Yes, lets keep it here....

Slash and Axl both need other people to maximize their greatness..

i actually disagree.....partly.

slash's solo albums would be ten times better if they were only about guitar and had no vocals.

chinese democracy suffers from over indulgence.

both could benefit from simplifying their art.

this is y we are all looking at each other wondering what's going on when nothing is going on but something is supposed be going on (takes a breathe). like when cd was released and there was no tour. axl clearly can't get on the phone or on the plane often enough to keep the buiness running properly. it's a give and take and axl has the motivation of a turtle when it comes to music, can only imagine what he's like when it comes to paying bills and making meetings. i'm sure he just hands out money or promises of money and hopes it gets taken care of to the highest standard. then he gets upset when it isn't up to his standard and someone gets fired and someone doesn't get paid.

But realistically, Cornell is a better songwriter and better vocalist.  Stage presence though, Axl blows him out of the water.  Cornell can't even come close to him there.

Cornell is a lot more diverse.

i understand were talking preference and opinion here but, as objectively as possible, how can u say cornell is a more diverse vocalist? axl has a much larger range and has many, many more ressies and textures that he uses. cornell has the same head voice and the one scream that he goes back and forth with and can't duplicate his legit voice....EVER.

songwriting is much more subjective, no matter who you prefer and the only objective way to compare is to look at sales and the nod goes to axl for that one but that's not fair cause he had a better band with him in his prime.

I think even you know that your attempt to downplay Slash's importance and songwriting greatness was desperate and ridiculous. It's not about having a different opinion. it's about having a valid opinion.
According to you Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Buckethead etc. are not songwriters. I'm afraid you don't play any instrument and has never got any music education.

ah, let the insults flow, replacing the inability to provide an intelligent response. perhaps you are the one that is lacking in music ed and just don't know it. what makes you think it is me? I play piano, guitar, and sing. I give theory based lessons at the college level and i write and record my own music completely by myself, including all necessary instruments to the rock genre (piano, drums, guitar, bass, vocals, synth). maybe you'd look better sticking to what you know rather than what you think you know and assumptions.

i have no reason to be desperate to insult slash. he is great at what he does well and i love him for that but he is not great at songwriting. your comparisons with eddie van halen and jimmy page, etc. are absurd. slash hasn't even been involved with anything close to that level of music since izzy left gnr. compare slither to stairway to heaven, dude. this is because izzy was responsible for the core of most of the songs on appetite, lies, and illusions. slash can write and amazing solo but it doesn't mean shit to the listener if it cant be backed up with a song to accompany it.

take SCOM for example.....play the solo without izzy in the background and it is not nearly as exciting.

I love both guys and they are my two favorite singers so its hard to slag either for their immense talent, but Axl doesn't come close in that department and Axl even admitted it in a RS interview many years ago.

The only capacity that Axl destroys Cornell is his stage presence, but in fairness very few in history can rival Axl's stage presence.

i disagree - axl is a far more diverse vocalist.

and since when does a statement of modesty equal truth when talking about one's own self?

Since we're on the topic of Axl vs Slash(again). Slash couldn't hold Axl's jockstrap in the songwriting department. Let's be real.

Please. Axl has never written too much material, he's more of a producer. Chinese Democracy also proves that, too. He needs others to write music for him. He can't even play guitar good enough to create something better than a 14-year old could. Besides the great Estranged, November Rain and This I Love, nothing proves his songwriting ability. Nothing.

that's a lot more right there than about anyone on the planet.

slash plays guitar. he's  a guitar player, not a song writer.

axl sings and plays piano. izzy sings and plays guitar. that is y they are able to write songs. plus whatever personality traits they have that slash doesn't.

slash is too simple minded to be a song writer.

exactly what i've been saying - slash is an amazing soloist but izzy is what brought the solos and vocals together with his song writing.

i don't think it was that great of a fight. no tyson fight in which he loses is a good fight IMO. tyson is an all or nothing style of fighter. when he's out for blood he wins. when he's not he fights placid and loses to inferior opponents like evander holyfield. that's not good boxing when one opponent is placid IMO.

You've just stated that it's Guns N' Roses if it's called Guns N' Roses. wink  I can call myself Bonaparte Napoleon, but it won't make Bonaparte Napoleon, even if I own the name. big_smile Yes, it's a statement. 16
So there is at least two parties: the judicary and the metaphysical party of Guns N' Roses fans.

calling yourself a name and a judge agreeing that you are legally the soul owner of a band are two completely different things.

the reason why tyson can make a comeback is this....

mike tyson hasn't been fully active since before he went to jail. the wear and tear on his body is closer to that of a younger fighter.

if he can be mentally prepared and has a good team in his corner i'd put money on him over evander.

the mental part is the deal breaker though. his mind hasn't been on any of his fights since he lost cus d'amato.
