time.

I did boycott it...never bought it.

Once the reunion happened and they obviously weren't going to release something....they started pushing it on their social media!

I'm not surprised by it outperforming AFD. This always happens with high profile bands that reunite. It's why most of them release a new compilation. Casual fans...the majority of the audience.... always gravitate towards hits collections.

Edit

Just took another look at its tracklist....yeah it's shit. Pure shit.

Sad to me that it has so many cover songs. GN’R had a lot of great original material and some pretty important songs are missing from this collection. Yet that’s the only exposure to the band that a lot of people will have.

Rock and Roll is dead. I am looking forward to Artificial Intelligence giving us new GN’R material and new songs from dead artists.
