#1081 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Next Chapter or the Grand Finale? » 923 weeks ago

Every day it feels more and more like the Grand Finale. There's absolutely nothing to look forward to at the moment. Even Baz has shut up now, and rumours are constrained to a four word e-mail reply from the part time rhythm guitarist in GNR. 'You heard right Greg'. Gee thanks for that.

Maybe its just the January Blues. We used to talk about the calm before the storm, now its just starting to feel like the calm before the calm.

IMO they have 2-3 months to do something, or the hard core fans will wither away. In some sense I wish they would, the bands done fuck all for ages now, so why should we give a shit. Maybe the forums should not even bother with the new band, instead reminisce on good times past. Collectively ignore any talk of leaks, forthcoming tours or anything to do with the new band. Just talk about Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven. See how Mr A likes that.

Sorry, rant over. I'll be back tomorrow full of enthusiasm probably!

I agree with Babydolls on this. It'd be great to see Dave with them. Amazing actually. But it belongs to Bonham.

Me too. Once met Jason Bonham in a place called Nean Sollers (Cleobury Mortimer) - crazy fella - likes his drink and rocks.

But I'd like to see Dave do a gig or two on the drums. He'd be like a kid in a candy store, the enthusiasm would be infectuous. I'm also intrigued to see how his style of drumming would work with Led Zepplin, which although was a very heavy and hard sound was also quite intricate.

I guess that means Lars having to do some practice.

Yeah really! Good call

No seriously, he'll probably just rip off some drum tracks and use pro tools to record his parts

I'm waiting to see who will win the war before jumping in and buying one. I have no interest in buying both formats since one of them will be dead within a year or so.

How long did the VHS / Betamax war take?

I'm currently thinking of buying a media centre. Anyone have any recommendations?

#1085 Re: The Sunset Strip » The PINK FLOYD Thread » 923 weeks ago

I love The Wall and listen to it more than the Dark Side. IMO its a classic album.

Oh why can't they do one last tour sad Everyone else is

#1086 Re: The Sunset Strip » Favorite foreign films » 923 weeks ago

City of God
Pen's Labyrinth
The Ring

Thats the only three I can think of off the top of my head that I enjoyed. There's something quite nice about watching films and listening to music in foreign languages even if you don't understand it!

On the whole I hate reallity tv. Half the time its so far removed from reality its untrue. If you want reality watch a wildlife program or something.

Hands up I've taken clenbuterol. It isn't that bigger deal, but obviously everything in big doses can cause problems, even food.

Crystal Meth Speed and Vodka can't be too safe though.

#1089 Re: The Sunset Strip » Big risks among the big releases » 923 weeks ago

Thanks for that 22

I didn't know AC/DC had actually named their next album. At least that's encouraging. God I hope its a double.

Black Crowes as well, thats gonna be interesting

And I might even go and see Def Leppard.

I'm also interested to see how Judas Priest and Slayer get on. All in all it could be a big year for Hard Rock / Heavy Metal; I could even see a cool Monsters of Rock line up!

I'm looking forward to the new Opeth Album too.

this is one band i've always wanted to check out...but i dont know where to start...and their music is so expensive...what disk do you recommend? ghost reveries?

Thats a difficult one. I think you could start with any of the following and be happy:

Blackwater Park
Deliverance
Damnation
Ghost Reveries

I'd avoid some of the older discs like Orchid, Still Life & Morning Rise, not because they're bad its just they're probably a little harder to get into.

They're a superb band, in my opinion. Think educated man's thrash. Closely tied to Porcupine Tree, another of my favourites at the moment.
