OK, the link apex gave to night 2 Patience was a billion times better. Amazing what the right mix can achieve(/hide).

I LOVE the musical rearrangement of Better (I assume I'm seeing night 1), but one of the comments nailed it for me- I thought for a minute someone had edited in awful singing as a joke, like one of those shredding videos. I've only watched that and WTTJ. It'll be interesting to compare to night 2.

Nice favicon! Been wanting one of those since I first found this place!

I've temporarily removed the font-replacement code which I think may have been causing the flickering. Are you able to test it smoke and let me know if its now fixed at your end?
So, a couple of things I'm noticing. First, it's still flickering like mad. To best describe the scenario, if I click into a forum or a thread (any place where I can flick to scroll a significant amount), when I scroll the middle black area flickers between being a narrow empty ribbon and the normal width with text in it. A few times, it's been so bad that it's just seemed to lock up completely, leaving me with a narrow black ribbon.
Also, strangely enough, the background in the Black Hole is the same as everywhere else, but only on my phone. Looks and behaves fine on my laptop.
New issue, on both phone and laptop, the "New Posts" on the main page seem to have disappeared.
I wish I could video the behavior on my phone for you- I was looking for an app that does screen cams. I may be able to get you some still screen shots if that would help though.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone, not tablet. Stock browser. Jelly Bean.
Are you able to pinch and zoom on the tablet? The flickering is.just weird. I'll try Chrome mobile tomorrow.

Slight bummer that multi touch resizing is no longer supported. I use that a ton on mobile to hit tiny links and buttons.
The flicker thing is still my main prob though. It's really frustrating to use, having to wait for the screen to repaint and stop flickering.

I also found that the checkbox for "keep me logged in" or whatever it says doesn't work, either on the phone or on Chrome. Haven't tried other browsers yet.

I like the direction of the new layout a lot, but its super flickery on my mobile. If it matters, its a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean.
When I scroll down everything just flickers and jumps and disappears. It resettles after.I stop scrolling for a few.seconds.

So is this a GNR is supposed to be on stage delay, or just the show in general is running behind?

I'm going to be honest about something and I'm sorry in advance if it pisses anyone off but I want to get it off my chest after yesterdays posts.
The LAST thing I want is for Axl to fail. Axl's music is very important to me. Disproportionately so even. It's why I have a stupid number of posts talking about this band and it's spin off bands.
This doesn't just apply to his old music. I've posted many times about how hearing those screams in twat really kind of touched me emotionally in ways other music hasn't. Just hearing the demo of Catcher many years ago inspired me that it was possible for people to still write great songs even when so much has been done before, and inspired me to go back to working on my own songwriting. So Axl's music is fundamental to me.
It's strange to me that guys like Russ and Nemo and others who I know are long term supporters of the band like me can listen to the same thing I did last night and not notice what I did. I'm happy you guys enjoyed it. I won't go into detail about the issues I noticed, other than to clarify, that I'm not expecting Axl at 50 to sound like he did at 21 - but what I can't deny that I've noticed is a massive shift in his sound since 2009. I have a bootleg of the band from 2009 that sounds now like an entirely different lead singer to what we heard last night.
Watching the part where the jungle lyrics die, to me it looks like Axl doesn't forget them but is actually unable to sing them. I wonder if there's deeper medical issues at play and perhaps that's why he's generally avoiding rasp and more punishing techniques too. But that's speculation.
Perhaps that is just how it has to be. I have no idea of the real reasons it happens - as none of us actually know Axl's medical state, practise regimen, voice condition relative to his age or any other factors. I'm just saying there's a dramatic difference noticeable in these videos which are only 3 years apart and to me that's a cause of concern.
Hopefully it turns out to be a temporary change, like his 01 voice was, or perhaps he'll be able to songwrite in the future in ways that compliment and accommodate the voice he has now. I hope so.
I just found it odd that other people don't hear it. And then when it was mentioned we're told it's either because we want to be negative or because we expect him to be 20 years old. For myself neither of those things could be further from the truth.
I deeply respect Axl as a musician, performer, songwriter and lyricist and I really hope that in the future he shares more music with us, and if there's medical problems I'd support him though that too, I'm just saying I can't lie and say that I don't notice issues with the performance last night.
Good post, monkey. It captures a lot of the way I feel about Axl (moreso than any ex-Gunner by a mile).
I have a really hard time believing that Axl hasn't just gotten complacent though. I know he's 50, and I know his vocal style is possibly THE hardest out there. But those who downplay Tyler's vocal abilities and the difficulty of his style should think twice. That's the most comparable. Nazareth is another good one, but they dropped down a few steps, but still sound good. I'm not sure how well GnR would translate downwards.
Nonetheless, I'll be an over the top fan of his work and I'll carry over top and completely unwarranted hopes for new shit that will blow me away (like TWAT, like the summer 08 leak of Prostitute, like early cuts of The Blues and IRS...) until I die.
But I know I'll also lose patience from time to time and have no problem calling bs on him or his circle when it's warranted. And I'll also ALSO (;)) buy tix to see him anytime he comes to Boston.
Thus is my Axlitis.
