Axl needed a band to create better music than he was capable of doing alone. We don't know that recording is done. We don't know if Robin is or isn't gone. We don't know if CD will ever be released (much less anytime soon).
I would find it somewhat funny that they did all these tours (or tried to) without releasing an album and now people think he's going to release the album and not tour. The only way that happens is if the reunion is a priority over the success of CD, and considering Axl's fragile ego, that's highly unlikely. The only way I can see a reunion being a priority for Axl was if he was broke, in which case he'd do the reunion and then take the money to "improve" CD to where it can be successful.

I am with you Bright. People take the pathetic loudmouth assclowns spewing the same shit daily for the past 8 years as true realist Gnr fans. No they're not...they are fairly disturbed individuals who get off on being in a fight. Rather be in a fight than have no attention at all. It is fairly sad. Seriously, I can't stand Scott Weiland and pretty much don't like any song Slash has created since 1991. However, I choose not to be a buzz kill for his fans or Scott's fans or whoever. (I will sometimes make snide comments, but for the most part) I DON'T CARE!!!!... and if I don't care or don't have anything useful to say, I SHUT UP. Music isn't worth all the negative energy. This GNR fanbase borders on idiotic sociopaths. Simple as that.:flame::flame:
I don't know (or care) if you were referring to me specifically, but I'll respond anyway. For you it was just music. And because of that, you'll never understand how I feel or why I feel the way I do.
I can't speak for others, but for me, GnR helped shape (and save) my life and gave me a passion for something other than all the bad things that were going on in my life at that time. GnR represents a lot more to me than the music. I could relate to a lot of the things he sang about and those songs still remind me of what I was going through in life at the time those songs were out. GnR represents a time in my life where I could have gone down a road of self destruction and probable death or down a road of getting my life straightened out and becoming a successful human being - that is why I am so passionate about the original band and their legacy. I'm sorry if my passion for the band is upsetting to you or you don't understand it.

Well--it's a loud minority of fans, who have major issues. They join GN'R boards, and hang out on them, only to admire the band and other forum members as long as they feel the same way that they do. Their lives must be absolutely pathetic. I have no issue with agreeing about art, but to post non-stop 24 hours positive garbage indicates a true, mind-boggling mental illness. Most fans just read the boards, seldom posting, scanning for news. It's only a song. When it becomes a conduit, or outlet for buried love of all things Axl, there are problems. I try to ignore these knuckleheads, as god knows what their motives are.

It really shows the state of mind of the internet base. Azoff has a lot of bridges to rebuild.
I still don't understand why the general public's response surprises anybody.
It isn't the general public. Its the hardcore base doing that, which is troubling on several fronts.

It's an equally loud minority that loves all of the new music. The same complaints you have about the people that hate it apply to those that love it unconditionally. Kind of ironic, isn't it?

At least Cookie Monster shared his opinion. I should go post there as Oscar the Grouch!

It may be the hardcore fanbase there, but go to youtube or anywhere else and you'll find similar comments not made by the fanbase. People aren't interested in this version of GnR. If it's not Axl/Slash, the public isn't going to see it as GnR unless the music is not just good, but great. None of what we've heard is going to change people's minds.

my departure has nothing to do with artistic differences, as many people claim to know. It was not as simple as 'Axl wanted Synths and Slash was old-school' It had nothing to do with axl wanting to go digital and Slash staying analog. To think that disolving the kind of band and the kind of chemestry we had over something so trivial is just insane. It's true I am old school, and I do like keeping it simple - but i've never been closed minded. If anything I was more than felxiable and willing to try any kind of recording technique or explore any new sound so long as I was doing so on an equal playing field with musicians that worked together toward a common goal. I would have hung in there with Axl through an industrial record or whatever else he wanted to try if the creative vibe between us was positive. My flexibility is the only thing that kept me in the band as long as it did - that's how a team works. Unfortunately we stoped being a team somewhere along the way
from: Slash, by Slash and Anthony Bozza - Harper Collins 2007 see pp454-455.
What's he going to say? I love Slash as much as anybody, but you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt just like you have to take the little bit that Axl says with a grain of salt. None of it is 100% true. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. The musical direction of the band did have something to do with it...even as a Slash supporter, I admit that.
