GOP sources: Romney to suspend campaignNext Article in Politics »
From John King
CNN
(CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, GOP sources tell CNN.
A candidate may "suspend" his or her campaign rather than dropping out, and technically remain a candidate. In this case, he or she is entitled to keep any statewide pledged delegates as well as their district-level delegates.
Candidates who officially drop out must forfeit statewide delegates.

Can't say it's much of a shock. He didn't do very well for the amount of money he was spending.

^^ I agree, a few I don't mind. Usually when they are smaller nods or serve a good purpose. But when people like George Clooney or Tom Cruise (not that I mind him & his Scientology, everybody needs something & to each their own) get involved. Ugggghhhhhhh.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was true. Logic tells us there's one of only a few reasons it's not done (Not finished recording, $$, royalty issues re; so many artists etc). As for Elmirs post, I think 2 would be the case. Whether he's being 'unreasonable' is a judgement call, we don't know anything about (maybe the label wants to garnish Axl's first $13 mil in wages, making it likely he won't receive a dime off CD and possibly could be in debt due to record sales lately) but I think he is holding out. One thing I wonder though is if Axl is upset at the label as a result, and is giving the masters for a bunch of filler songs, and b-side stuff, then once his contract is complete, go to another label & release the A-list stuff. I doubt it as GnR would be looked at as a failure if the first album wasn't great, but maybe he's got 2 or 3 great songs, but holding back on 2 or 3 extra hits. Also, he needs to make his money off touring, not albums, so he needs to load this album up.
Who knows. My guess is he is negotiating for money, I dunno why though, bands make a killing off touring ($50 ticket, 20,000 fans, 3-4 nights a week, you do the math) not albums.

McCain will be the President of the US barring any really stupid scandal on his part.
Or "Then we're going to Washington to take back the White House... BWAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

Remember the "Reagan democrats"? Do you realize he wouldn't have won in 1980 without these people you claim "lack conviction"?
I was too young then to know, but I would guess alot of that had to do with the country & economy under Carter. Although I think Carter was partly a guy in tough circumstances, oil crisis, bad economy, then the hostage crisis. He was virtually unelectable. So Dems pretty much had to vote for Reagan. I wouldn't say McCain is as unelectable as Carter, but Bush is putting him in a tough spot, as some Republicans might end up voting Democrat or not voting at all.

Huckabee didn't "win" anything, but he did keep Romney out of any significant contention (which I'm sure was his goal in the last week or two). I think that may have been the biggest surprise to me. I think if not soon, after this weekend Romney will drop out. It'll be interesting to see if Huckabee remains in to try to get some of his supporters. Don't count him out yet, but I don't think he'll do anything.
Obama got a little momentum, but not much. I think "momentum" is done & these candidates are nearly 50/50 now. I just hope they don't start running attack ads & smear campaigns. We'll see. Obama now has to prove himself, he's no longer the "new" candidate, he's gotta state what his platform is & give it some substance.
Overall, as expected McCain seems to be walking away with it. A little bit of a surprise Romney's now toast. And a little bit of a surprise the Dems are almost even, without Obama getting a big news headline or shocking anyone.

On the contrary I believe we'd have less of a chance of being attacked under Obama than under Clinton. Just any leftover skeletons from Clinton's reign may come back to haunt us. I'm not saying it's a great chance, but still. I think that's why we were attacked in 01, having a Bush back in office.
I agree McCain is fairly middle of the road, more than most other Republican candidates, but his war stance is really going to hurt him. As James has said before, logic says we can do alot more with the $$ this war is costing than being in Iraq. Those Middle Eastern countries have loads of coin (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Dubai), why can't they finance & occupy it?! If Mexico had an uprising from insurgents I don't think any country would come over to help, it'd just be us.
As for Health Care, it's kindof ignorant to say people without healthcare choose to have McJobs. I'm going to assume you live in a relatively larger city or suburban area. If you've ever visited small town America there is no Verizon, or Ikea, Best Buy or Olive Garden to take a job at to earn benefits. And I'm talking small small towns, not Allentown or Little Rock, towns not on the maps, pop 500. Likely the father works at a factory, or a skilled trade such as construction, plumber, roofer etc. In which case either self employed or boss (with a staff of 2-3 people) doesn't offer benefits. It truly is a different world. And how about store owners in small towns, they need to pay thousands for healthcare, not just deduct $50 from each paycheck like you or I. Some people actually think healthcare costs what is deducted from their paycheck, not relaizing the employer pays thousands per employee.
Those of us who do have healthcare in this country likely have some of the best in the world. However it's a give & take because unlike other countries (alot of European countries & Canada) not everyone gets it or can afford it. I beleive some kind of healthcare is reasonable (1 doctor visit per year, maybe more for women, high co-pay $100 or so) Just so someone who has an injury isn't stuck with an $8000 bill for a broken ankle, and for people who come down with serious illnesses (cancer, stroke etc). For most of Americans, they will not even need it, but just to cover those who come down with something unfortunate. I also think employers with a staff of over a certain amount (25 or 50 or so) should be req'd to supply it. I had a boss once who didn't give benefits yet drove a f'ing BMW & bought a new (large) house, needless to say I left. Now like any government run program it probably won't run very efficiently, but being a new program, upstarted in todays modern, computer times, there's a better chance for it to initially start out more efficiently than others since it wouldnt be dragged down by bureaucratic bullshit.
#6480 Re: The Garden » What are you eating? » 953 weeks ago
A hamburger, cheeseburger, and fries from In n Out Burger.
In N Out Burger rocks. Cool rabbit story also, Mmmmmmmm Hickory smoke, although it sucks eating a rabbit. It's like venicin (deer meat), it sucks eating a deer, such a peaceful animal but man they taste pretty good. I had deer bologna once too, it was awesome. I bet Tommie's eaten that.
A cool trick for making frech fries is turn em into crab fries. Just load them up with Old Bay seasoning before, during & after they are cooking. Taste pretty good & changes them up a bit. Also, everything fries where you add Old Bay, Garlic powder, salt and Oregeno/Basil etc.
