I won't say I wanted the guy to blow up the ship, but I think in reality he would have. It was a nice way to trump the joker in that good triumphed over his madness but if that situation was to really occur one of those boats would be blown up I feel sure of it.

I agree on your assessment of the joker, any flaws the film has and it does have some are just melted away by Ledger. He is simply sensational. That scene you quoted I could watch a million times, his mannerisms are excellent. I love the emphasis he puts on the T at the end of 'No...I'm...not' it's so cold and menacing it gave me chills.

I'd say definitely, I thought it was fantastic, I saw it 3 times at the cinema, and will hopefully get it for xmas on DVD. It's better than BB, in fact it's the best Batman film ever without a doubt.

Musically I'm not dissappointed, I think the albums really good. I guess there's a bit of dissapointment that a lot of the songs weren't new, but then again I partly view that as my own fault for downloading the leaks. That's almost a whole other issue entirely but for the sake of going way off topic I'll just say part of me was underwhelmed when I first read the tracklist.

On the whole though I like the album, it's everything that's gone with it that just leaves me uninterested in the whole thing. This was meant to be the glorious return of GNR, instead it's a rushed album release with apparently zero interest from anyone involved (who's allowed to talk or has anything interesting to say). This ship's supposedly being steered by Azoff and Gold, they could make a homeless tramp a number 1 selling artist if they wanted, and yet CD which supposedly had a 'monumental campaign' behind it has seemingly been swept under the carpet.

I know it seems like we're never satisfied, a year ago wouldn't we all have said I don't give a fuck how it's released just get it out there? Now here it is and and we still feel short changed. For me at least it's because all the promo stuff that goes with an album release is as exciting for a fan as the album itself. Appearances, interviews, tours, all things fans look forward to and all things that go with an album release, yet here we are looking on in the dark again barely sure if we've still got a band to support.

For whatever reason, Axl's killing this album, deliberately, and he's doing a pretty good job. I'd expected CD at 5th or 6th this week in the UK, but 11th is terrible.

Shame because it actually is a good album, not the holy grail or a masterpiece but it's a solid record with some good songs on it. It might not be the epic many once hoped for but it deserves better than it's getting.

I don't see Better saving the album in the Uk either, since Zane Lowe played it a couple of weeks back I haven't heard it played once.

As Neemo pointed out earlier it was single no.3 for Kid Rock before his album took off. Even more extreme was Nickelbacks last album, released in 05 that album tanked in the UK. Then at the end of 07/early 08 the song Rockstar just took off here for whatever reason and bang Nickelback and their 3 year old album and single went to number 1. Not saying it'll happen for GNR, but not everything hinges on your first single. Having said that if Better doesn't take off I don't know what they could put out from CD that would, and with nobody on GNR's end seemingly bothered or willing to lean on anyone to get these songs played this album will only go so far.

I believe Axl pulled the plug on that RIR show, Buckethead then quit because he had had enough of the timewasting and shitting on fans, and Axl Spinmaster Rose put out his press release to save his own face.

Bucket was out playing gigs immediately afterwards, Rose never surfaced for another 2 years, 4 years after the 2002 debacle and the album still never surfaced for 4 years after that. Buckethead was still the main man on that album and the same vocals were on it.

Nah, RIR got cancelled because Axl couldn't find an adequate replacement for BH. If the reports are right I think BH had unofficially gone before GNR were even booked for RIR, so he'd left way before the cancellation.

I'll be interested to see where CD charts this next week in the UK, I think it'll be down to 4th or 5th at best.

Early reports say Take That are outselling their rivals 5:1 so that's no.1 without question. Apparently Britneys currently 3rd, I'm not sure what's second, if it's Killers then GNR is 4th or worse this week. I don't see Killers being no.1 last week then dropping down to 4th while GNR get no.2 and then remain at 2 for this next week. If no.2 is neither Killers or GNR then CD could be 5th or lower this next week.
