My rats arent bothered by it. They do like listening to Electric Wizard and watching the Shield though.

I'll play it on my Mum's dog and see what happens.....

Not gonna happen.

i don't think i ever seriously thought it would happen... fun to speculate though...

Sure it's fun, but history suggests it won't happen. The only rumor like this to come true was 02 VMAs. Every year since we had the same rumor for basically the VMAs, AMA's and once even the Oscars I think. Probably the Billboard awards every year too.

This could have legs though being as its the day the album is out and would certainly be a very clever idea by GNR.

Does anyone think that the rumor of Tyler/Perry presenting them reeks of bs?

Tyler - 'Ok heres a band that we toured with back in the day, a band that wrote one of the classic rock n roll albums of all time Appetite for Destruction, we are great friends with these guys, Slash, Duff, Izzy and have been for years..... here they are!!! Theyre back!!! Its Guns N Fucking Roses....!!!!'

Perry - 'Hey! Who are those guys?' Izzy's nose cant have got that big since giving up cocaine'.

Tyler - 'Damn that is big, what a waste'

I think Aerosmith have too much history and friendship with the real GNR to essentialy give the finger to their old buddies that are no longer there. Any opinions?

It cannot be organic when the parts are recorded across the globe in like 10 years and some of the musicians who play on the same song haven't ever met. You could hire Slash, Duff, John Petrucci, Buckethead, Tony Levin, Andrew Llloyd Webber, Jon Lord and Trent Reznor, with this recording process/system Axl used the result wouldn't be more organic.

Sure, I agree with you there. I guess what I was thinking was that the old band were exactly that, a band, that all jammed together and got things done properly in a rock n roll kinda way. In that sense its more organic. Whereas the new bunch of whoever it is now dont really have any chemistry IMO.

Yeah I've never even heard of Hinder, but no doubt they are a load of rubbish.

But if they are/were GNR fans like the rest of us then they are more than entitled to give their opinion on the album surely? Just because they have a public platform to give it from, or because they're shit doesnt make it less valid. IMO.

#66 Re: Guns N' Roses » Surprise appearance at the AMA's? » 877 weeks ago

If they do do it it'd better be a damn sight better than the horrific shambles of the VMAs all those years ago!!

If they do play - please dont bring out the foot guitar Ron....

The band is likely to be introduced by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

That pretty much renders this rumour to be a crock of shit for me.

Stranger things have happened though in the GNR world. After all, we are getting Chinese Democracy this week. Although its already dropped off my playlist sad

Duff has one of the greatest Bass Tones ever.  Killer bass lines in SCOM and nice acoustic guitar work on Patience.

Yes Duff's work on AFD is excellent - sounds to me like a certain someone liked the SCOM bass lick so much he stuck similar to it on the start of Street of Dreams. Cant forget its So Easy either - thats classic Duff. I think he even wrote the song didnt he? One (of many) writing credits for Mr McKagan. If he only had one credit over the best part of a decade I'd agree that it wasnt worth having him in the band.

This isnt a Tommy v Duff thread though - but I agree that the new album would cerainly benefit from the work of the old Gunners. It definitely lacks that organic feel and edge that they brought to the table.

Scraped is balls to the wall rock....what are you Smoking? Riad? IRS? Shacklers?

Oh my God, Scraped is okay, but ermmm, okay, fuck, Axl just can do a rocker like he used to be able too....  Can Scraped really hang with YCBM or Nighttrain?

dude, nothing Axl does will be good enough for you unless Slash is involved....just admit it. You are an old school Slash nutswinger. Nothing wrong with that but it is pretty obvious from your posts here and at HTGTH.:slash:

I'll be the first to admit that and no-one should have to hide their preferences - After all JimBob isnt here anymore. Guns N Roses used to be my favourite band, no question, everything about them was fucking awesome, the sum of all parts. The music, the band, the controversy. I used to await and love every crazy thing they did without question. This is a cut and paste, badly produced clusterfuck. Dont get me wrong, I like it, but I dont love it by anymeans - its a different animal. More like a rabbit that the snarling tiger that was old GNR.

This has only taken so long because Axl wants people to forget the old band ever existed and try to hoodwink people to think this is GNr as its always been. This is aimed at a whole new fanbase, 14 year old scrotes looking for a proper rock band. Cant be done - there'll always be Appetite an UYI to show how GNR is done properly - no doubt a (lucrative) albatross around Axl's neck. People looking for the 'most dangerous band in the world' would probably be better off downloading the discography of Enya. I only hope that new folks investigating this album will step back and go 'fuck, thats real GNR' when they listen to Appetite or Lies or whatever.

Just my 2 cents - go on, flame me to death.

Terrible mixing on Catcher and TWAT, ruins the songs.

Yeah I noticed the same thing, cant believe those shit bells and whistles things are still on the TWAT intro. As a whole the demos of these 2 were much better. Catcher though would be amazing if they'd left Brian on it, but we all know that. TWAT just lacks something that the older versions had IMO.

Jeez, what happened to the Rhiad solo?!!? The first part of it is great, but does Ron base some of his solos on the loading noise of a ZX Spectrum? Real shame. IRS solos sounds butchered as well.

Bizarrely, and I cant believe it really but I dont have TOO many gripes about this album (asides from the name blah blah blah), I'm even starting to warm to Better shockingly.

One thing that this album does lack is really punchy, catchy intros. Instead we have intros like Scraped, IRS, Better (all TERRIBLE intros IMO). The only real stinker though here for me is This I Love. The vocals for Madagascar also sound pretty damn poor, it still sounds like a demo. Funny, but the let downs here for the most part are Axl's vocals and Ron's solos.
