getting rid of my home phone line..all i get on it are telemarketers 16 and it costs me $30 a month

I dropped mine in late 2008 because the only calls I was getting were from politicians.  My parents (who have had the same phone number for 35 years) are considering doing the same right now for that same reason... and the election is still6 months away.  I bet by the end of summer it gets ridiculous.

The Dave Grohl accusation was just flat out childish and a low blow.

Courtney Love has hated Dave Grohl forever, she's taken every chance she has had to take ridiculous shots at him since Cobain died. I'd really like to know what she thinks he did that started the whole thing.

The fact that she would wrap her own child up in that bullshit now is mindblowing even from a trainwreck like her.

That first You Aint The First vid is so great simply because it shows a lot of what I loved about this band.

Even though they were one of the biggest bands in the world at the time, they just said "We don't particulary all remember how this song goes, and it's not at all the style that most people expect from us, but Fuck It, we're gonna play it anyway"

Just Brass Fucking Balls.

Axl's choices are often far removed from what we want him to do. So at least it's nice to know what he's thinking.

As for a DVD, why not do a DVD of the Chinese Songs...no old band approval needed for that.

Remember when NIN's "The Slip" album came out with Robin, the deluxe  version had a "rehearsal" dvd with a live performance basically in a little room...but it was really cool to watch.

Axl could play the CD songs, either with no audience like that, or in a tiny space with a handful of competition winners or HTGTH cronies or whatever...proshoot it....release it....would be pretty cool product I think.

I've always thought Chinese would have been a good project to do what Metallica did with St. Anger.  Since a lot of those songs were cut together in editing and them bringing in Trujillo toward the end, they included a dvd where they played the album live in a rehearsal space/studio.  No audience at all, just them playing so if they needed to run through a song 10 times to get it right they could do it.

If I'm in the mood for that album (given, that's kinda rare) I throw in the dvd instead of listening to the album.  I'll bet I'd do the same thing if Axl had done that with Chinese Democracy.

My only problem with Dark Days is that a couple of the songs are re-worked versions of songs from Beautiful Disease, that I like the previous versions better.

Plus the version I have has a live show with it as well (downloaded from cdbaby if I remember correctly).  Nice bonus.

Skimmed through a bunch of this thread. Are people serious when they say that Axl is or might be "afraid to face Slash"?? You cannot be serious.

Absolutely.

Not scared in a "Slash is gonna kick my ass" sort of way, but in a "What happens when Slash is polite and complimentary and it becomes obvious it's ridiculous I still hate him" sort of way.

I guess maybe its just where I am in life.

CD is great but too fucking depressing.. Can only listen in bad moods and none of the rockers are really that good. Better a rocker? still like a love song rocker.

Where with CB.. man u put that on and u will do some fucking work in the gym or drive a lot faster in your car.

It also has just enough ballads to slow it down enough and all three ballads are fantastic in my opinion.

Somebody said it here not long after Chinese came out, and it made perfect sense to me:

I like Chinese Democracy more than any single album Slash has put out Post-GNR, but if I'm allowed to pick and choose an album worth of Slash's work and piece it together, I would probably like that better than Chinese.

For my own personal taste, I'd add that if I did the same thing with Izzy's stuff as was suggested with Slash's it would crush both of them.

As far as singers vs guitar in general... I find it hard if not impossible to get past vocals I don't like to get to the rest of the song that might be good.  If there's a guitar part I don't care for (Fink's solo on This I Love, for example) I find it much easier to just gut through that portion to enjoy the rest of the song.

Anybody else have the new album?  Nothing groundbreaking or anything, but it's an enjoyable mostly fully country album.

SLASH Says GUNS N' ROSES Is 'Not Playing' At ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction - Mar. 21, 2012

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash spoke to the QMI Agency earlier today (Wednesday, March 21) about the band's upcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The 27th annual ceremony will be held on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio, home to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum. Also scheduled to be inducted are RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, BEASTIE BOYS, THE SMALL FACES/FACES, Donovan and Laura Nyro. Freddie King well enter the Hall Of Fame as an Early Influence, while the late producer and TV host Don Kirshner will receive the Ahmet Ertegun (nonperformer) Award and producers Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd and Glyn Johns will receive the Award For Musical Excellence.

The ceremony will be taped for broadcast by HBO, which plans to air it in early May.

Slash told QMI Agency he had mixed emotions about the honor. "Either it hasn't hit me yet or maybe it's been so long since I had anything to do with GUNS N' ROSES that I just don't really get it," he said.

"And we're not playing. I would imagine that they asked us to play, but I know that we're not playing," he added.

Slash said that he expects former GN'R drummer Steven Adler to be there, too. "I could be positive Steven will be there," he said. "Steven wouldn't miss it." He was less certain of the attendance of the rest of GN'R's classic lineup, specifically the band's lead singer Axl Rose. The two have not spoken in years and Rose continues to hold a hostile stance toward his former bandmate.

"I don't know," Slash said when asked if Axl will make an appearance at the induction ceremony. "I would assume so but we haven't talked about it."

Ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan told RollingStone.com that there has been "no communication" about the original members of the band performing together when the group is inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Asked if he knew what was going to happen at the ceremony, McKagan answered, "I don't. I know I'm going to go. I can't, at all, speak for anybody else. And won't. I'll be there with bells on." But he added, "There's been no communication about anyone playing. There was probably a day in the mid-1990s where I would have tried to gather the troops, but I'm just not that guy anymore. It's too frustrating to change anyone else . . . I'm not even sure I'd want to change how anyone else sees a situation."

On whether he hoped that the original lineup would perform together at the event, McKagan said, "I think it would be killer. Do I hope to? That's a tricky question. It would be awesome. You have those day dreams like, 'We'll go up and play 'Nightrain' and 'Brownstone' and throw down the microphone and drop off! That'll be killer!' But I doubt that'll happen."

McKagan, singer Axl Rose, guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin, and drummer Steven Adler will all be inducted into the Hall, along with later members, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.
