except that a can of DrP prolly only costs them a dime to make

so 3,000,000 x $0.10 = $300,000 whoop-dee-doo for a huge company...remember tacobell gave out free tacos in the world series to everyone in america a couple years ago? same thing really

You missed a couple of zeros there... 300,000,000 x $0.10 = $30,000,000.  That's an expensive marketing campaign.  The thing that's really beneficial for Dr Pepper is that the product would be exposed to EVERYONE in the US, which guarantees a hit at people who have never tried Dr Pepper before and who will like the product and purchase again.  All of a sudden, Dr Pepper's sales grow substantially in the years to come.  I think free samples are often underestimated as a successful marketing ploy.

Everybody is NOT going to get a free can of soda. They'll do something like ask you to mail in your request. Then, you'll get a coupon in the mail for a free can. Thus 300,000,000 customers is dwindled down to about 10,000, which is about the amount that will go thru the time & effort for a can of soda. For the amount of publicity they've recv'd over this, it's been well worth it. 5

I know what your saying, but if he isn't, who is??

My thing is he probably has the right of first reusal. In otherwords, if he wants to give it a shot, they'll welcome him in. If he doesn't want the gig (which is possible & probably what you guys are getting at) then yeah, he wouldn't take it or publically be offered.

I'd just like to see something happen quicly. Pick up a new singer & move on. That probably won't happen though, VR will just dissolve into oblivion for a while. We'll see.

RHCP??! You're implying Anthony Kiedis, yes?

I'd love it, but alas, not gonna happen. I wouldn't seeing a "Revolving" use of singers. Each doing 1 song. There was a Mike Watt album (bassist for band The Minutemen) that rotated singer, guitarists etc. Everyone from Eddie Vedder, to Evan Dando, to Henry Rollins to the Beasties sung a song. Cool album, I wouldn't mind seeing VR go that route. Although, I think Slash is planning on that for his solo project.

Grohl & Kiedis, not gonna happen. Cornell I still think there's a chance at it.

I tried googling "Dr Pepper + Guns N Roses". Had a few hits actually. It sparked a huge debate on this forum.  16

Grohl & Cornell are great choices. But highly unlikely, as is Ness. I just hope it isn't some generic bland metal singer. Like the guy from Dark New Day mentioned in another thread. I'd then give up on both VR & GNR if that happened. Later,

I hope they move on & get a new singer. They have 2 options, get someone to tour with Zeppelin, essentially to cover Scott's vocals, or someone to lead them in a new direction.

I think Kravitz could add a new dimension (granted, a softer dimension, but whatever) to both. I'd like to see him cover songs like Nighttrain too. My fave choice, for recording a new album, would be Mike Ness, of Social Distiortion. I think his lyric writing, voice, and musical style would be a good impact for the 3rd & final album. A punch in the face.

People who speed up to make it seem like your cutting them off. Yesterday I was coming home on a 4 lane turnpike (2 lanes each way). I was in the slower lane, and wanted to pass the slow moving car in front of me. I look in my side view mirror, wait until there is a gap between cars & put on my turn signal. Right away I see this gold Lexus SUV moving faster to close the gap. Whenever this happens, i still pull in (just to piss them off) I pull in, and the guy creeps onto my tail even more, as if now I cut him off. JACKASS!!! Don't speed up & i would fit in perfectly asshole! I pass the car & pull back to the slower lane and stare the bastard down as he looks at me like I'm the jerkoff.

Also, when turning onto a road at an intersection this will happen too. I'll pull in, drive up, and suddenly this car comes flying up behind me to flash their high beams or honk at me.. Meanwhile they went from like 35mph to 55 mph just to catch up to me so they can say I cut them off.
