I could not disagree more. Those are two bands who are extremely overrated.
Ok, name 3 bands that have come out in the last 3-4 years that are any good being played on the radio?? I don't know about where you live but radio here (not including Sirius or XM) only plays Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, or Weezer and Linkin Park new songs. Everything else is 90's rock, with some 70's & 80's mixed in. I cannot name 1 new band aside from cheapass crap like Fallout Boy or the other crappy band that sounds like them. The Killers are ok.

Death Cab for Cutie & My Morning Jacket are two bands who should be more popular. Had they come onto the scene in the mid-late 90's they'd be as big as Matchbox 20 or Jimmy Eat World. Instead, they're sheltered away in a small following with a myspace page.

I gotta agree with James, and if CD is done this way (especially thru Walmart) forget about PASnow buying it. It's the principal of it all. Who are they to tell me not to shop at Best Buy, or Target!! If they don't want me shopping there they must not want my money.
It's not that I love buying CD's at one store over the other. Best Buy & Circuit City usually are cheaper so you buy other stuff while you're in there, but I don't mind paying an extra $2 or $3 somewhere else if it's closer or more convenient, especially nowadays. But I love the CHOICE of it all. I control where I buy it, not them.
#6034 Re: The Garden » Al Sharpton is a crook... » 934 weeks ago
Yeah he always seemed like a fraud, this just locks it up. He is basically is a corporation himself. Some causes out there are probably legitimate, it states Jesse Jackson as a rival, I would guess he may be more straightforward in choosing which causes to support or not. I don't recall Jesse Jackson making a big stink about the Don Imus case, whereas Sharpton was over the top treating it like it's the end of the world, or like he used the N-word during Katrina...
That always did it for me, I didn't care much for Imus either way, but I found it ludicrous he was fired over that. Now I'm sure Sharpton got $$ in it somehow, getting money from Imus' sponsors. The funny thing is, while all that was going on, those Jena 6 kids were already in jail. Sharpton didn't care about it until the media made a big deal out of it several months later. The worst in this article are when it says Pepsi & Macy's didn't have enough blacks in their advertising??? WTF!! I'm all for equal opportunity & stuff but that's ridiulous. Instead of going after unhealthy companies who DO target blacks (Kool, Popeyes/Checkers Chicken, St Ides, 40 oz etc) or Walmarts bad employment & benefits practices he gets money from Pepsi for not advertising to blacks. What a scammer.

'But my instincts are that that is ridiculous.'
Thank God someone put that tale to bed. I was getting sick of hearing that.

#6037 Re: The Sunset Strip » Atlantic Sues Stone Temple Pilots' Weiland, Kretz » 935 weeks ago
Just curious, how is Atlantic at fault?? Myb I missed something, but it seemed to me like STP are under contract with Atlantic, but STP is trying to terminate that contract. Atlantic seems to just want the next 2 or 3 albums released under their label.

#6039 Re: The Garden » Elian Gonzalez now a communist » 935 weeks ago
I gotta agree with you. He needed to go back to his father. Funny how in 99 every loved the kid & wanted him to stay yet if it happened in 2005 or whenever illegal immigration became popular there wouldn't have been much of a story. "Get that kid the hell outta here!!"
I don't know if Cuba will remain communist or not, I doubt it. They would really benefit if the US lifted their ambargo with tourism and cigars.

Ashame, he seemed like a very nice guy. You're right Buzzsaw, I don't think he ever had an agenda. A great political journalist/reporter.
