#201 Re: The Sunset Strip » MTV to bring back 'Beavis & Butt-Head' » 728 weeks ago
Haha, you're actually kinda right Cramer. By the mid-90's, music videos were done on MTV. Even TRL in the late 90's was basically a rolling advertisement for the record industry. The coolest thing I ever saw on there was Jungle: Live Era, which kind of re-fired the GN'R blood in me from the early 90's. The rest was Britney, Creed & Limp Bizkit. Ugh.

Watched Animaniacs. Do you remember Tiny Toons? Watched that alot.
Batman: The Animated Series used to be a HUGE deal in my afternoons in the early 90's, but it was done by 1994. Only a few more new episodes trickled out in 1995. By the time they revived it on the WB in 1997, it wasn't the same show, it was marketed too much to small kids, and I just kind of moved on from it.

I thought MTV did bring back Celeb Death Match already?
TRL did do an episode completely devoted to AC/DC when their late 90's abum (the title escapes me right now) was about to come out.
As I remember it, it was pretty hilarious because they had the normal TRL audience there, I assume wondering who the hell the old men were.
Also, with Animaniacs and Tiny Toons... Remember Histeria. That one was pretty short lived, but it was awesome. If it was out on dvd I would own it for sure.

This seems strange to say, but... Axl should do what Weird Al just did.
Weird Al just had an album come out. He had released some single songs on itunes, one of which I bought about 2 years ago. I bought that because he put out a message on facebook asking people to because he'd never had a non-parody chart before, and he was hoping this one would. I thought "What the hell, it's only $.99.
Then he compiled an e.p. of those songs, which he called "Internet Leaks". If you'd bought any of the songs on it, you paid $.99 less per song if you bought for the ep.
A week or two ago, he put out a full album with all of those songs on it. Again, if you bought any of those songs you paid $.99 less per song. The album also contains 10 videos put together by various animation studios. He got 10 videos to include with very little work on his part.
That album charted #9 on Billboard, his highest chart position ever, about 30 years after his debut.
Axl should take fucking notes.

Cool. I don't actually have HBO, I found a website that streams it, but they only had the 1st one. I'll bet the other will be up within a couple days.

Fucking GREAT start to Season 4! The first two episodes were FAR better than most or all of Season 3.
Wait... Two episodes? Did I miss something?

NIN fans don't complain about it because they accepted it years ago. I know its not a truly fair comparison as NIN was basically always Reznor, but I think hardcore GNR fans should be able to accept it by now.
No.
Are "Accept It" and "Like It" different things.
I accept it, but I don't like it.

James (and whoever else) if you don't dig the vocals you should at least check out The Bakerton Group http://www.myspace.com/thebakertongroup It's the members of Clutch's take on instrumental jazz.
As much as I dig Clutch, hearing that you don't like the singer reminds me of 15 years of people telling me how genius Tool and Radiohead are. With them all I hear is vocals that I can't stand when I try to listen.

Looks like it's sold out online now, but it says my local store has it.
I downloaded it from Amazon for something like $3 a long time ago, but for $1 I probably have to make a trip to pick up the deluxe version tomorrow.
#209 Re: Guns N' Roses » Post your favourite fookin' GNR songs and tell us why! » 733 weeks ago
I don't remember massive play, but I specifically remember hearing it on the way to a football game my freshmen year of high school (fall 1990) and at least a few other times.
Then I hadn't heard it for months by the time the albums came out, or for that matter already by May '91 when I saw a live show.
Now that it's in my head, I remember playing the radio specifically hoping to hear it again. I remember hearing whistling multiple times and getting excited only to be disappointed when I got to the radio and it ended up being Winds Of Change.

Agreed.
That's pretty funny. What's even more funny is the amount of stupid people just looking for something to jump on that believed it. Had that come across my twitter feed, I would've immediately known it was a joke.
I saw a website recently that was a list of links from The Onion that people posted to facebook, and people's stupid reactions to them.
It was hilarious, but of course I can't find the link right now.
