"Greatest of All Time Billboard 200 Albums
GREATEST OF ALL TIME BILLBOARD 200 ALBUMS
These all-time rankings are based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 (from its launch on Aug. 4, 1958 through Oct. 10, 2015) and Billboard 200 (from Aug. 17, 1963 — when we combined our two leading pop album album charts for stereo and mono releases into one all-encompassing weekly chart — through Oct. 10, 2015). Titles are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at lower rungs earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over the years, eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods. Artists are ranked based on the combined point totals, as outlined above, of all their Hot 100 or Billboard 200 chart entries."
I would like to see a detailed explanation of this point system and how scores are calculated...

Countdown to Extinction - 1992
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Nick Menza
Honourable Mention: Either Foreclosure of a Dream or the title track. They're both ok tracks.
Youthanasia - 1994
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Nick Menza
Honourable Mention: None really, at this stage the quality of the albums is in decline
Hidden Treasures - 1995 (B-Sides Collection)
Various lineups because it's B-Side collection but for the two linked below
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Nick Menza
Cryptic Writings - 1997
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Nick Menza
Honourable Mentions: NONE. At all. If it weren't for the two songs above this album would be a fucking turd.
Risk - 1999
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Jimmy DeGrasso
This album is terrible but for giggles, here's the music video for Crush Em' featuring Goldberg and Van Damme
Honourable Mentions: Prince of Darkness, it's a cool album opener and to this day the first minute and a half of it are played over the PA at the start of Megadeth gigs.

Saw a few people who weren't familiar with Megadeth(Megadave) in the Gn'R section. Never saw thread for 'em so figured I'd start and just post a large batch of my choice cuts from their records. Please chime in with your own. Also thoughts on that new album "Dystopia" I guess, think it came out last week.
Killing is My Business - 1985
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Chris Poland
Drums: Gar Samuelson
Honourable Mention: Mechanix, the original version of the Four Horseman before Metallica took it slowed it down and added a bridge. To be honest can't say it wasn't an improvement IMO. Metallica's song is about the Four Horseman of the apocalypse and Dave's is about fucking some chick in a gas station
Peace Sells - 1986
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Chris Poland
Drums: Gar Samuelson
Just linking the whole album, it's worth your time as a whole.
So Far, So Good... So What! - 1988
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Jeff Young
Drums: Chuck Behler
Honourable Mention: Into the Lungs of Hell, instrumental track that opens the album.
Rust In Peace - 1990
Guitar & Vocals: Dave Mustaine
Bass: David Ellefson
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Drums: Nick Menza
Again just linking the whole album. It's their magnum opus and is worth listening to.

Can't blame him - they were all drunks - kicked him out with no warning or rehab - stole his riffs - and went on to become the biggest metal act of all time
This x $100,000,000 bucks
I knew Monkey would nail it. I don't blame Dave for crying. Even with Megadeth's success, they are a niche act compared to Metallica. Metallica was so big, they transcended being a metal act and became a legendary rock act. Metallica is easily the biggest metal act of all time, and that's if you count Sabbath & Priest. Still, Metallica on top.
Mustaine got fucking SCREWED by all of his buddies. Dave might be a dick, but that fucking awesome Kill 'Em All album (still my favorite to this day), has Dave all over it. No matter what Metallica says. That album is practically an early Megadeth record more than it is a Metallica record. Even by Lightning they had kind of changed their style, and by Puppets they were a totally different beast, while Mustaine was playing catch-up with Megadeth.
The story of him being kicked out was always glossed over as they traveled from San Fran to New York for the recording of Kill Em' All and when they got here they woke him up, told him he was out and gave him a bus ticket home. Apparently James and Lars listened to other bands demo tapes whilst dave was sleeping during the drive, trying to find a new guitarist.
Recently, in Mustaine's book this was fleshed out more. Kirk and Lars did listen to tapes on the drive... and once they'd arrived in New York. As Dave tells it (fucking huge caveat, he does talk a lot of BS), they got setup and were rehearsing in New York and getting ready to record and Lars & Kirk were secretly auditioning new guys whilst he was still in the band. Then one day he got kicked out and James drove him to the bus stop. Apparently as he was kicked out he asked them, to not use any of his stuff on the record.
Queue, Mustaine songs + riffs being used on Kill Em All & Ride The Lightning, and allegedly some even appearing on Master of Puppets. Mustaine got screwed so hard. That said... not sure that band could have accommodated both Mustaine and Hetfields issues with addiction for long so probably for the best.
Fuck Ulrich though. Guy, is one of the worst drummers ever, and yet is one of the most successful. Was listening to this the other day. Dude can't keep time on a really simple beat.
#787 Re: The Sunset Strip » Old music is outselling new music for the first time in history » 557 weeks ago
I currently subscribe to Spotify + very occasionally buy an album for an artist I like. Either one I like a huge amount (GN'R) or a small budding independent artist I'd like to support - often in those scenarios if there's a vinyl option I'll buy it. When buying older music it's usually buying vinyl because I feel like owning that album on vinyl, which is more of a collecting for fun thing. Music sales are dead and the industry needs to either find a creative way to monetise music or stop clinging on to the past.
Also most new music isn't worth buying; It either sucks and isn't worth paying for or is good but is given away for free on youtube , soundcloud etc. (lots of artists do full album uploads etc.) Older music at least appears to be of higher quality (at least the stuff that got popular was - there's still good music made today it's just often only 100 people on a forum will ever hear it), and fans of it was more willing to pay for it.

"Enemies of freedom, face the music
Come on boys! Take them down
President Donald Trump knows how
To make America great
Deal from strength
Or get crushed every time"
This is some fucking totalitarian regime rally sounding shit:
#790 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Reunion Prediction » 559 weeks ago
Had a GNR dream last night, they had release some triple album. Announced it half way through the Coachella set and the release date was... "NOW". Only heard one song before I got woken up, it was called "Oh You" and Axl sounded killer. The album came in this almost filofax style case with speakers built into it for playing the album... It was gun metal grey.
And same, any dream I've had in the past with GN'R always related to hearing new music. Don't get those for other bands, but most other bands don't do musical famines.
