...knowing you're going to lose a pet.  My wife and I don't have kids (I know some of you think THANK GOD).  We treat our pets as our babies.  I just found out our 17 year-old cat has a mass in his chest.  Without spending hundreds of dollars on tests, we won't know exactly what it is, but we know it's not normal and it's big.  I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a 17 year-old cat no matter how much I love him because the reality is that even if we knew what it was, it's likely there's no treatment for it.  The vet thinks he might have 6 months left.  He's been around for a long time and we've known this day was coming eventually, but knowing it's coming and KNOWING it's coming are two different things.  He's acting normal for now, so (hopefully) no immediate decision needs to be made, but that day is coming sooner rather than later.  We've had pets for a long time and lost them over the years, but I can't remember a situation like this where every time I look at him I'm going to think about how little time he has left.

I have to tell my wife.  I haven't told her yet because she has to drive home from work and I don't want her thinking about it while she's driving the hour to get home.  She too knows it's coming, but it's just different when it's real vs something you know will happen eventually.  SHe's going to be devastated.  I know the years of unconditional love are fantastic, but letting them go is so hard; letting them go over a period of time may be a nightmare.  Not sure how I am going to make it through this...

Thanks for listening...no response needed.  This is therapeutic to just get it off my chest somewhere that isn't facebook or something like that where people I haven't talked to for decades in some cases will tell me how sorry they are.

Facts. You really hate them. You crumble every time. big_smile

No son.  I answered your page with a much simpler fact that you're choosing to ignore.  That's fine, but you sound really stupid telling me I do what you do.  The Dems forced a bad plan through.  The Republicans tore it apart.  Facts.  Get the fuck over your page of "facts" that aren't really facts, but actually a point of view.

I know.  You post 10,000 words for whatever reason when the first 100 or so completely invalidate your point.  Priceless.

That whole list is a bunch of poor excuses directing blame anywhere other than the law.  Here's a fact you can consider that wouldn't take 10,000 words to explain: If they had passed the law the right way in the first place, half of those issues would have been addressed upfront in discussions instead of after the fact.  Force a piece of shit through and you're going to get that piece of shit ripped apart.  That's how the game works.

When your first point shows that it was fucked up from the beginning, I don't need to waste time reading the rest of it.

They were destroyed because it was incrementally pulled apart to purposely make premiums go up. That's a fact.

Premiums went up immediately.  Deductibles went up immediately.  Things were fucked up long before any changes were made.  What else you got?

Cap drug & medical costs, insurance malpractice judgements and implement a public option for folks making less than 30 grand. Offer tax breaks for getting insurance and impose a $5-10 k fine for gaming the system (waiting until you're sick to get insurance) and you don't get the negotiated prices for care until it's paid. Support it with a junk food tax.

The first part isn't going to happen for so many reasons.  The rest of it isn't going to make a difference.

They could fix Obamacare, easily. But too many people are obsessed with destroying it instead. And they couldn't even do that right.

Easily?  I'm all ears.

People are obsessed with destroying it because they were destroyed by it.  Politicians are obsessed with it because their people want it done.  Certainly there's a screw Obama bonus in it for them, but Obamacare has done major damage to anyone not subsidized who are paying significantly more for less.  I mean it's great that you can cover dependents and life partners.  If they could have limited it to the important things, it would have limited the financial impact to everyone.  Instead they tax you for having a good plan, which essentially forced everyone into the same shitty plans.  Even if you didn't have coverage before, this didn't help because you couldn't afford the premium still and the deductibles are so high you'd need to be deathly ill or in a plane crash to get any benefits from it.

So I am curious to hear how you're easily going to fix this.  I don't think the damage can be fixed at this point.

My company gave nice increases to most people making (generally) less than 60K.  I don't have all the data, but the ones I have seen were roughly 10% increases (for people making about 50K before the increase).  These were one time increases in February (and outside of the merit increases that they also received in March) directly because of the tax cuts.  You can laugh at $5 if you want to, but 10% raises for doing absolutely nothing more than what you were doing before are nothing to laugh at.  The company also increased their 401k match for all employees.  The company subsidizes healthcare premiums for people (roughly) making less than 40K so they pay less out of each paycheck.

If anyone thinks the tax cuts are a negative financially for the common people, you better hate Obamacare, which fucked the common people financially hard.  Premiums went up.  Deductibles went up.  It's virtually impossible to find a low deductible plan any more.  The rich and the very sick poor that aren't paying for their healthcare are the only ones not getting killed by Obamacare.

Stupid ass details like there's no fucking way to pay for it and it's unsustainable?  That's not a detail, that's a major fucking problem.  What exactly did I do to make sure it failed? I have and had coverage through my employer.  I can't wait to hear this (or more accurately I can't wait until you ignore this and spew out some other bullshit).

It’s people like you...your ilk. All i know is that you stated yourself on numerous occasions that you were against the whole thing. Now, you say it’s because it wasn’t paid for. If that’s the case then why are you such a proponent of these tax cuts that haven’t been paid for? It seems paying for shit doesn’t always matter to you.

I’m sure you’ve been using that argument about it not being paid for ages. That’s indicative that you don’t understand it either.

Go back and find anywhere where I was ever against the whole thing.  Here you go again claiming I said things I never said to try to bail yourself out.  It's always been about the money.  ALWAYS.  There's no way it could work, and worse than that the Democrats KNEW THIS but passed it anyway hoping it would lead to single payer.  Instead it helped lead to Trump as President.  Pat yourself on the back mitch...you fucked yourself.  You can blame all the racists you want, but healthcare got people to turn up in the voting booth way more than racism did.

The tax cut has been really good for people I know.  Sorry if it's not working for you but nothing works for everyone.  My company is passing the tax cuts on to us through increased benefits...it's fantastic.  Now if the tax cuts remain and the benefits start going away (which I expect to happen), we can discuss it at that point.  Same goes for the tariffs...I'm not going to panic yet.  The story isn't told in the immediate results...this is a political game of chicken that none of us have enough insight into to know what is going to happen.  So we sit back and see what develops and how the players react to whatever happens.

For once, why don't you just sit back and see what happens?  Every time you fly off the handle and overreact, you end up being wrong.  Take time.  Assess the situation.  See how things play out beyond a few days/weeks.

You don't have jack shit figured out.  I'm as empathetic as they come, but there is a line between empathy and turning a blind eye to the law.  I care about other people to a fault...it's actually a weakness of mine.  I've tried to save everyone including those that have no interest in being saved.  I've learned not to waste my time on those people any more, but it's not like you can just turn the switch off.  I've helped people get jobs that should have never been hired because they didn't do something right with their application.  I've helped people get around workplace policies that I don't agree with at work so they can keep their jobs.  I've helped people with their resumes so they can get better jobs.  I do what I can, but I am not perfect.  I've helped out more people than you probably know.  I respect the laws though and I expect others to as well.  Follow the laws.  If you don't like the law, follow the proper process to change the law.  I know to people like you that's asking a lot, but it really isn't.

I gave someone a $250 ticket to one of the Vegas GnR shows because he just had to be there and couldn't afford to go otherwise.  Don't tell me I only care about me...you couldn't be more wrong and that's saying something as wrong as you've been in this thread.
