That's a worthwhile observation.

Whatever I may or may not think of DJ, he and Axl do seem to have that rapport Axl's been looking for eversince Slash.

I always thought Axl seemed a bit distant to Robin and Bucket, and while he and Robin grew closer on stage through time, they never had that certain sense of camaraderie in their performance which fueled the original lineup. DJ appears a very different kind of person than Robin or Bucket, and Axl does seem to mesh with him better. I'm talking interaction as how it presented itself across tours, not musical ability, btw.

Funny to notice that when Axl finally seems to have "Mr Right" as a Slash replacement (we might as well stop kidding ourselves, that's the part the man wants fulfilled), Slash now seems to have a vocalist he can depend on and form a lasting bond with. Talk about a balance of terror - if Axl and Slash ever again share a stage, they both have someone to fall back on.

Can either newcomer elevate his counterpart to the mythical heights of the old band? Time will tell, on the other hand, a reunion would have that same baggage, and then some.

Axlin's review sparked a 16-page emotional response.

Hot damn.

I was in Barna for the Champions League finals and the claiming of Catalonya Plaza last May.

A totally wonderful city, but then again, I hung out with the locals, slept wherever, etc.

Tourism's a problem there, as hotels are being built instead of schools and public services. The locals are getting the short end of the stick, as Guardia Urbana is more interested in keeping the streets clean for wealthy outsiders with money to burn than helping the people out in making living there a bit easier.

If you go there, try an open mind. Leave the beaten track for a bit and check out the culture centers ran by ordinary folks. I loved Artkatraz myself, saw some glorious theatre there, with no extra charge.

Aye. The attitude you describe reminds me of one's ex, and thinking s/he can't surely be happy with another person. It'll eventually go south and the same shit will ensue.

RE: Duff opening shows

I actually agree on the "selling out" thing a bit. I do see it as a bit of an insult for Duff to open a band he helped found.

BUT if it's some sort of master plan for him to be eased back into the band in a professional level in some way, maybe taking out Richard and having Tommy & Duff swap bass & rhythm guitar parts, possibly even have Duff work on a new GN'R album.

I'm all for that.

I never thought of it as selling-out, but when you put it that way, yeah, I can see where the criticism would be coming from.

What I saw, initially, was Duff promoting his own band by opening to his old friends band. Because Duff's been out of the band for so long, it's safe for him pull it off. He'll make the crowds go wild, no doubt, and he deserves having Loaded offered to the GNR crowds.

Plus, it will make for a mandatory on-stage appearance with Axl every night Loaded opens for GNR. That's Izzy-level coolness.

Stinson, Reed, Pitman.

I see your point, yes. A lot of the CD writers had left the band by the time the album was released.

The focus of only one of them people matters jack shit, you know.

Until that person says anything on a new album...

Wait, he did.

But his forum account was hacked. tongue

Let's stick with the subject instead of deflecting it to something everyone understands is part of the problem.  That's not what we're talking about here.

Right.

Ok, so back to the next step:

So...if people streamed it and didn't like it, and people bought it and didn't like it, it's reasonable to expect that sales would be lower for a subsequent album, correct?

That argument was proved invalid with the Metallica example.
