Sic, I totally agree with your thoughts on the amount of baggage attached to the CD name and tours. Iv'e always had a suspicion that an album called "CD" will never come out. It'll (whatever "it" is) will be called something else. The CD era and saga can very well be looked upon as a failure. Not to mention the irony of the title itself; just a big joke.
I could live with the album being self-titled.
If this were to happen it could possibly be the biggest insult to the band's legacy ever.

If Baz tours behind his album, which I'm assuming he will, do you think that Axl will do the flip flop and join him on stage to sing his parts on the songs he had a part in?

He said we can ask him anything it's just that he has to watch how he answers not to open up a can of worms.
I sure hope this isn't foreshadowing in the sense that CD will be a can of worms if it ever comes out.
But it would be a good name for the album.

I could handle Slash and Izzy back in the mix, but in the end, reunions of hard rock bands 25 years later are LAME..
Some are of the opinion that 45+ year old frontmen of hard rock and punk bands are lame.

Call me naive but I'm willing to believe the record is finished, but Axl is being a Diva and demanding all manner of things that the record company won't give into. Or, as someone else alluded to, they want to see some decent management behind the band before pushing ahead.
I find it hard to beleive that at this point in time that Axl is in any position to strong arm a label.
I'm willing to bet the vast majority of the alledged money that was invested by them into his project was between 10-15 years ago. Completely different landscape today. If I were the label I would have sropped putting money into this thing like 8-10 yaersago. Axl said most bands in a similar position don't spend the money on themusic wheras with him it all went towards it. In that case he's gotten enough.

i have no problem accepting other opinions. what you are saying is not an opinion, its a flat out lie.
His opinions don't mean he doesn't support what Axl's trying to do, to a certain extent. Just because Axl has kept the name and has had a revolving door of musician dosn't mean he won't give the music a chance.
Take Gilby Clarke for instance. A lot of fans embraced him when he jumped in to tour for the illusions. (some didn't due to izzy and other reasons).
Maybe he wouldn't have said it at the time, but he sure as hell was a paid employee. As he said, after the tour the cheques just stopped coming in and that was that.
I'm sure that in confidence Bucket would tell you that was exactly what he was as well. (sorry james). For Axl he was the trickster guitarist, nothing more. That's what Axl wanted him for.
What about the incarnation that played OMG for end of days? Would you say that was a super tight band of brothers proudly waving the GNR flag? Come on. And Axl raved about the song and the guys who played on it, with a bunch of jibberish i may add.

I honestly think that the people that tour with Axl are not "bandmembers", none of them at all.
The only one you can make a case for is Dizzy, but that's simply because he's been there the longest.
When Axl released OMG on that soundtrack he refferred to the guys on the song as "players". Those players included Dave Navarro, Josh Freese, Paul Tobias, Garry Sunshine et all.
Now you have a new group of players and you'll probably have different names to add to the player list in a year or two.
