He wasn't great, but he was serviceable.  A 4.79 ERA as a lefty can get you a job making more than most of us (except maybe JB).

I'll be interested to see how this develops.  A lot of other things can cause sudden death, but in this era, some sort of drugs are almost always the first suspicion and it's usually right.

But it's ok when the only comeback to anything negative about Axl is "insert Slash insult here"??  That has to work both ways.  You can't be anti Slash or Axl completely if you love Guns N' Roses.  It really is that simple.  You can prefer one or not like what one or both did, but you have to respect both of them for their contributions to the band.

I think TSI is a fine album for what it is.  Mixing a couple cover songs into an album is OK, all cover songs is a tough sell no matter who you are.  I don't think all the songs do the originals justice, but they are what Guns was at it's core.  I think the guitar work on most of those songs is great and I'd love to hear TSI instrumentals if they exist.

Not to be selfish, but do you have the show (I think it was 1992) with the JuJu Hounds at The Metro in Chicago?  I was at that show and would love to get the audio or video (or both!).

You've done really well since missing the first week.  Very impressive.

It is one person's side of the story, but it isn't one sided,  There is a difference.

I agree that the best story would be getting them all together to recall things that happened, but even then they wouldn't agree on what happened.  Very few movies or books about a band after they broke up are told from all sides.  The script writers have to pick one and go with it.  Otherwise you'd have a movie that contradicted itself.

I 100% agree here.   I'll see it but it will irk me that it is totally one sided.

The book isn't even one-sided.  Slash goes out of his way to praise Axl's voice, performance, songwriting, etc.  His ONLY problems with Axl in the book is not showing up for shows and not treating the rest of the band with respect.  I don't see a problem with that.  He doesn't go into Axl's personal problems other than to say he had some and they made him the way he was.  He said it wasn't his place to discuss those even though he was aware of them.  The book is very fair to Axl.

I think a little contribution from CC's jazz band could have elevated the song.  When a song isn't very good, it doesn't take much to raise the bar.

I'm not saying there aren't Bach fans out there, but the number is small in comparison to the Guns and Axl fans out there.  Those people got their copies right away.  Who is going to buy all the extra copies?  Without a hit single, nobody will.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Back in the Saddle released as a single, and when that happens, everybody will know the real reason Baz asked Axl to sing on his record.  Sure, they're friends, but Baz has other friends as well, right?  How many songs did they sing on?

#6530 Re: Guns N' Roses » Angel Down Selling Out » 919 weeks ago

The problem is going to be once all the Guns fans have their copies, record stores are going to be stuck with all these extra copies that will end up in the bargain bin.  Nobody else wants this album and most that bought it did so ONLY to hear Axl.
