Considering what kind of an effort from the artist/band it actually takes to be a bestseller in this day n' age. And knowing that a major label really have to make it a top priority. I doubt very much that we will see GNR on top of the world again.

The huge variety of music now available due to digital download has almost wiped out (new) stadium-rock-acts.

The time and money to spend on an artist or band are now spread thin over an endless sea of acts.

As long as a new GNR album sells well enough that they can keep going, it's fine with me.

The majority of the record-buying public have also moved on from the hardrocking late 80's and early 90's.
Rappers or clean-cut artists are now the "voice of the youth"
