Noob!
Duff was still in the band 2yrs after Slash left...
I think everyone knew that shit head. Slash left in 96 which means duff left in 98 and Robin supposedly didnt join till 99.
Slash left late '96.
Robin was recruited early '97.
Duff left late '97,
Tommy was recruited early '98.
Robin left late '99.

Says so here.
Also, reading that Vrenna interview solved a little mystery.
Rafi: Ok going backwards a bit, when you were in NIN you collaborated with Al Jourgenson in the studio, what was it like to work with Al and how many chemically induced moments were there?
Chris Vrenna: Yeah there were definitely plenty of those kind of moments, I was a pretty bad druggie at the time myself. Al was really into Quaaludes at the time, I asked him to try it out and he kept saying 'no man I don'™t know.." which I would reply with 'come on fuck you man." My nickname from Al ended up becoming 'Pod Boy" .
When I finally came to a few hours later, I saw Al tossing the last bit of shaving cream, and everyone in the room laughing hysterically. They had shaved my head while I was out. They kept laughing and said 'yeah man those knocked you out, here is a plate of coke to wake you up."
Del James: Who's your favorite drummer you've worked with?
Axl: I've liked elements that each brought in. Josh [Freese], [Brian] "Brain" [Mantia] and Frank [Ferrer] have been the easiest to work with and get along with, as well as it being fun to hang out with any of them. I do feel that all three were the right drummers to make this album.
The rehearsals with [Dave] Abruzzesse and Pod as a duo were really cool; it was a shame then that it didn't work out but seemed for the best once we found Josh. In regard to old Guns, I don't listen much and for different reasons -- more because of the drums than anything else.

Interview's pretty recent (Jan 12th)...
Rafi: I know you worked with Axl Rose on Guns N'™ Roses for a bit, but then declined to be part of the band. What happened there?
Chris Vrenna: Well that was right after I had left NIN and Robin Finck was in the band as well after leaving NIN and Cirque du Soleil. Axl Rose is a much more forward thinking person than people give him credit for, very smart and well read guy. Axl really loved NIN, in one of his music videos he is even wearing the old white NIN 'Sin' t-shirt.
I was in the band for a few months and Moby was going to produce the album at the time. It was a brutal schedule of working five nights a week from 10am to 6pm, Axl came down there maybe a hand full of times.
It was just not what I was looking for at the time, I knew that this process was going to last a few years, and I had just left NIN so I was really anxious to get back out there and work with other people. But it was really cool, getting to hang out with all of them. We ended up playing the whole '˜Appetite for Destruction'™ album from top to bottom, which really made me happy to get that opportunity.
Playing AFD instrumentals were
Robin - Paul Huge - Duff - Chris Vrenna - Dizzy
It's a pretty interesting lineup by its own right, particularly with Moby producing.

If Axl had done it, everybody would be praising him...
Litmus test.
Biting the security guard in 2006.
Who praised it?

Have kicked / dropped more things bad for my health you could shake a stick at, this includes various bevarages, other sorts of, ahem, substances and people. Not trying to brag, but I reckon I can offer something of a peer opinion.
Once you're hooked, it takes a long while to get out.
I don't mean cutting off the daily use. You can go cold turkey on alcohol (or whatever you're having) and begin to heal your body. After a while, you start getting better. During the first month, you should start seeing some positive results and the back-end of the mental addiction should wean off.
But after that, there's the doubt that lingers into your head every now and then. Whether you should do just one, after all, you've successfully kicked. One doesn't hurt. That's the part that sets the pace for you; you can strive for a healthier existence, but after that, it's all about maintaining a more positive life-line.
We've all been there, and that's a long road. But it's doable, particularly if you know the alternative.
You don't quit once.
You quit every day all over again.
Be strong, dude. It's a better world you're coming back into.

LCD Soundsystem kicks ass.
There may be a June leg, July off and August again with a UK tour.
Guns may do Pukkelpop as well.

Not taking a stand as to whether it's real or not (obviously), but I can tell you one thing.
My experience in the music industry has shown me that the truth is often stranger than fiction.
I can only imagine the level of insanity that would go into a band operating on GNR-level, particularly if they appear as mismanaged as GNR.

Dougie also forgot to mention that while busy promoting Axl's career, he got a pretty lucrative promotion for himself.
"Sanctuary today continued its expansion in the United States music market with the announcement that rock superstars Guns N' Roses and their long time manager, Doug Goldstein, are to join the Group.
Goldstein, who has been with the band since its first album and over its 75,000,000 record sales, will become Co-President of Sanctuary Music Management based at the company's new Los Angeles offices which are due to open in mid-May." (Dust N' Bones mailing list, 04/24/01)
The negotiations likely happened in early 2001, possibly after RIR3 and the recruiting of Tom Zutaut. By hindsight, it would've been a good business move to get more muscle behind Axl on a management level. The album could've come out in somewhere around late 2001 / early 2002 and Sanctuary started planning the US tour with Clear Channel soon after the merger took place.
It's safe to assume that Merck moved in because of the RIR3 appearance and the hype factor around CD. He wouldn't have probably done so if he would've known that Tom Zutaut was already busy in the studio, trying to pull the album together despite Axl.
Just goes on to show there's always big business surrounding GNR and regardless of the letter, money has the power to make people a bit funny in the head.

If it's legit - and those sure as hell are Dougie and Beta - what to make of this, then?
The sale of Big FD to Sanctuary......
Ax, I swear on my kids lives, when I was first propositioned by Merck, I immeadiately called Sharon. She told me to fly to England and meet with Rod Smallwood, Merck, and Andy Taylor.
Dougie's about to sell the company that manages GNR and the first thing he does is that he calls Yoda???
After my fact finding mission, I flew to Arizona to meet with Sharon and Elliot. They concluded that at this point in your career, you needed a powerhouse company with unlimited power and resources to help guide your career.
Oh, for Pete's sake.
IF this is true, it pretty much shows what kind of people were around Axl at that time. The Maynards recommend Dougie to sell his company to further Axl's career, yet insist on not even telling the man before the deal is done? I'm sorry, but that sort of behavior just sounds fishy, like Mr Maximum Autonomy wouldn't care to go along with Sanctuary if he'd have the choice, which is why it's better to coax him after the deal's been done.
the $10k a month that Sanctuary claims THEY were paying Sharon, was MY fucking money.
And even Sanctuary knew who was pulling the strings in the GNR camp.
Funny how Dougie always leaned on Yoda, but started having issues with her when he himself got ripped off. Then again, if you seek blessing to your major business decisions from someone, s/he's probably worth a cut, you ingrate.

Feeding the hungry with Happy Meals is also pretty funny.

Gene Simmons is living up to his stage name and thinks he can make a Faustian deal out of everything.
Doc has other bands under his wing, but not one comparable to the name value of KISS. GNR is big enough to challenge KISS in terms of recognition and because of this, Axl has every right to demand equal dedication from Doc.
This likely threw the KISS boys off a little. Azoff has managed The Eagles since whenever and Merck had Morrissey and Elton John during his GNR trip. KISS respond to Doc the same way Axl was with Doug Goldstein - Dougie had other clients (incl. Zakk Wylde), but none as big as Guns.

No, oh wait... it's "proudly doom myself"... what the fuck does that even mean?
It means Drama Queen.
I've tried living with a few.
People were thrown off, because for years they were expecting a Nightrain type song, but instead they got a Moby-type song with Axl on vocals.
+1
