an austrailian who doesnt like silverchair? OMG
Hahha...but I make up for it by liking AC/DC

As for silverchair...I do recgonise they have some cool riffs
I can't find the clip but they used to have this video that was exactly like a pearl jam clip..and also featured ther lead singer running around shirtless..which was comical cos he was like a 15yo kid with no chest hair. Maybe i've seen too much WWE type guys with their shirt off..but it just made him look like a poser to me.
However...they do have some very catchy songs and now have kinda a body of work of songs I like...so i dont hate them.
Here's some vintage stuff;

Interesting review...I think the problem with metalica is that they just have too many styles...theres the hard core thrash sound of the old records, then the more radio friendly Black album, then the more structured songs of Re-load...and then that extended aimless jam session that was St Anger.
It seems its going to be hard to make stuff that pleases everyone. I mean the black album is an all time classic. But I liked some of the newer stuff everyone hates...songs like "fuel", and "The memory remains" and "Devil's Dance" were pretty cool IMHO. I agree St Anger was basicly unlistenable. Of course I like old school metallica a hell of a lot as well. But its going to be hard if the radio wants them to make "sandman" and the fans want 'puppets". I expect this album will have a few cool songs though - which is what i feel about most metallica albums...to me they arn't one of those bands where i always like every song.
As for the CD reference - I think thats a stretch...there millions of albums with 13 tracks!

"Straight Lines" was a very catchy song. I had the same thing...people were going on about it..i listened to it and thought "big deal" then it promplty got stuck in my head for weeks.
I wasn't a huge fan of silverchair back in the 90s at it seemed they were basicly a nirvana/pearljam clone...some cool riffs...but very obvious attempts to look grungy and terrible lyrics. But they do seem to have matured with age.

I don't usually get into the retribution angle of punishment...but they seriosuly should lock the people that did this away for a VERY long time.

Looking forward to this...I think the new line up has a LOT of potential...and if they arn't afraid of solos...could really be good stuff.

So when you say "charity" you mean something like a registered orginisation such as the "Buy a Horder an HDTV Foundation"?
Hope this approach works. Like everyone else here I'd love to hear some more music. I await the day with glee when for whatever reason the CD finally gets released and those hording tracks are left with goods as valuable as the UYI demos. This will be especially funny if the CD fully mastered blows away the demo versions of the song. Bhahah...i hope it happens!
#9110 Re: The Sunset Strip » Report: New AC/DC Album To Be Wal-Mart Exclusive » 934 weeks ago
I'm glad Ac/Dc don't feel the need to change their style. I mean bands get big for a reason - what they do sounds good - then they always have to go and fuck that up by playing in some other style where its probably ok...but not at 'best in the world level'.
Take Zakk - I fucking love the dude...but like you go to a BLS show and he ends up behind a paino. I mean hell - if you play guitar like Zakk - one of the top players in the world - no one wants to hear you play keys
(although he's actually really good at both). But respect to Zakk that he doesnt go make a modern rock record and keeps in his leathers etc.
Anyway...AC/DC do always make the same stuff...but that's why its good...its a winning formula and you know what your going to get. I find I dont like all of their songs...most albums only have 1 or 2 that I like...but hell...when they get a good one its a damn damn good one!
