ALS is awful in itself and can be a terrible way to go, so...   There was a NFL player about my age Kevin Turner who came down with it at around 40. Went pretty rapid & died a couple years ago at maybe 45ish. News did a bit on him, it was sad, couldn't really lift his arms anymore, drove awkwardly just leaning his wrists on the steering wheel (lived in a rural/small town so it was likely more tolerated), couldn't stand/walk for long periods. A few years later I saw he'd passed. He was a fullback so the thought was it was attributable to concussions but never heard for sure.

Yeah im totally shutdown too. Inside & near stir crazy.

I think part if it is the news in large part comes from and focuses on NYC, and it was bad there early on, and will spread the fastest there. With New Yorkers (who in large part have money &/or grew up somewhere else) able to fly out and travel , or living closeby and used to subways, trains  taxis, uber small delis etc, its a bad place for it to start. Probably the worst place.

I think you're viewing it with rose colored glasses. There's talk of a global recession. I agree Joe isn't by any stretch a great candidate. I'd say 3rd or 4th best of the original Dems in hindsight, but often times, due to the way our system & primary works, the safest candidate sometimes gets thru. It sure doesn't make him a lock, look at Mitt 2012, John Kerry 2004, McCain 2008, Dole (?) 1996.

I just think to say Trumps going to win, when 4 weeks ago his best shot at re-election was The Economy, well the economy has shit the bed. And there's no telling yet on how the US is handling the pandemic, but there's signs of stupidity out there. For starters, Trump started by calling it 'A Hoax', and there's video of that. Second, Fox News already has taken a drastic turn on their coverage, as well as the WH becoming far more enforcing, signs that early indictors show the trajectory is on a frightening path, and someone talked alot of facts & data into them. Idiot Rush was a member of the conspiracy pact, and I had numerous FB friends who seemed influenced by this rejection of truth.

Third, controversies always lag, and the WSJ did a piece that Jared Kushner was in charge of this pandemic response, and early on dismissed it himself as 'carried away'.  Later, his brothers father in law, who's a doctor, posted on a Facebook group asking other doctors how they would handle it, saying he had an inside route to the WH. He since deleted the post but someone screen shotted it.

Lastly, its easy to say 'scrap some of Obamacare', but getting rid of the mandate means people won't bother getting insurance until they need it, which doesn't work for the insurance companies as that business model won't work (Oh, I have cancer or a heart problem, let me go sign up for insurance today!). Hence, it'll fall apart & go back to the old way, people turned down due to guess what, 'pre-existing conditions'.

If Trump passes that stimulus he wins the election. Game over.

Why? Didn’t help the republicans in 2008.

I agree. This is March, and if he resorts to this whats left for him to enact?!  I also think Healthcare & Trumps removal of ACA/pre-existing conditions clause becomes a bigger factor.

Didn't seem like you missed much. They sounded like the songs, just 10 second clips or so. Video was of a mixing board. I didn't really hear it all out (It was a IG video, couldn't fast forward)

Two brothers were arrested near me for buying out hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes, like 17,000 in all, and price gouging for them on resell. They were charging $70 for hand sanitizer. The moment they were arrested they donated it all to charity, but they already took profits and are in deep shit.

I think they went pretty viral, I'd heard about that here & my brother & I talked about it (He's in SLC)

This isn't 1918 bro.

Yeah, and Nyquil & Robitussin won't fix it either tho, so our human bodies are little advanced than we were in 1918. You're "smart" phone doesn't make you smarter, nor better able to outlive a virus.

I can't believe how cavalier you're being about this...you're saying just because this has never been done before that we shouldn't by doing it now? Nobody knows what they're doing except for you?

We're going on lock down here in Illinois. Now Neemo says Canada is on red alert.

Trump is the one who said this thing is going away on its own. I don't want to hear one more word from him. Someone should quarantine his mouth.

You'll likely have a great excuse as to why this was all so stupid in a couple months. Meanwhile, here in the real world, lots of us have obligations to adhere to...if you wan to go rogue, by all means.

I'm hearing rumors that they're about to deploy the national guard. As I said before...no one wants this happen...but it's fuckin' happening man.

I can't believe you can't believe it.  I've always (ALWAYS) been about personal freedoms.  Finally you can understand that I don't give a fuck what Trump says.  Take responsibility for yourself.  If you're at risk or live with people at risk, don't go out.  Keep at risk people in homes and hospitals quarantined.  It's done bro.  Healthy people can handle it just fine until it goes away on it's own in a month or whenever these things always go away. Trump doesn't know dick and neither do all the so called experts.  Go back and ready everything I wrote...nowhere did I claim to have the solution.  Nobody does, and that's the point.  We're having all this collateral damage that you're perfectly okay with because people refuse to take care of themselves.  I'm not okay with giving up my freedoms because you're a dumbass (not you specifically for once mitch, but the idiots that are at risk, yet put themselves at risk anyway).

Man this is dumb. You don't 'know' if you're susceptible or not, people in their 30s & 40s are dying from it. Plus you can 'carry' it, and pass it on to someone else. Imagine an elderly couple behind you in the market to pickup a gallon of milk, and you spread it to them by using the credit card keypad entering your PIN, or holding the door.  1918 was exactly this, and they were holding parades & being out & about & couldn't figure out why it wasn't going away.  It eventually mysteriously went away in November after quaranteening was implemented.

To say "I"m healthy" and go out & about is idiotic, and directly against what will stop this. YOU WILL PASS IT ON TO OTHERS!! Also, it's summer in Australia, and bad there. So it won't just go away when its warmer out.

Philadelphia is in full lockdown. All businesses, offices, bars & restaurants, retail etc ordered to close 5pm today. I'm now remote as well.

I heard all the talk of schools shutting down, its likely for the year. They're closed 2 weeks here for now, but I heard this isn't going to hold up & will likely extend 6-8 weeks, then until the summer if its still bad.

This is unprecedented, never thought I'd live thru something like this. I hope it passes thru fairly soon & that my parents are ok.
