RAR 06 is so good I watched that concert last week...2006 Axl was so good wish he released the album then. I was pretty young then but it seemed there was some media attention he introduced the Killers at some award show and what not, that was really the last chance even though 02 should have been it.
I have always really like BBF live, he never really messed up or plays the classic solos bad. I think at least 90% of his additions to CD were pretty awful but some of that most likely has to do with the mixing. It sounds way too pasted in the songs.

The trick to me is - Can hardschool capture that UYI vibe though?
I can't help but think of The Last Jedi and the way it was hated for being different, so then they made a fan service version in Rise of Skywalker and it was hated all the more.
What i'm getting at is that Absurd is hated for not sounding much like retro GNR, but if hardschool tries and fails to hit the highs of the UYI experience is that better or worse than something like silkworms that's doing it's own thing?
I'm not shitting on Hardschool before we even hear it, I'm just saying in demo form it was no Cather in the Rye or There Was a Time in terms of it's closeness to UYI era sound, and the public doesn't want those, they want Estranged and November Rain.
Or you know, another You Could Be Mine in the era of Terminator 2.
The bar is very very high. I actually feel like people are going to hate on whatever they do these days. But I hope to be wrong. I hope it comes out and kicks ass. But to my mind...Absurd is cool as fuck...so there's that lol.
I kind of agree with Hardschool, for people looking for an epic will def not get it (most likely). I feel like Hardschool will, judging from the slash rehearsal fanmade mix with Axl's vocals pasted on it, will maybe appease the people just looking for a classic AFD type gnr sound.
They will need an "epic" UYI type ballad for the third single I would imagine. Judging from the Village leaks the only option is Atlas, and for all we know that could, except for vocals, sound completely different. The only other one we heard (kinda), is The General from the cellphone leak, but that was only a short bit of the song, but at least it seems like it has a cool progression and has classic Axl vocals.

It's getting a ton of shit over at the Steve Hoffman forum...most active forum I browse anymore....but even there people are looking forward to what they do next.
Yeah I feel like they had to know this song would be mixed and then they will do Hardschool to bring back the "it doesn't sound like classic gnr" camp. Also Hardschool doesn't really have the CD outtake baggage as Absurd does. Cause really how many people have heard the Hardschool leak? It like didn't have any press or anything.

It seems the press doesn't mind the song but other forums I seen are VERY mixed and a lot hate the song. I feel like a lot won't really give it a chance because it is a CD era song. Also it doesn't "sound" like GNR. I think HS would be better because it has more of the classic GNR sound and it was not played live in the CD era, so unless people are familiar with the era or the leaks, they will maybe think it is a new song. I seen a lot of people say the riff sounds like GNR even though the guitar work expect for the solos is pretty much the same as the BBF leak.

I voted the September option but I can see the other August ones too. I wouldn't be shocked if they play it live in CA on 8/19 and then release it as a single that night. I am not too sure if playing it live a couple times before release like Absurd would be a good move due to the state of Axl's voice and how it is right in the range he does not have anymore. I would also like them to promote it a bit more beforehand. Also the spelling of Hard Skool in the stage video and setlist is very cringe and I hope they don't really spell it like that lol, much worse than the backwards R.

From what I seen reception is mixed. They had to know that like said before. I think Hardschool will be the one they promote more as it sounds the most like gnr
