#9291 The Garden » How did people meet their partners? » 944 weeks ago

HeyAll,

While this has the risk of turning into a "lonely hearts" post...i'm actually interested in how people met their match.

My situtation is i'm 30, and single, and looking to meet someone. But i'm discovering that in our current society there don't seem to be a lot of mechanisms for it.

I mean there is internet dating (which I have friends who have got married due to) which is fine - but so much is lost in the internet process - people often  lie about themselves/have different personalities online. And even if they are straight up - its hard to tell chemistry on the net. Like in person you can tell in seconds if its someone you'll enjoy talking with or not. Online people can seem inteteresting, then you meet them in person and realise your not going to get along.

Then theres the bar/pub/club scene. This seems to be how most people meet. Maybe its because i live in Melbourne Australia which isn't a big place by international standards. But its not like these places are flooded with people. its the same faces at the same venues all the time. Its funny cos I recently read in that book about about the life of a pick-up guru how he spent his time practising his skills in bars etc...but there just arn't the single girls around here in these bars. He'd be finished here in a day! Maybe i should move to the usa.

Then theres networking. But all my friends and social circles are now married, which closes the door there.

Anyway...the point of this thread isn't for me to complain...its more just that i'm interested to see what other people think - historical comunities - like those of our parents and grandparents were more orginised for people to couple-off I guess - like they had arranged dinner dances and so forth, and people would actively work to avoid people getting left on the shelf.

Now its socially acceptable to live alone, or be unmarried/divorsed/ ..it seems like some of the structres are just gone. I can see that as a good thing in some ways - i'm not saying women should be forced to marry abusive men and that kind of thing...however at the same time...it seems everyone is married to their jobs, and you have to be quite lucky to meet a person, as we don't have the social systems in place anyomore to do so....

Just my 2c!

And honestly, i can't see BH remaining out of the band either. This is his excellence shining as well. Same with Brain. I expect the band that's on the album to tour behind it. Any other way but that is just pointless.

Perhaps...but if Axl can do world tours on AFD without Slash, Izzy and and Duff, then it wouldn't be a big jump to do a full CD album show without Buckethead and Robin.

The question is - will Scott destroy STP a 2nd time?

His behavior recently in VR has been shocking (The missed plane, 2 Australian Tours Cancelled, The on-stage outbursts, being arrested and back in trouble with the law).

Question is...has he gone back to drugs and old ways due to unhappiness in VR. In which case he'll be fine how and STP will flourish, OR does he have other personal problems and issues...which have fucked up one band...and may now be imported to a 2nd band (especially one that already broke up due to his drug problems in the past - how much patinece will they have?)

That's what bugs me. I just want them to say SOMETHING to explain the wait. Like seriously..axl could release a statement that says "I'm going to release the album on 1/3/2034 - why? Becasue that's the date i WANT to and kiss my ass if you don't like it" and i'd remain a fan and be happy to wait.

The thing thats harsh is stuff like missing the tentative date by over a year and not only not commenting on it, but the band appearing to go into shut-down mode.

Its time for an update of some kind from GNR.

I want to know:

1. Has robin left the band or is he just filling in time till the release of the album.

2. A revised tentative release date.

3. If we cant be given a date, yet we know the album is done, then I want a REASON for the delay. If its because they've decided to change it fine, if its cos the record label won't pay axl what he wants, fine, But just tell us something to get us out of the dark like this. I know you can't always spill goss publicly in business deals - its unprofessional - but its wouldnt hurt to give us some minor details about what the state of play is regarding the album, and if its legal issues or whatever that is holding it up now. I don't know about everyone else...I'll wait FOREVER to hear it..and be happy to do so...but It does get annoying to never know WHY it never comes out. Every year there is some tidbit given eg Tommy listening to the "final mixes" in like 2004 or soemthing..or the tentative date in 07...then every time we get nothing and usually no reason why the plans failed.

I guess it comes out when it comes out and its not my business right. And i knwo realisticly theres not much chance of me getting a statement on any of these topics. I just can't understand what they'd loose by doing it...like seriously...a few casual comments here and there would build up hype and improve sales when it does come out surely.

Hmm...If he has left (and its an IF cos it might just be he is filling in time till CD)  I wonder what will happen to his guitar parts. I suspect its his studio work is where he shines.

^ hahah - that's awesome.

I'd really like it if they got Baz, cos it would be interesting to see them go in a totally different direction from Scott's sound. I don't wan't to see a Scott impersonator up there.

Fuck Bach. The dude shit on VR just to swing from Axl's nuts. If they hire Bach, I'm boycotting VR.

I don't think he shit on VR to please Axl..I think it was a side effect. I think he prob said anti-VR stuff cos he was hurt/pissed that he was rejected for the band in favour of Scott.
