this article gives you an idea of what artists and labels wrestle over and how standoffs can occur. Axl is most likely fighting over some of the same issues.

I love Radiohead. Nice to actually like a band who does something....

Gnr was the third highest selling catalog artist in 2007. That is VERY GOOD. As you can see they sold more than The Beatles in the US. Of course,  It doesn't mean that any new band records will explode, but it is a good sign that the brand name is still active in the minds of multiple generations of consumers. It will help the new band sell a few more records based on reputation alone...should the redhead choose to release anything.:haha:

#7134 Re: Guns N' Roses » Why Tommy is Axl's only Equalizer-old interview » 924 weeks ago

he never really slammed Gnr....him and Paul just chuckle and say they thought Gnr was better from "the neck down"...in other words just rockin. Paul didn't like the ballads, just the rock. Tommy never really ripped them, that is a urban myth.

old 1986 Replacements Article-Tommy is 19
1. Very enlightening about Tommy's view of the music industry and rock n' roll in general. Some of these exact things I have heard before from "guys" everybody seems to worship.
2. A perfect example of why he is in this new band-he sees it as a challenge and as some form of statement. Essentially, another way of being anti something...which from reading this interview, you will see the spirit and tenacity of The Mats. A lot of the same things Gnr stood for. They hated critics and writers. Read it-you'll see.
3. He was a rock star before anyone in Gnr was...still is a legendary rock star in the industry. Record sales don't equal respect.
4. He is clearly the only other blue blood bonafide rock star in the new Gnr. The other guys are certainly quality musicians, but Tommy has been doing this shit since 1981 when he was 15!
5. It's a great interview.

fair enough... I see potential and I do like the new band playing their material a helluva alot more than them doing the AFD rehash. We do agree on that. 19

Buzz, again, I went to 7 UYI shows. 2 in Noblesville, Indiana-MAY 1991; one in LA; one in Chapel Hill, NC; 2 in Birmingham, AL, one in Columbia Sc ....the old band was incredible, no doubt. But, the new band is pretty damn good. They are different animals.:headbang:

no use debating this anymore as we simply don't see eye to eye on much of anything regarding the new band...

#7139 Re: Guns N' Roses » Questions » 925 weeks ago

James, you and I were hardcore fans, I wanted all new songs then just like I do now. However, in a crowd of 15,000....12,000 of which went to hear AFD, the hardcores were pretty outnumbered.

Thanks Buzz, Yes, it did help...it reinforced to me that you didn't see any shows before UYI came out and you didn't see people going to the bathroom during an unknown 10 minute Nov Rain.

your specific quote saying that didn't occur before uyi and me specifically giving you an example of when it did. Maybe you need to read what you write.

" I've read what people that have gone to see the new band have to say - they love the old songs and about half the crowd goes to get beer or to go to the bathroom during a new song or a dreaded solo.  That didn't happen on the UYI tour before the albums came out. "

I was fuckin there and it most certainly did happen. I'll go toe to toe with you all night long.
