Classic rock is where nostolgia acts belong.  They are in the right place.

Thats not strictly true although the main focus seems to be on the older acts. T I have learnt about many 'new' and currently active bands from CR.

Suprised they didn't review Sebastian Bach's album though.

Right or wrong, I enjoyed the book.

He's quite complimentary about some facets of Axl's personality at some points, although I think as time went by he lost any respect he had.

I found it interesting that Slash said he would have stuck through an industrial album with Axl if there had been the right creative vibe.

Actually I plan on taking off from work the day it's released. Seriously. Anyone else??

I was all set to in '06 when the tours started. I thought that was going to be the year.

Yup.

I promised I'd buy a new stereo system in preparation and then spend the day drinking getting high and disecting cd with some of my other nutty GNR friends!

#1105 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy - will you or won't you » 915 weeks ago

Absolutely. Sooner rather than later hopefully. But I can't promise I won't download any more leaks as I don't have confidence it will be released yet.

I truly believe if GNR make a special effort to package the product well, ensure the consumer gets good value for money (i'm thinking standard and deluxe versions of the album), ensure that the cd is easily accessible, build up the release and then promote the fuck out of it (that includes interviews by the way Axl) they will have a good chance of attaining reasonable sales figures. Of course it will be heavily downloaded but there are still a good proportion of people out there in their target market(s) who would relish the chance to buy a cd.

But I'm only speaking as one type of consumer who still likes to buy cds and is a big fan of GNR

#1109 Re: Guns N' Roses » Staff cuts hit Geffen. Interscope » 916 weeks ago

If they have it I just hope some disgruntled member of staff on the list of cuts leaks every fucking song.

Sorry I just don't see how else we're going to get our hands on this music.

#1110 Re: Guns N' Roses » Interesting tidbit about Jimmy Iovine - Interscope Records » 916 weeks ago

Thats pretty much exactly what BBF said. At the time of GNR they were drinking vodka for breakfast, fucking everything in sight, taking way too many drugs, lying about taking way too many drugs, arguing between each other, stealing, destroying stuff etc etc etc. Not recording solo albums or travelling around the world taking photos.

One of the other interesting things I have taken from the book so far is how they would only get stuff done when they were together as a band. That's when all of the best stuff came out too. The recording for Chinese Democracy maybe finished, but with all of their 'extra curriculum' activities I just don't see how they'll achieve anything. Why don't they get together, jam, play a gig, do some interviews and make it work one way or other?

For fucks sake! Its so easy, yet I imagine all of those blood suckers on the sidelines are making it way more complicated than it needs to be. If its so bloody difficult why are there so many new bands out there doing just that?
