After a certain time, I think it's ridiculous to call it "the new GNR"

One album under their belt compared to 5 studio albums, 1 live album and 1 GH album, from the old Guns N' Roses means it's still NEW Guns N' Roses. Especially when the current lineup  has almost nothing to do with the album they claim to tour under. Anyone who doesn't think this is still a new version of the band puts way more emphasis on time than then they do actual productivity and contrivution.  It's NEW and always will be new untill the headmaster embraces his claims of actually moving forward.

My point being that the "original" Guns N' Roses was gone by 1991 and it's been evolving ever since then.

I've thought "new" sounded weird for a while, but I still can't refer to it as just GNR.  What I do now is call it "Axl's GNR".

I disagree with the most shows sound better with plugs thing, I've never experienced that at all, but I think any stigma about wearing them is long gone.

Only thing I would say is go to a music store (that sells instruments, not albums) and get a good pair.  Don't just get the pair for $.50 at a hardware store.  That makes a huge difference in the sound.

What is the difference? We just use the cheap pairs from the drug store.

The cheap industrial ones really just cut out the highs and muddy up the sound quite a bit.  The specifically music ones bring the sound as a whole down a lot more evenly.  It still isn't perfect, but it's better than the cheap ones.

The ones I have have some sort of metal filter insert thing rather than just being made of foam or whatever it is the cheap ones are.

Metallica is streaming their set from the Orion Fest here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhmSq5mTG1o

If I understand correctly they're gonna start very soon.  Evidently playing "The Black Album" in full tonight.

That version's fantastic, but Draw The Line is just flat out one of the best live songs ever in my book.

According to People.com, Ozzy Osbourne's 26-year-old son Jack has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Jack and his fiancée, actress Lisa Stelly, welcomed a daughter named Pearl Clementine on April 24.

"I was just angry and frustrated and kept thinking, 'Why now?'" Jack tells People.com. "I've got a family and that's what's supposed to be the most important thing."

Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another.

^That's exactly what it is.  I just recently "acquired" it off of youtube.  I'd have paid for it if I could, but since I can't I just downloaded it.  God Damn that video brings back memories.

I guess i'm just different to you guys.

I could take or leave izzy's stones inspired stuff. It's cool in it's own way. I don't hate it or anything. But to me it's just equal to the stuff that inspired it. Whereas Slash is better than aerosmith now, and I like Axl's elton john stuff more than actual elton john....

What was amazing about GNR was Axl's voice/lyrics/melodies and Slash's once in a generation style emotive riffs and solos.

So for this reason Izzy's projects are equal to Duff's solo projects to me. Cool  but not really what it was about GNR that I liked. And I put Axl and Slash's solo works, along with their collaborative efforts amongst my absolute favourite music of all time.

We basically get to the same conclusion but on opposite ends.  I listen to a lot of Axl and Slash's stuff and think, Wow they really miss what Izzy and Duff brought.

I like Izzy's stuff the best, and it's really not even that close.  That said, I'd rather listen to the Stones or the Ramones than Queen or Elton John.  I don't dislike them, but it's not where I go first.

I'm also not really an 80's hair rock fan.  I obviously love GNR.  Some Motley Crue is great but a lot of it is shit too.  Most of the rest I'll cherry pick a song here or there, but I'm really not into it as a whole.  Plus, more often than not, I like solos that flow like a melody line much more than shredding type stuff.

All of that has its place, just not what I like the best.  I'm one of the people who wanted GNR to take The Stones' place as the greatest hard blues band in the world.  Nothing else in that time slithered the way GNR did.

“In January 2007, Turner Broadcasting System Inc.'s promotion of its TV show Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which featured small electronic light boards with one of the series' characters, triggered a bomb scare in Boston.” 5 The little critters also appeared to be flipping the bird.

Someone actually thought this was a cute idea.  Sorry…not all PR is good PR.

The Moon Rulez #1.

I can't believe they didn't include the big build up before one of the olympics about 20 years ago.  It was a big rivalry between 2 track stars ("Dan and Dave" sounds right but I don't remember) and neither of them ended up qualifying for the olymics that year.  I think it was Reebok, but it was shoes for sure.

Edit, Google is my friend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_%26_Dave  Evidently one of them did make the olympics but the other one didn't.

I liked the idea of Crystal Pepsi. I thought it was a cool novelty. It lasted a short while but it was fun.  I remember it but I remeber it tasting different than regular Pepsi. Maybe I'm just misremembering.

Probably a month ago I was made to feel old as hell when I said something about Clear Pepsi to the guy that sits next to me at work, and he had no idea what I was talking about
