if the money is right, Slash is your bitch....video games, commercials, vodka, session work with Michael Jackson, selling out to the modern rock crap....SOLD OUT...he's a whore at this point. Unfortunately, I think Axl could use a good lay.

I never understood why people have an issue with slash doing his thing...he's in demand, he keeps busy, he's making money and music, what would any of you do if everyone in the world wanted your services? oh no man i dont wanna sell out....riigght you would

Slash has made a great name for himself and he keeps himself out there...his multi-ethnical background market him perfectly as well as his personal history....the man has dated and married porn stars, been an addict and clean, been broke as fuck and richer than any of us could dream, hes british and american, is an icon of the music industry..the man is an icon in the industry ... as big as any name in music ever...yet he gets flack for doing what he does...i'll tell ya what Slash is the one keeping the GnR name alive....not these other fucking guys including Axl.

You see that GNR Greatest Hits on the shelf? it sold  cuz some kids wanted to learn to play some classic guitar solos and riffs..it sold cuz it was released on the heels of Contraband and peopel were reminded how great Slash is, see that Guitar Hero Game? Slash is bringing GnR to a whole new generation cuz thats what language the kids speak these days, you see the promotion for AFD's 20th? who did it? thats right Slash was the one doign interviews regarding the band? See the Mcfarlane aaction figures? where is the Axl one....where is Axl's book? EVERYFUCKING thing that you could find that is remotely positive for GnR these days is Slash news...and Axl remains silent, so where is the "heart and soul" of the band during all this sitting up in malibu with his thumb up his ass...the very ocasional update about "HIS" band...oh yeah a cameo on GTA:SA... but hes cheesy cameo isnt selling out, Slash in Guitar Hero is though, i dont understand

anyway i dont understand how someone who sold 40 Million records could sell out any more than they already have.... i mean really here...i think that people are jealous that someone who isnt in the band is actually the the one with the most integrity and fame regarding the band...if you are nt doing anything you arent relevant...Slash stays in the public eye so he stays relevant..i cannot see how this is something negative hmm

Its a fuckign shame  that these two guys cant straighten their shit out cuz they made magic together...and it saddens me that there are GnR fans who hate Slash....how can you be a gnr fan if you dont like this man? i just dont fucking get it at all 17

there is my rant of the year big_smile 19 21 21 21

Neemo your "rant of the year" is one of if not the greatest posts I have ever read in all the time I have posted on internet forums. Not just Gn'R forums but internet forums. you absolutely nailed. This whole idea of defending Axl for his "integrity" and knocking Slash for his "selling out" is pure garbage and hugely hypocritical.  I bow down to you Neemo. That's was brilliant!! 9

for the record, I'm not praising either one of them at this point. They both have done nothing after Gnr that is remotely great in my opinion.:butt:

I know i say this like once a week. But "It's five o'clock somewhere" is an AWESOME album from a guitar point of view.

As for selling out. It's insane and I agree with neemo. He isn't sold out, he is iconic. I love that slash working with others is considered selling out to modern rock crap, yet Axl trying to become trent from NIN isn't.

To me the relality is that Axl IS the best front man of a generation, and Slash IS the best guitarist of his style sound. Put them together and you'd again have the greatest band in the world.

Force them to be seperate and you'll still get amazing projects due to their seperate talents. But maybe not like the magic they can create together.

and for the record, Axl has no "vision" at all....throwing 30 musicians in a room and splattering the wall with paint is not a "vision". It's chaos.:haha:

ps and the other thing that cracks me up is the assumption that if Slash and Axl got back together, it would somehow work on an artistic level. Last I checked, Axl and Slash couldn't make a record of original material from 92-98. Axl didn't jive with much of his shit either. Slash, Bucket, Robin, The Gardener...doesn't matter who is playing guitar if the person who wants to be responsible for the project can't decide what he wants. Why would 2008 be different?:headbang:

Same here!!  Karma Neemo cuz like or not it's the truth!   I would never call Slash a sell out as some do because the man is out there actually doing different things, that makes him a sellout?  2

Good post (rant) Neemo.  I can't say I like anything ANY of the members have done post-GNR as well as the stuff they did when they were members of one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time.  At the same time what else should they be doing?  Should Slash be sitting around planning his retirement years or should he simply be doing what he loves and does best...playing music.  The latter is my vote.  Neither Axl or Slash are sellouts for moving on in my opinion.  They are just "living".

standing on top of a Volkswagon with a top hat on and playing guitar is a bit much....did he need the money that bad? Did he need to sponsor Black Death vodka? Playing in bands, doing session work, and even the guitar hero thing is fine. But he has turned into a bit of a media whore. I think he does daily interviews at this point....over exposure isn't good. Sorry I don't agree with you guys.

I agree the VW thing was kinda lame, but at the same time Axl did a deal with Harley. I don't mind GH, even Eddie Vedder was somehow on that, and anyone who'd call PJ "mainstream sellouts" would be off their rocker. Let alone Metallica, Slayer & others that are on there. But if you include that, Axl lent his voice to a game also. I'll give you Black Death Vodka also, because he was always known for his JD shirts & bottles.

I admit he's been a bit of a sellout, but I'm not upset with him over it. He's got kids to feed.  16 I'd guess sometimes his manager sets him up with these things, and as he gets older he less & less feels like fighting it & saying 'No'. So he's just going along with it. I don't think he's calling his agent "Hey, did I get that VW gig??"
